Ok, so to be fair, I never actually got to play KC + Torturer.

I don't think it's that Torturer is a card you don't want, rather it's a card that you want to play multiple copies of for maximum effectiveness. Without the ability to do that (which King's Court granted you anyway ), it's a +3 card militia generally.
