So yeah, that was a crazy round - it's the first time I've successfully used the zero clue*. I loved the Vote: scola joke for it, btw, but stayed quiet as the spymaster.
* I used it once in an in person game (remember those from the Before Times), and the person misunderstood and guessed the exact clue, the assassin, that I was trying to avoid.
Post mortem:
INTERNATIONAL (6): Spy, Embassy, Earth, Washington, Football, Church
KING (0): Ruler, Princess
WOOLY (1): Mammoth
GOALS (2): Football, Dream
CAPITOL (1): Washington
I love going big and I knew there were some hazards with INTERNATIONAL, but I thought they'd be mostly from the neutral words. I didn't think you'd go with Ruler or Princess because to me they felt more "national", less "inter". I also hoped you'd think Washington before England because DC is a very international city, whereas, with the exception of London, I don't see England as that international either. And yes International Football as in soccer (I am a bug fan) and Church spans multiple nations. So hopefully get 2-4 in the first round, only hit neutrals, and then have some idea for the +1 of future rounds.
But then you did debate both Ruler and Princess! If it had just been the one, I might have risked sticking with ours words, but with both, I figured I'd try the zero clue (also it allowed unlimited guesses and you still had 4 left from the first round).
It didn't occur to me that King could point to Washington and remove it from your possibles. Though after I did think of Martin Luther King and both the March on Washington and the I have a Dream speech. So was worried you'd avoid both those.
It helped they got Brush for us, and were probably going to get Football (before the excellent Kaep: 0 clue), so I was now focussed on Washington, Dream, and Mammoth. Couldn't think of anything to combine those that I liked. Maybe: Big (2) for dreams (big dreams)? but also big change and big socks (to fill) and we had a decent lead, so decided not to risk it.
Then when it was clear they weren't guessing Football for us, came up with Goals for Dream and Football. Was a little worried you might go Point, since a goal is a point, which is why I went with the plural version.
And then I already explained my reasoning around the last clue.
My last thought is for the last blue turn, there were 4 non blue words, Washington, Change, South, and Point. There was already reason to believe Change was not Blue and maybe Washington, so was thinking maybe he could have gone DIRECTION:0, to get you to skip South and Point and not get the remaining blue.
