What about $3 and moving the options around to something like
+2 Cards, +1 Buy;
+1 Card, +1 Action, +1 Buy;
+1$, trash a card from your hand.
The first one already seems good? I mean, strictly better than Pawn choice, and Moat (minus reaction, but, you know~). Last option is a little nice because as an opener you can still draw it with Coppers and still hit, say, $5 while getting rid of a Copper.
Edit: And second choice is Market Square without the reaction; but instead here you have options. So it doesn't seem over or under cost.

Oh, yeah, this compares a little too well to Pawn. Pawn is kinda on the weak side so it wasn't too hard of a mistake to make. I mean, it's not -strictly better- than Pawn because you can't play +1 Action +1$, but using Pawn as a guideline it does seem a tad strong.
I want it to be cheap because I want it to be easy to use +buy to pick up more of them, so I'd rather not raise it to 3$. Maybe if I axe the latter two options? I wanted to have some options you'd almost never pick at the end, for fun, but I didn't want them to make the card too strong to be 2$.
So maybe like:
Fiddler
2$ Action
Choose one: +2 Cards, +1 Buy; +1 Card, +1 Action; gain a card costing up to 2$; put a card from your hand on top of your deck.

I think a trasher that turns into a cantrip is a bit too automatic.

I concur. That would be a component of the unfair Pawn comparison. Did you look at the second revision?

Last choice seems weak. Maybe
+1 Action, Choose a card from your hand and discard it or put it on top of your deck.
That way it synergizes with gain-to-X cards if you have unwanted stuff in your hand or with a Tunnel

I think the discard option is good. Yet I'm not sure if I want that many words on the card.
Adding +1 Action is DEFINITELY a good idea though.

Ah, yes, I somehow didn't see that.
It probably still plenty good with engines - being able to choose between draw and cantrip is powerful and it can even gain more copies of itself - but maybe not brokenly so.
