What are your favourite cards, power level aside?

Stopped watching when he said treasury was a promo card, but probably could have as soon as he said he gets explorer as soon as he can. Okay, I get that it's just about cards that are fun to play, but it was just sort of painful to listen to.

Top ten off the top of my head:

1. Watchtower
2. Rats
3. Black Market
4. Scrying pool
5. Monument
6. Hermit
7. Wandering minstrel
8. Doctor
9. Altar
10. Forager

Hmm, this would make an... interesting kingdom. Also woah so much trashing.

Okay, so he likes treasures & money strategies.. And black market #1 is super-controversial!!

Stopped watching when he said treasury was a promo card, but probably could have as soon as he said he gets explorer as soon as he can.

This was exactly my experience. Anyways, a list:

11. Shanty Town
10. Haven
9. Cache
8. Wishing Well
7. Fortress
6. Hermit
5. Oracle
4. Tactician
3. Menagerie
2. Native Village
1. Young Witch

Young Witch is cool because it is the coolest card and it has the best art.

1. Fishing Village
2. Forager
3. Conspirator
4. Butcher
5. Highway
6. Ironmonger
7. Cartographer
8. Junk Dealer
9. Laboratory
10. Poor House

I guess it's tending towards cards I like to pick up in large quantities, so there's a lot of preference for non-terminals? It's always so painful to see a bunch of cool terminals on a board without a village.

I think my favorite card now is one you'll have to wait a couple months to see.  Of ones that have been released:

(no particular order)

Border Village - I get a free thing!  Yay engines!
Journeyman - FUCK YOU, ESTATES
Forager - Non-terminal coin-giving trasher.
Pirate Ship - ARRRRR AVAST, MATIES!  PREPARE TO BE BOARDED!  (yeah, I know it's weak, but so fun!)
Goons - so many points how can I hold all these points
Death Cart - let's eat some Rats!
Fool's Gold - GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL
Candlestick Maker - Solid card.

Tribute as an honourable mention at the start already hurt.  I didn't mind the Treasury thing that much; I expect normal people have trouble remembering which expansion every card came from, and he may have just forgotten about the expansion symbol in the bottom right.  No big deal.  Explorer is OK.  I think it's fun too. :P

Off the top of my head, my favourite cards are:

10. Caravan
9. Shanty Town
8. Trading Post
7. Menagerie
6. Conspirator
5. Chapel
4. Monument
3. Margrave
2. Highway
1. Bishop

I enjoy activating Shanty Town, Menagerie and Conspirator.  Margrave is fun because it does so much.  I'm not sure why I like Trading Post so much.  Monument and Bishop are just fun for VP, and you can start getting +VP right away, unlike Goons.

This is a pretty interesting kingdom, I think.  One neat thing is that you could actually do a golden deck even with a discard attack on the board.  It would be a 6 card golden deck with Menagerie.  Margrave ensures you can put Menagerie in your reduced hand, which can draw back the rest.  If Margrave isn't played, Menagerie can still grab the sixth card.  Would that be competitive against an engine with Margrave and Highway?

I hope adding an eleventh $3 card to your list because of young witch was intentional.

Man, it is tough to choose. At the moment my list is maybe:

10. Transmute
9. Butcher
8. Floodgate
7. **Censored**
6. Graverobber
5. **Censored**
4. Rats
3. **Censored**
2. Prince
1. **Censored**

Stopped watching when he said treasury was a promo card, but probably could have as soon as he said he gets explorer as soon as he can. Okay, I get that it's just about cards that are fun to play, but it was just sort of painful to listen to.

The Treasury/promo thing was really his only gaffe. Treasury, Stash; I can see where he'd forget.

I love Explorer and get one whenever I think it's even sort of doable.

Yep, it was.

I am kind of disappointed to see that my favorite cards kingdom would be pretty boring. No +buy except tactician, and doubletac would never work so it's not really +buy. And then there is poor fortress without any trashing. I am tempted to swap fortress for walled village; it seems out of place.

I made a video list a while back. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecJID5PZJ2s)

Still mostly relevant, but my current list would be:

1. Black Market
2. Watchtower
3. Massage Therapist
4. Apothecary
5. Menagerie
6. Horn of Plenty
7. Courtyard
8. Chapel
9. Herald
10. Vineyard
11. T-Rex
12. Throne Room
13. Epic Poem
14. Jester
15. Tactician
16. High School
17. Lighthouse
18. Tunnel
19. Remake
20. Advisor

Just watched his list.  I don't agree with his choices but whatever, those are the cards he enjoys and he has good enough reasons, I'm not gonna knock him for it. And I agree with his #1.

6. Fishing Village
7. Hamlet
8. Apothecary
9. Menagerie
10. Ironmonger

Don't judge me too harshly.

10: Embassy
9: Menagerie
8: Wandering Minstrel
7: Explorer
6: Conspirator
5: Throne Room
4: Ironmonger
3: Horn of Plenty
2: Counterfeit
1: Apothecary

Yep.  I like explorer more than Tom Vasel.  I probably overrate it, but I feel like it has saved me on more than one occasion.  If I were playing this set, probably do some kind of apothecary/conspirator engine.  Though, it's really lacking +buy...

At least he had KC and FV on his list. Those have been two of my favorite cards for a very long time.

Anyway, my list. This is actually hard to make after playing so many games. I like so many of cards for different reasons. It's a lot easier to make a list of cards I dislike.

1. Ironmonger (first card that pops into my head)
2. Plaza
3. Envoy
4. Horn of Plenty
5. Border Village
6. Quarry
7. Butcher
8. Chapel
9. Jack of all Trades
10. Fishing Village

Favorite cards! This I can do!

1. Ironworks (underrated card along with workshop in my opinion)
2. Ironmonger (love, love, love the bonuses)
3. Tactician (bad turn, good turn; I love it. Or good turn good turn with double tac, I love it more!)
4. Masterpiece
5. Fairgrounds
6. Mining Village (I like the dilemma it presents you every time you play it)
7. Library (draw to X is really fun)
8. Wishing Well (Lucky guess? No. I am a good wisher.)
9. Stash (the perfect promo; such a shame it rarely plays)
10.  Council Room (so much more fun than attacks)
HM. Jack of All Trades (such a fun card; but bumped out of the top 10 because a lot of games with it play alike. Even so, it's underused.)

Edit: Not a hard ordering. 1-3 are pretty interchangeable, 4-10 is really the next tier.

In the order they popped into my mind:

Jack of all Trades, Masterpiece, Ironmonger, Cultist, Ambassador, Ill-Gotten Gains, Herald, Merchant Guild, Bandit Camp, Hunting Grounds.

HM: Plaza

Picking 10 out of 206 Dominion cards is tricky and requires a good bit of thought. I might have to adjust this later. But if I had to choose off the top of my head:

10. Ambassador
9. Procession
8. Count
7. Junk Dealer
6. King's Court
5. Scrying Pool
4. Goons
3. Bridge
2. Quarry
1. Stonemason

How about a WORST 10 cards?  I.e. cards that when they show up, make you yell "TRUCE" to your computer, only to have your roommate look at you like you're crazy.

My top 10 worst (1 is worst, 10 is 10th worst):
1. Possession -- makes any game screwy
2. King's Court -- changes the dynamic of the game more so than any other card, to the point where it's annoying
3. Swindler -- often screws up any strategy, and luck dependent
4. Cultist -- it's almost always quickly sought after early by both players, forcing double-Silver openers, which is boring
5. Urchin / Mercenary -- often whoever gets the first Merc wins
6. Tournament -- a cool card, but like Merc, whoever gets first crack at the Prizes almost always wins.  lame.
7. Tribute -- can't count on it for nothin
8. Saboteur -- see Tribute
9. Transmute -- because, duh
10. Scout -- what's a top 10 worst list without Scout?

Top 5 is better and easier on my phone.

5. Fishing Village: very cute very useful. The little village that could.
4. Peddler: genius design, buy it for 0, remodel into a Province
3. Menagerie: actively activating it is fun
2. Tactician: another brilliant design proving that a single good turn is better than 2 mediocre ones
1. Silver: gets more hate than it deserves, it's just perfectly costed. It can't cost 2 and can't cost 4. The entire game is designed around Silver costing 3. For me Silver is the card that balances the game.

These are definitely the ones I get the most kicks out of playing with. The cards I'm likely to try and make something happen with if they're on the board for better or worse. Especially with Rats. Why are Rats so fun, but so bad?

10. Expand
9. Shanty Town
8. Apothecary
7. Peddler
6. Fishing Village
5. Counterfeit
4. Bishop
3. Tactician
2. Rats
1. Apprentice

9. Kings Court
8. Ironmonger
7. Jack of all Trades
6. Hermit/Madman
5. Watchtower
4. Counterfeit
3. Menagerie
2. Count
1. Crossroads

Man do I love a good crossroads engine!  And for some reason making a draw to X engine is very satisfying :)

4. Grand Market
3. King's Court
2. Wharf
1. Fishing Village

probably could have as soon as he said he gets explorer as soon as he can.

They can't all be the best card list ever.

To have a top 10, you need at least 10 things to list.

I like degenerate games. This list is off the top of my head, so I didn't go through card-by-card and actually consider, so I may have just forgotten some stuff.

10. Tactician
9. Hamlet
8. Vineyards
7. Horn of Plenty
6. Chapel
5. Goons
4. Grand Market
3. King's Court
2. Wharf
1. Fishing Village

No censored cards?

There's at least 3 off the top of my head that could definitely make the list. Especially *Censored*.

Love how he clarifies that the $2 "isn't the reason this is my favourite card" - well, yeah.

In no order:

Baker
Count
Wharf
IGG (sorry, but I like it)
Ambassador
Junk Dealer
Scavenger

eight cards I love more than I should:

Forge
Tournament
Menagerie
Duke
Knights
Rats
Swindler
Black Market

I sadly haven't played with Guilds enough to have real favorites there.

King's Court
Tactician
Watchtower
Apprentice
Governor
Council Room
Trusty Steed
Masterpiece
Farming Village
Poor House

Farming Village just seems so fun to play with, Watchtower can do anything, and Poor House decks are fun to set up. Most of the rest - I like big effects.

Even in his list, Explorer is not the best $5 card.

Necroing because it's possible.

1) King's Court

Yes. I'm just that guy, but the thing with KC is that it was one of the card that to the strongest effect showed me that Dominion has several different games within itself. A KC-game is like no other and now I sure understand how some can find the card just random and frustrating, but how much fun this card has brought me. The totally insane things that can happen with KC even if you are a pretty bad player is just so great. There is no card like KC.

2) Goons

Goons is the card that you understand is totally OP already from the first read. It's payload, +buy, attack AND a VP-gainer in the same card?? Wow. The thing with Goons in difference to most other OP cards in the game is that it's not easy to play with regardless of this. You need to figure out how to play many of them and fast too. Even when you have this figured out somewhat there is a lesson more to get - you can't just spambuy coppers and expect to win anyway but you need to figure out your endgame as well. Goons has been such a massive teacher to e and I'm pretty proud that I feel so confident playing with the card now. Not a master of the game in anyway but I know the Goons.

3) Monument

Another VP-chips card and I really enjoy that mechanism. Monument is my favorit vanilla and even though it's not very good in the long run it's very fun to have it as ones main VP-source when it's actually the right way to go. Good job, DXV.

4) Bishop

Trashing for benefit is my fav uh type of cards. To realise that it's actually an advantage to trash good cards for something that it's even better for you was such a huge deal in my way to understand the game. Bishop brings you VP-chips too. Impossible för me to not love to bits.

5) Count

For me, the best trasher in the game. Sorry Chapel, you are sure more solid but the fact that Count never dies makes it so yummy in comparison. To me it's better than Sentry and Junk dealer however of course it differs where they are able to shine the most. And it's the lone star likeningwise for me in Dark Ages. Buffs it a bit on the list.

6) Festival

I think this is the card that is Dominion for me. Gives a bit of everything and only need draw support to be the star of the kingdom. One of the first cards to be depleted in most games it appeared in and well, it has been with us since the very beginning. Love where love is due.

7) Mystic

A card that never hurts your deck and therefor can be a severe trap due to it's price. There is often something even better to go for, but nevertheless, this is the card on the list I found to be most underrated by the community. You have to work a bit to make Mystic work, but when it's worth it it's very worth it.

-8) Grand Market

Another prosperity-card and there's nothing to hide there. Grand market was that weird-costing card that didn't seem to be worth the difference from Market. To understand how much difference +1$ really does was a huge epiphany. The GM-decks was so amazing where the same thing with Market was a waste of time. Power to the people, all hail GM.

9) Salvager

Another TfB and Salvager is such a fun card to play in the right way. It took me a long time to understand that it was a waste of time using it to trash junk but it was a star as the main payload but since then, yeah, Salvager is great.

10) Doctor

Will never forget the first game of Guilds. Baker opening with 5 and I went for Doctor. Boom. My opponent couldn't do the same and I won in the most splendid way ever. Can sometimes be a trap, but when it's good it's bonkersly good.

HM: Bridge, Farming Village, Shanty Town, Harem, Wishing Well

Nothing from the latest expansions which I found a bit interesting. I think it's mainly due to that I more than anything else like the variation in the game and after the major learning experience the novelty lies in new interactions between cards rather than in any single card of it self. The new expansions are great but no single kingdom cards pops out as extra likeable to me. Instead new game-warping mechanisms as events, landmarks and heirlooms is what makes me tick thinking of them. Ah well.

If there's any other village in the kingdom it's usually very skippable, actually. The main places it shines is in draw-up-to-x and if there's no other village (and in that case your engine can still dud due to the lack of drawing.) I like Festival okay, but power-wise it's mediocre.

Mystic never hurts your deck? If your guess fails, you just played an Action-Silver. Mystic is actually one of my favorite cards, too, and I also think it's underrated, but I'll be the first to admit it's mediocre.

But it's still bring +buy and payload to the table. Sure, Festival is not on my top-10 power list for sure, the lack of draw is often significant enough to ignore it, but it's still a very a cute card.

Yup. Agree, but that's why it's a trap. A non-terminal silver never hurts your deck in the way terminal silver might and therefor it's so easy to bulk up on them, but if you don't have a plan for how to use the wishing-effect you will turn out with a rather mediocre deck. Bad cards are not traps, mediocre cards that show itself as awesome deluxe to you - as in my case with Mystic - are though.

A non-terminal Silver (including Silver itself) totally can hurt your deck, though, by making it harder to draw everything.

jester (i ALWAYS overbuy.  if jester is in the game, I'm not trying that hard to win.)
magpie!
chariot race
conclave
necromancer
rats
horn of plenty
minion
masquerade
fortress (this card feels like you're cheating!)

Honorable mention:
Baker (but just for the starting coin flexibility)

7) Mystic

I think the thing that makes mystic so much fun for for me is that it has so many amazing combinations.  it works with draw to X, it combos with anything that looks at the top cards of your deck....it's the kind of card that is just BEGGING you to turn it into a good card.
power wise, it's fine.
