Let's say I were to build a Kingdom consisting of the following ten cards:
City
Explorer
Farmland
Fishing Village
Hermit
Knights
Merchant Guild
Mine
Nobles
Worker's Village
What is the unifying theme that guided my choice of cards here? I.e., what do they have in common?
Hints, in order of increasing helpfulness:
- This set of ten is not totally unique for the theme, but it's close to unique; in a few cases I got to choose which to include out of two or three possible cards.
- You have to look outside of Dominion to spot the theme—but not very far beyond Dominion.
- There is a third hint, but this isn't it. Can you find it?
-
Is it Kingdom Builder?
-
Be more specific! :)

There are 10 Kingdom Builder cards
Citizens = City
Discoverers = Explorer
Farmers = Farmland
Fishermen = Fishing Village
Hermits = Hermit (This one's a pretty big stretch, I don't know...)
Knights = Knights (Only got this one by process of elimination)
Merchants = Merchant Guild
Miners = Mine
Lords = Nobles
Workers = Worker's Village

Thank you!
The similarity of the names was one of the first things I noticed the first time I played Kingdom Builder—actually not just the similarity of the names, but how many of them specifically correspond to Dominion villages: Farming and Mining, of course, in addition to the ones I used as clues.

Do I get to do one now?!
I need a minute to think.

Go for it!

What theme unites this kingdom of 10 cards?
Governor
Chapel
University
Library
Market
Militia
Horn of Plenty
Crossroads
Black Market
Develop
Hints
1. This is also a game-inspired theme.
2. The first 5 came very easily, as a subset.
3. One card name contains a hint, not to the game itself, but to the specific element of a game I'm using here here.

That looks like Catan

Kirian has it!
Specifically a certain deck of cards from that game, which is named Development cards.
Funny how all these games have so many names in common.
You going to go, Kirian?

Also, this morning, I'm thinking I should have used Embargo instead of Black Market.
Oh, I guess I should ask someone to see if the can match them up 1-to-1.
