You might have noticed the recent trend of making brackets out of stuff and then voting on it. Or maybe you haven't, if you live in a deep cave or in the Random Stuff thread. Anyway, brackets.
I am more of a tier person, but I digress.
So the idea here is, I took a PRNG, drew 16 random pages from the Random Stuff threads, and included the first eligible thing I found there.
Seeding is in random order, ties will be resolved randomly.
1. Booze & donuts
2. Explaining inside jokes
3. Computer viruses
4. 7-11
5. The metric system
6. Cookie clicker
7. Poker
8. Peanut Butter
9. Goko Salvager
10. Cheese quesadillas
11. Maths
12. Candles
13. Yoko Ono
14. Goat meat
15. Return of the Jedi
16. Parks and Recreation

1. Booze & donuts
2. Explaining inside jokes
Could any true f.dser vote differently? Anyway I found that the only thing donuts are good for is explaining topology to non-mathsy people.
3. Computer viruses
4. 7-11
7-11s are not a thing in Germany. Viruses are cool.
5. The metric system
6. Cookie clicker
I never got what people like about Cookie Clicker.
7. Poker
8. Peanut Butter
A hard one. Both of these are not my favorites within their respective groups, but you can use peanut butter to cook peanut curry, and that's pretty delicious. Also, when in doubt, always go for the food.
9. Goko Salvager
10. Cheese quesadillas
Goko Salvager is arguably the best thing that happened to online Dominion since isotropic.
11. Maths
12. Candles
This should be easy.
13. Yoko Ono
14. Goat meat
Well, I am a vegetarian, and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Yoko Ono is too.
15. Return of the Jedi
16. Parks and Recreation
That's not exactly an informed decision... but it's Star Wars, so well.

15. Return of the Jedi
16. Parks and Recreation
I made the last decision based on that while I haven't seen any Parks and Recreation, I have seen Return of the Jedi.

I couldn't really decide between Yoko Ono and Goat Meat, because they're both essentially the same thing.

I don't drink, so booze and donuts wins on the strength of donuts and explaining jokes being played out.
"Math" would have been a shoo-in, but "Maths" throws me into an irrational rage. There's no good reason for me to find it so obnoxious, it's just a difference in dialect. And I think all other differences between British English and American English are interesing, amusing, or cool. But for some reason, "Maths" is anathema to me.

You might be shocked to hear that the discussion I extracted them from was about how annoying that redundancy is. I decided to report them in all their redundant glory.
Also, I believe the original joke was "Goko Ono". People had even thumbed it!
I'm going to tally the votes some time tomorrow morning! :)
-
Sorry for the late post, my day was full of unforeseeable circumstances that left me with only my phone to connect to the Internet until now.
SECOND ROUND!
1 Booze & donuts - 2
2 Explaining inside jokes - 12
Unsurprisingly, the meme crushes the donuts and spills the booze.
3 Computer viruses - 8
4 7-11 - 5
This on the other hand came as a surprise to me. Maybe not everybody has ever had to endure a nasty executable or an empty stomach in a foreign city.
5 The metric system - 14
6 Cookie clicker - 0
The kilogram aces this one! Seemingly American f:dsers are of the enlightened kind. :P But have they realized that they just voted for the dreaded Celsius degree?
7 Poker - 5
8 Peanut Butter - 9
With more votes than any other contestant, although aptly spread over the whole bracket, Peanut Butter trumps Poker.
9 Goko Salvager - 10
10 Cheese quesadillas - 5
Past glories raise Salvager in the eye of the nostalgic.
Redundancy sinks quesadillas in the eye of the pedantic.
11 Maths - 11
12 Candles - 3
Mathematics are eternal and immutable (spelling aside), candles last at best a few days.
13 Yoko Ono - 6
14 Goat meat - 8
Goat meat wins this one in a landslide. I suspect the assonance with Goko might have hurt Yoko on this one.
15 Return of the Jedi 11
16 Parks and Recreation 3
17 Libraries 1
As old Granpa Anakin always used to say: "if you want to be big in pop culture, make sure to be at least 30 years old. Lightsabers and familiar plot twists also help. Have I mentioned that I'm your grandfather?"
So, surviving to next round:
2 Explaining inside jokes
3 Computer viruses
5 The metric system
8 Peanut Butter
9 Goko Salvager
11 Maths
14 Goat meat
15 Return of the Jedi
Good luck to all the contestants, and thanks to y'all for voting!

Again, not a surprising result, unlucky for the poor computer viruses to be matched against the activity which this entire community is built around.
5 The metric system - 10
8 Peanut Butter - 4
I like to see this as a cultural victory for Europe.
9 Goko Salvager - 7
11 Maths - 7
Ladies and gentlemen! A tie!
I'll roll a d2 to determine the winner, a result of 1 will give the win to Salvager, while any other result will result in Maths winning.
Oh, the tension! Oh, the randomness!
(http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/Themes/core/images/dice_warn.gif) This dice roll may have been tampered with!
Rolled 1d2 : 2, total 2
14 Goat meat - 6
15 Return of the Jedi - 8
No idea about what to write about this one, sorry. Move along.
The roll results and the next round after the break!

Wow, a possibly tampered with die roll may have determined the eventual winner!
The first one is very close, but I'll go with

Return of the Jedi had an easy schedule

Sorry, I had messed up bolding in the post so I had to edit it.
Or maybe you have just uncovered a worldwide conspiracy. Mathsgate (note spelling) is coming.

2 Explaining inside jokes - 3
5 The metric system - 4

And in a totally not unexpected twist, MATHS minces Jedi Knights to bits.
It will now have to face the terrifying METRIC SYSTEM, in a epic battle between pure and applied sciences.
ROUND TRHEE!

I declare the Bracket closed.
Maths is officially f.ds' Favorite Random Thing among 16 arbitrarily chosen Random Things!
Congratulations! You may now use this thread to make maths jokes, if you wish.

Some people would say I know a natural number of math jokes.
Others would say it's a paradox.

Parallel lines have so much in common... It's a shame they will never meet.
