I've PLAYED a game where I did this. And lost. Actually every game I've seen this happen, the guy who did it lost. A little weird.
Seems like too much work for not enough benefit.

Well, this definitely isn't what you're looking for, but it technically works:
You have 3 gardens and 4 other cards islanded, and your hand is KC, Expand, 3x Peddler. Expand all the peddlers into colonies gives 30, then the copper gets up to exactly 20 cards, good for an extra 3 points from the gardens.

This is tough; I have no idea how to do it with exactly 5 cards. The best I can do is 30.

She plays native village, picking up a bunch of KCs, monuments, Bishops, and TRs from her mat.

Alternately, she has a bunch of havens coming in with the same type of cards.

Alternatively, just go with Dsnowman's solution.

I would love to see all the answers, but I don't really care whether or not they go on the blog.

I don't think FT is good. I think it's pretty darn bad. Just not as bad as you think.
Which 5 3s do you think are worse?

@Elyv: In your solution, it looks like you have Tribute interacting with all opponents, but it only interacts with the opponent to your left, so only the solution you listed for 2p works (but of course it will work for any number of players)
Oops, I've never actually played with Tribute in a 3+ player game.

@ARTjoMS: With Mining Village, I know Secret Chamber would work, but I'm not seeing any other variations. Am I missing something here as well?
It can replace FV in my first solution and it can replace silver in Buttons' solution, if nothing else.

2) Going second, open Fishing Village/watchtower. Opponent opens ambassador/secret chamber. Turn 3, opponent ambassadors his secret chamber, watchtower it to the top of your deck. On your turn, play fv, watchtower, then sc.

Also works in a 2p game, though.

Edit: some more solutions: 3p+: Open tribute/nothing, hit copper/silver from both opponents.

2p: Open tribute/secret chamber, hit great hall/island + any other green or treasure, then secret chamber.

You know he has a hand full of actions and the only prizes left are followers/princess, so if you reveal the province he can draw his prize on the next turn when he might not have as many colliding terminals.

I think Remake might be able to squeeze its way onto the best $4 list, and I also think Fortune Teller is one of the worst $3s.

PS is a good card as long as there is no good way to chain, trash, or get money from non-treasure sources. Otherwise, it's pretty bad.

136
Oh wow, I did not know that. Thanks!

Does this also effectively show you what's in the black market deck if it's in the kingdom?
You can click the info tab to see the BM deck.

I feel like it depends on the board. If there are a lot of good actions/cursing attacks, I'd rather trash the copper so I can draw my mountebanks or whatever more frequently. If there aren't, I'd rather get silvers so I can get my golds faster.

Kings Court, Bridge, ______ Games all look the same.

I'm curious what the fastest possible turn for have something like that happen would be, and what Kingdom would do it.

One of the fastest I can think of could be something like:

Steward
Quarry
Talisman
Bridge
Upgrade
Grand Market
Bridge

Open Something like Steward/Talisman.
Steward away Estate/Copper
Buy Talisman, gaining 2x Talisman on the talisman purchase.
Buy Quarry gaining 2-3x Quarry on the next talisman hand.

From there on out, hope for something like Steward, Quarry, 3x Talisman, buy Four Grand Markets. Take off like a rocket ship.

Buy multiple Grand Markets/Upgrades.
Buy more GM's, Bridges as ideal. Get Kings courts when you can. Upgrade your Talismans/Quarry into Upgrades, into Grand Markets, into Kings Courts

I'd suspect you could explode somewhere around turn 12-13 or so to end the game on 1 turn?
It's theoretically possible to buy every colony on turn 5(http://dominionstrategy.com/2011/05/06/dominion-puzzle-1-solution), so my guess is that you could buy every green card in the supply on turn 6.

I've used them as spares.

When the opponent has envoy, it can definitely matter. Otherwise, not really.

I would also prefer the idea of msuroo. Just make a forum thread for a blog article and you can comment on it. In the blog you set a link to the forumthread.
Second(or third, or whatever) this.

Contraband can be fine as long as actions are at a premium and/or there are no other good 5s and you get stuck with 5. I try to avoid buying it anyway, but somehow I have a good winrate with it.

I think Transmute is terrible, and I ignore it.

Am I missing something painfully obvious, or is it only possible to get to 8VP as Titandrake has written it...?
You're missing something.

11 kingdom, 4 basic victory cards(including colony), 5 basic treasures(including platinum and potion), and curse makes 21.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Scrying Pool + discarding for cash
« on: July 07, 2011, 12:28:35 pm »
I stumbled across this combo a couple weeks ago when I pulled secret chamber out of the BM deck in a scrying pool deck in this game.

Quote
   Elyv plays a Secret Chamber.
   ... discarding a Monument, an Apothecary, a Saboteur, a Lighthouse, a Familiar, 5 Conspirators, 2 Black Markets, a Woodcutter, 3 Cities, and 3 Scrying Pools for +$19.

I can't imagine how absurd it'd be if vault/secret chamber were actually in the kingdom.

How to counter Jester? Be thankful it's not Mountebank or Witch and get on with your game :P
Ugh, mountebank openings.

Is there any way of beating them other than "buy a bunch of ambassadors or masquerades" or "Hope that they get unlucky/are not very good"?

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Jester
« on: July 06, 2011, 11:11:12 pm »
I like Jester, but it's not very good. Most of the time, it'll give the other person a copper or curse while removing a bad card from the top of their deck, so why not just play witch(or, of course, mountebank) and guarantee curses instead?

Also, when you hit a silver or some other mediocre 3/4, most of the time it has basically no impact on the game.

Game Reports / Re: 8 Provinces on turn 13 with no KC
« on: July 06, 2011, 01:24:42 pm »

The one card I see more than any other in these glorious turns is Bridge.  I'm shocked it has such a high Win Rate Without.
In addition to what Jack Rudd said, it's easy to remember the times you get crushed by someone playing 5+ bridges in one turn, so you buy it on boards where it's just not good, and then lose.

At least, that's what happened to me for a while.

Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Make up your own card?
« on: June 27, 2011, 03:06:17 am »
That card is very, very good. I think it's probably better than chapel.

Actually, compare it to witch. Witch draws you two cards and puts one bad card in the opponent's deck; this draws 2 cards and takes 3 bad cards out of yours. Oh, and it costs 1 less.

It's definitely a neat concept, though; I like the idea of a trasher which draws cards first.

Game Reports / Re: Interesting Warehouse Board
« on: June 24, 2011, 01:19:19 pm »
I would probably open Warehouse/Potion, planning to grab some familiars, and then basically go straight big money, possibly grabbing some more warehouses, harvest, and mint along the way.

The other option I can see is to go for treasure maps, but I've generally had bad experiences with treasure map unless I'm playing chapel or something, and here I'd probably try to grab some familiars first.
