Nobody reads from the bottom up--and I mean that literally: no lanugages on Earth read from the bottom up.  Why the heck is player order from the bottom up, rather than top down or left to right?  For that matter, why is my character at the bottom at all?

(I've kept intending to bring this up but it kept slipping my mind.  It cam to mind again when talking about the layout in another thread.  In two-player games it's not a big deal, but in multiplayer it destroys my mind.  Not literally.)

Play proceeds upward.  That's really all.  It's highly counterintuitive.

I just figured it was sorta like sitting around a table but since the cards don't leave room for opponents all the way around, they got squished off to one side. So, play order is clockwise. It just so happens that the players are at 7, 8, 9, and 10 o'clock. I have actually played irl where we were much closer to a line than a circle. This feels like that.
