Obviously, ignoring the case where your hand is four green cards and HT.

but that's a bad hand, in that case if you don't reveal HT, you aren't trying to trick him.

also, although ADK is correct that other considerations are usually foremost, you shouldn't disregard the discard attack of minion completely.

It's probably not as powerful as militia, but I don't think the difference is really that much.

the problem is probably rather the fact that it takes a considerate amount of balls to not reveal HT if you have a good hand

Dominion General Discussion / Horsie Traders/Minion interaction
« on: August 01, 2014, 04:55:49 pm »
So, in a game earlier today I realized the following: when you have horse traders in hand and your opponent plays a minion, you can choose between this hand and a new hand (since if you do reveal horse tradres, minion attack doesn't affect you because you only have a 4card hand). however, when you choose not to reveal horse traders in order to get rid of a bad hand, your opponent can choose not to let you discard.

so, it should also be possible to fake a bad hand by not revealing horse traders, possibly stopping your opponent from doing more in his turn because he doesn't want to help you. this only works because of goko's implementation, you know that your opponent has horse traders in hand even if he doesn't use it, but it seems interesting. anyone ever done it?

no... there is actually some way in which i think we can abuse the system to find out more, I wanted to wait until its more active to post it. but either way, i dont think lynching someone now is a good idea. ash could be scum but he could totally be town too.

A lot of on-trash abilities are nuts with Watchtower.  We all pointed that out when Dark Ages was released, but we dealt with it.  There aren't all that many boards with Watchtower, Platinum, and [Fan Card], and when they do align there is just a sneaky thing you can do to get early Platinums with a Watchtower and a $5 hand.  That's not so terrible.

As for the Gold, if Watchtower had been a Silver instead you'd have a $7 hand, but I'm allowing a Village and Gold with that hand.  Doesn't sound insane to me.  That's what combos do.

i agree, it's not terrible if you can gain platinum. But I like "gain a gold" better anyway, not because treasure is broken, but because "gain a gold" is shorter, more elegant and mostly identical.

I kind of liked them more as gems. but regardless, i completely agree with geo that "gain a gold" is better than "gain a treasure"

rebuild/graverobber is the way to go. forget vault, hunting party or highway. every 5$ spend on one of those should be a duchy, a rebuild or a graverobber instead.

I actually came into this thinking that these kinds of posts are all fine. Like, isn't this a separate world from reality where everyone changes his personality?

and I'd further argue that I was just saying that you are being arrogant in this game, which may or may not apply to real life as well, but it doesn't have to.

People are hilarious.

you were the first one who was getting personal, not me or anyone else. you could argue that hilarious isn't an insult, but I'd argue that it clearly is in this context

my reads would be
scum hydrad, mostly because of the defense
scum ash, because of the incredible amount of nonsense that is coming out of him, which to me seems completely unnecessary; and the way in which he is both arrogant and rude to everyone seems like an attempt to intimidate us. Like, hey I'm the best player here and you should follow my leads. Lynching me is of course completely out of question.

but apparently that is his usual behavior for some reason, so that's probably just me lacking experience

and maybe slight town read on andrew

Yeahhh... what exactly was the point of that? We have more than a week to actually discuss things.

Please provide a list of these "things" which we can "discuss."

Well first of all, we haven't really heard from scott, Egor, or Robz at all, and barely anything from mail-mi, Arch, and chairs if I'm not mistaken. Is there a problem with wanting to hear from everybody in order to form reads? Is there a problem with discussing things?

No problem.  But you are unable to come up with these "things" you seem to think are so important.

Nowhere did I say there are specific "things" we need to discuss. Simply that we have plenty of time for discussion and we should take advantage of that.

Ummm...in the original post I quoted, you specifically said "things."  Come on man.

he said things, but not specific things. it's the difference between "we need to talk about this" and "we need to talk"

I initially saw the unvote scummy, but it could also be a new player not sure how things are supposed to go.  the only game he played was a blitz, I believe.

to my defense, if I was scum, I don't believe I would have unvoted him. Instead, since it's 5am, I would have pretended to go to sleep and hope for someone else to hammer him while i'm not there. That wouldn't have been suspicious, and voting for him in the first place also didn't make me look suspicious, so overall I'd gotten a chance to lynch a town without getting in any kind of trouble myself.

what actually happened was, I read Andrews post, thought that he was right, and unvoted without considering how it would make me look like.

Those first two are still from the OP's wording. Why the third? I think "this" is less ambiguous than "it".

i'm not sure what you mean. they are all quotes from your post

the third is

Quote
When you discard this from your hand, you may reveal this

that doesn't sound good. If you refer to the same thing twice, use it the second time. when you discard this, .... you may reveal it.

I would note the first unvote to take a player out of the imaginary danger zone of L-1 is wholeheartedly scummier than any single voter on said wagon.
yes i realized that after i did it. the smart thing would have been to not answer that post. I completely understand if it makes me look like scum.

the reason i did it is, because I didn't really consider how much time we have left. isn't it likely that after a few days, there's someone with a higher probability of being scum? if not, we can still lynch him
