Okay, now I am practically certain Jotheonah is scum.

What I know is that I am a one-shot regenerating protector. And I specifically protect the doctor. What this means is that should a kill attempt be made on the doctor at night I catch the first bullet and live. Any additional attacks on the doctor will succeed in killing him not me. I am notified of the attempted kill. My power regenerates during the day so it is available on the next night. Obviously time-travel antics could mess with this royally but here is what I know for certain:

sudgy died last night. sudgy claims to have targeted walrus. sudgy died and flipped Town doctor so I should believe all of that.
someone attempted to kill sudgy (or "the doctor", I don't know the identity of "the doctor") and that attempt failed because my power prevented it.
so, either sudgy targeted scum and mafia tried to kill him or sudgy targeted Town and 2 hits were made on sudgy (implying an SK). There are some other possibilities but these two are the most likely and Jotheonah's claim of having targeted sudgy to explain away why I might have witnessed him targeting sudgy (when that wasn't the case but he thought it was before this post) suggests he made the kill attempt on sudgy.

caveat: my role description does not identify "the doctor" so I don't know if sudgy strictly qualified as "the doctor". It is possible my power applies to anyone with doctor in their role. hell, it may only apply to EFHW.

Why did Jotheonah never tell us he witnessed sudgy's target action last night? I specifically put the subtle question out there at the start of today in the context of discussion so that a claim wouldn't have to be made to explain that maybe he did what he said he did.

Why? you think scum would claim that? I know, but thta's not really my defense because I am aware i am an exception to that very question. I guess I ask that to see if you are saying anyone who bid for the slot 3 must be scum or PPS is scum because he bid slot 3 and notPPS would get a more friendly read?

My actual defense is that I'd much rather a known townie have the sword-stick than a scum. Oh, did I just reveal exactly which item I bid on and won? Yes, yes I did. Yep, I'm the vig. claimed and all. Doesn't seem like very strong scum or town play if you ask me but I walked into this shit pile because I didn't bother to see what is in slot 3 when I agreed to the claim plan. I probably would have done that if I were, in fact, scum. Put yourself in my shoes, you are draft #2, which item do you bid on regardless of your alignment?

If PPS is scum...
—he can not shoot until it’s most useful, saying he’s towny for not shooting
—double kill with less alive is powerful for scum
—if there are multiple scum factions, non-PPS scum should shoot him

If PPS is town...
—he can not shoot and say he’s being towny, but risk the unverified claim conundrum
—is probably a sensible NK choice for any scum

If he’s lying, that makes no sense.  So he’s probably not lying.

I’d say all in all, it’s indicative of PPS being pps.

For the record, I understood "the highest in draft order among them will recieve the penalty item instead of their original choice" to mean that the lowest number gets the penalty item, so I was trying to give scum the Miller because I had a very high number (i.e. I thought I was considered very "low" in draft order). It was only after receiving the Miller myself that I realized it didn't work like that.

Actually, there's a thing... I am confirming it is still in my possession with faust. I can confirm that I did receive it so there is no way anyone else has it. It may be broken, though. If it is I am not currently aware.

Everyone should go read the whole description of sword stick in Box 3, then read between the lines of what PPS is saying, and vote him.
