Title: Anyone have a game log for Turbo-Remake?
Post by: tko on June 29, 2011, 02:18:38 pm
Lately I've been reading the terms Turbo-Upgrade and Turbo-Remodel.  I assume Throne Room or King's Court serves as the "Turbo" but that's just a guess.  Anyone have a game log for Turbo-Remake?

Thanks in advance!

Well, there's this (http://"http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20110617-152001-73956d39.html") game, where injudicious use of Remake by me destroys my economy, while my opponent chains Remakes to get Provinces.

Turbo-Remake isn't actually as likely to happen, as Remake already has the Turbo built in. King's Courting a Remake doesn't do anything more than Throne Rooming one does, unless you also have a +cards engine. (It's still better, though, because you can Remake your Courts in endgame.)

If I remember correctly, Turbo Remodel was a base set strategy built around Throne Room, Chapel and Remodel. You eventually chapel down to a hand like TR/Remodel/Chapel/Province/Province, where you've gotten the Provinces by Throned Remodels at each step of the way. The idea is that once you get there, you can very quickly end the game before your opponent can do much about it.

This strategy is not extensible to Remake for a couple of reasons:

1) You need a 7 in order to get all the way to Provinces;
2) You don't have the option of Remaking an 8 to an 8.

I have had one setup where I tried a pure Remake strategy to get Provinces. It sucked pretty bad.

And actually, looking over it, describing that as a pure Remake strategy is pretty inaccurate, although that was certainly a big chunk of what I was going for.

Well, if I recall, the other problem with Turbo Remodel was that while it was a cute way to beat novices it wasn't fast enough to beat experts ;)

Here are a few sample games.  They may not work against "experts" but I like this style of deck a lot.

Well, those games are just regular use of a trash-for-benefit card to make a working deck out of other cards. When people say "Turbo Remodel" they mean a deck that uses Remodel as the key card in the deck to rush to endgame without building a separate economy.
