If any town person votes Joseph because we haven't seen a hammer, that would be terrible. Gkrieg's vote especially before doing any rereading or considering possible mafia teams is more likely to mean he is mafia than Joseph and a bus is very possible too.

So now we kind of have a 1v1 between gkrieg and Joseph with the possibility that they're both scum. That's good, I think it's the first solid evidence we have on players (outside of list poe and wagon analysis). Maybe we could do like a fake-vote type thing?
