Title: Board rules
Post by: theory on December 27, 2011, 09:48:19 am
Post a log of one of your Isotropic games in here, and we'll offer whatever advice we can.

Logs of you winning are frowned upon, so you better have a good reason for posting them.  This isn't a gloating forum.  It's a humble, what could I have done better forum.

You MUST supply your own thoughts on the game.  Posts with nothing but the log will be locked and you will be asked to try again.

Love the idea for the forum. Wish I could upvote this OP.

Oops, my bad.  I need to turn on upvotes for each forum manually.  Why, why, why.

Could I suggest that post titles include the key cards of the board? It will be a lot easier to browse this forum…

Well, I don't mind that so much, mostly 'cause... well, I just don't mind looking myself. But I have like forever to waste on here and you probably don't.
On the other hand, the reason they're here might be because they don't know what the key cards are...

good points to both of you.  the poster might not know all the key cards,  but there still needs to be some distinguishing factor in the title.  a dozen variations of "help with this game" or "i just lost this game" will get confusing real fast.

One possible solution would be to list all the kingdom cards, but that might be a bit long for the forum's page layout and might end up obscuring the key cards if they're at the back of the list.

I suggest that, since they're going to be commenting anyway, that they post something specific about why they think they lost. Now, that's not always going to be right, but something like 'When to go for Fortune Teller?' or 'When to ignore Minion' or 'Play Bank or Horn of Plenty first?' or whatever it is that they think was their issue. The more specific, the better, but obviously there will be some limitations.

Would it be acceptable to post multiple games over time in one topic?  I'm thinking about trying to improve by posting a game a day with my thoughts and getting feedback, and I'd assume that doing it in one topic would be the best way to go about it.

Won't bother me - I'll see it pop up on my unread threads list - and if its interesting I'll post.

This would probably work if you manage your thread right. You may want to put links in the OP to each post that contains a new game log, so people can jump down to the new games without having to wade through the comments on older games.

I think it is a good idea.
