Please submit your entries here:
The deadline is January 28.
-
This is probably covered somewhere else, but since you're here, and I'm here... can we submit multiple entries?
-
Yes.
-
I noticed there is no *required for the 4th kingdom card. You should fix it, 'cause OCD.
-
Agghhh! OK, fixed.
-
Agghhh! OK, fixed.
I imagine we do not need to resubmit previous submissions right? (at least submissions that contained a fourth kingdom card)
-
Nope. I just had to edit the form. Doesn't affect the entries.
-
Finally submitted! Played a fun set on iso, so I tweaked it and sent it in.
-
Gahh! I just played the most strategically complex kingdom on Goko, but it had two DA cards, and it would be impossible to replace those two cards with something else. I so want to submit it, but I can't :(
-
Any word on a deadline here?
-
Let's set the deadline, somewhat arbitrarily, for January 28, which is when the finals should be set.
-
I'm interested in getting a feel for how many other people have submitted and how many kingdoms they've gotten in. I have several dozen sitting around and submitted the couple dozen or so that I thought were the best in the past couple of days.
-
I sent in 2 so far.
-
I don't remember exact numbers cause it was some time ago, but I'd say 7 or 8.

Perhaps unfortunately for you, if it's like last year they won't use any of them if you make the final.
-
How super secretive do these have to be? I have a kingdom in mind, but there are a couple variables that I'd love to work out with another player. But if they are supposed to stay totally under wraps I understand that too.

I'd happily sacrifice the option to put my kingdoms (sounds lovely, btw) up for the vote to the chance to win this thing.
-
There are about 200 submitted so far.

Exercise your best judgment. The more people discuss it publicly the less likely it'll get picked.

Oh, I don't mean public discussion, I was just thinking of asking someone (nobody in particular, someone not in the finals who expresses interest in helping) if they wanted to discuss it over a couple test games on iso. But I understand if that's discouraged.
-
200! eep!

I submitted a dozen.

Oh, there's no problem with that. But I do not recommend enlisting Mic Q's assistance :P
-
Oh, there's no problem with that.
Then on this note...anybody who feels they have a decent grasp on strategy want to help me test a kingdom? ;D

Ok awesome! Secret chamber? Whenever you're ready.

Yes. I am lvl 41 but will be going on as unregistered so we can experiment.

Sounds good. Altusername? Although, there will be card constraints so it shouldn't be counted anyway.
-
I only submitted 1!
-
me too
-
I'm up for testing anything, provided you can find me online.
By the way, since you're picking cards, this won't affect ratings, but if you're really paranoid about finalists looking for sets by going through councilroom profiles, we can use alts...

Call me naive, but with the level of class represented by the finalists, I like to think that this is something we don't need to worry about.

Yeah, that's why I labelled it as 'really paranoid'. I'm not even so sure it's about class so much (though hey, they are that classy, whoever won the lespeuture v Stef match) as they have better things to do.
-
I closed the entry form. If you still have kingdoms you really want to submit, PM me with them and I can include them manually.
-
Just FYI, if your comments field includes the phrase (paraphrased to protect the guilty) "yeah I know this isn't fine-tuned or anything but I'm too lazy to make it perfect", your odds of being selected drop considerably.
Ditto if you included a Dark Ages card "just 'cause".
-
I can't find this anywhere: who will be selecting the 7 kingdoms for the championship games?
-
Me, and I might solicit input from GE/jonts/rrenaud. Though I think since jonts submitted a set of his own, either he won't participate or we won't use his set.
-
Can we know now, or whenever the submission stage is finally closed, some statistic about number of submissions, number of people submitting, levels, etc?
-
I'll try to do that.
In the meantime let's have a fun game. Name me the only (at least I think it's the only) card that not a single person in >200 submissions submitted. Keep in mind multiple people submitted what they called the Kingdom of Crap, and even Transmute and Adventurer each got almost 10 submissions.
-
Navigator
-
Envoy
-
Jack of all trades
-
I gotta go with Walled Village.
I love this challenge, by the way. Reminds me of when veto mode first came out, and after testing it for awhile, someone published a list of all the cards, in order of how frequently they were vetoed. Market, of course, is appropriately the least offensive card in Dominion.

Is this (http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=594.msg8195#msg8195) the post you're referring to, Robz?

Yes! Thanks.

Scavenger.
But seriously, I'll guess farmland.
-
Cellar
-
Scavenger.
But seriously, I'll guess farmland.
Even this isn't correct -- someone suggested a set with Scavenger (!!)
You all are picking cards that are way too interesting to be left off of everyone's submissions. This is a card that not a single person ever thought, "Yeah, this kingdom needs X!"

Having not seen the kingdoms I'm going to guess pearl diver.
-
Alchemist
-
I'm gonna have to go with Contraband
-
Woodcutter?
-
Tribute.
I cannot believe no-one made the Scout joke yet.
EDIT: If we may have a 2nd option, I want to add Stash.
-
Tribute.

Didn't we all include Scout in our own submissions?
-

The problem is that it would overtake every other strategy making the game a luck-based run for the Scout split.
"Scout split" that is not a common phrase.
-
Scout split? I assume Ambassador is involved.
-
In light of recent remarks, my second submission (if that's allowed) will be vagrant. I thought about EPguild, but in the end I think vagrant is more boring.
-
Village.
-

Feast
-
Mining Village?
Also I'll be submitting a couple kingdoms tonight if that's ok!
-
HARVEST
-
I've personally submitted kingdoms with most of the named cards already.
Mmm, maybe not stash. And I can't remember if I put a feast one in - I had one, but I don't know if it got through. That's a very good guess. Oh yeah, Harvest is good too.
Bureaucrat, Mine, Tribute, Fortune Teller are my best guesses. I guess, Mine.
-
HARVEST
Dude, I was thinking about putting harvest in one of my kingdoms! (But I've neither submitted yet nor did I include them in the final kingdoms.)
-
Explorer
-

Ding ding ding! Pearl Diver it is -- not one single person included it.
It's not a terribly rich design space that they left out. But it is down from 3/125 last year.
-
Just wait til The Guilds comes out, and Donald has added this card:
Pearl
Cost: $3
Type: Treasure
Worth: $0
If you move this card to the top of your deck, gain 2 Provinces.
-
Dang - and at some point I KNOW I had pearl diver in one of mine as 'cheap nonterminal du jour', but that probably got pushed out for something.
-
Edge case challenge. Putting stashes at the bottom to fish out with Pearl Divers. Is there a scenario in which this would be a useful strategy?
-
Pearl
Cost: $0
Type: Treasure
If this is the first Pearl card you've played this turn, +$4. Otherwise, +$1
___
When you shuffle your deck, place all Pearl cards at the bottom of the deck.
(Pearl has a distinct back)
-
Duchess never mind. lol
But, on the topic of Pearl Diver, I think it may actually be the worst Dominion card. It really does nothing. It cantrips, and its topdecking ability is really not all that relevant. Sometimes, you get a little bit lucky and slightly change what your next card will be. I think many people don't rank it as the worse $2 card because it usually doesn't hurt to have it in your deck. But, man, that card is so weak.
-
Still better than Adventurer.
-
Pearl Diver is one of those rare cards that you buy for the cantrip and nothing more. I haven't run into a situation where I considered the topdecking to be essential to my plan. I think using Pearl Diver to find Stashes isn't that useful; it's difficult to make a situation where you don't want to frontload your Stashes into one hand instead.

Or if they have 2 and everything else is crap.

I use the topdecking ability, but I don't get it for the topdecking ability...

Hmm ... Scrying Pool deck? Put Stashes on the bottom, then pull them up one by one as you need them (especially if you're at a stage where you're not sure if you can play all your +Buy cards).

Opponents' Top-deck or handsize attacks? Although, this would only be relevant if you wouldn't immediately draw the cards on the shuffle. And, by putting cards just after the top, you could draw the cards.
So, my edge case solution: Your opponent has a bunch of Minions and top of deck attacks and you don't know how far your deck you'll run. Also, you have a bunch of top-decking cards to take up space that Stashes would otherwise take.
-
Maybe you want to Upgrade the Stashes, and so rather than topdeck them all, you stick them at the bottom in hopes that your plentiful Pearl Divers and Upgrades will collide. Now, you'd need to be in a situation where you want lots of $6 cards while having lots of Stashes. Possibly you are Minting your Stashes to Upgrade into Grand Markets?

I can only imagine Minion games, where you also have one or two Stashes (possibly due to Swindler). In such games you usually want to play your Minion stack until right before the reshuffle, so it would be actually benefitial to have your Stashes there.
