Shraeye:  Is it worth getting whiskey stones?  And if so, what would you recommend?

I doubt it; those are a lot more painful when you pass them.

Man. I had four strips of bacon yesterday. Was one automatically undercooked, one automatically overcooked? No, let's put a stop to that right here, all four strips were excellent.

I don't think it matters since WW=WW. QED.

I'm going to a bar tonight famous for its wide selection of beers. The only problem is that I don't like beer. Sigh. So in an effort to not look silly by just ordering Angry Orchards, I'm researching beers that sound potentially appealing on their menu.

And it's so cool! I'm learning so much from BeerAdvocate.com and now I have a bunch of interesting-sounding stuff I want to try. A chocolate beer, a sticky toffee ale, a banana bread beer, a witbier. Now I'm actually excited to go and try them!

In addition to those: Vanilla Stout, Cream Ale, any Sour, are all pretty good beers for people who don't like beers in general, I find.

Also, this evening, I made a "Short Island Iced Tea", meaning I tried for the LIIT, but was missing a few ingredients.  My improvisations made it palatable, but not as good as the original (I was missing gin, sour mix, and triple sec...I improvised with lemon juice, orange flavoring, and turn the splash of coke into a pour of it).  I'm excited to try again with more of the proper ingredients.

I think it was vanilla porter I was thinking of, vanilla stout might be a bit strong.

Try not to worry about what other people think and just drink Angry Orchards all night. You'll have a much more delicious evening.

But I want to expand my tastes! I just want to minimize the risk of buying bottles that I just can't stand. And this place has such a wide selection, it'd feel like a waste not to sample some exotic flavors.

Dirty lies! It was more than palatable! Two times palatable! I'm obviously the expert in the field as I consumed most of said drink.

I don't know if you have a wegmans near you, or if whatever grocery store you do have does this, but my Wegmans has a "build your own 6-pack" station where they have a case of singles, most of them craft, and you pick and choose what you want for $12.  So sure, it's more expensive than a normal 6-pack, but you get to find out what you like and aren't stuck with a 6-pack of beer you hate.  At least, you're not likely to.

Some of my favorites I've pulled out of there:
Duck Rabbit Hoppy bunny American Black ale (Yes, I got this because Hoppy.  And I know that's a beer term.  I don't care.  Still delicious)
Yard's George Washington Porter (Actually George washington's recipie)
some other brews from a local brewery
Various great lakes beers.  Both of which were good

So I had the Banana Bread Ale; I liked it but it was still a little beery for me. I was also getting really full the entire time I was drinking it, which was kind of a bummer because I wanted to try the chocolate stout afterwards but figured something lighter would be better. I also had a mix of Blanch de Bruxelles (the witbier) and Frambois (a lambic) which was fruity and tasty. Then I finished the evening with an Angry Orchard because it'll never let me down.

Fun night!

There's a place near me that does the same thing: http://thetipsycrow.com/p-3338-the-drink-exchange.html

I may or may not be banned from the bar though...
