Oh, when should I start it up?

Honestly? (and you can lynch me for saying this) Probably after SOMETHING ends somewhere. I think my brain might explode otherwise.

I need to dig up the post where people were laughing at Robz for being crazy enough to be in TWO (*Gasp!*) Mafia games at the same time....

I think this actually is one to many mafia for me! Just don't have the time. Galzria gets the chance to overtake me, after all.

They ARE human!! :O

Okay, amazingly, I think I actually have a workable version of my Mafia Tarot deck.

So, uh, put me in line to Mod Mafia IX, I guess!

I was inspired by the Great Idea Mafia Open setup. I've tweaked my version a little to ensure more balance between the various factions.

I think it's going to be a partially open setup; I'm going to reveal what roles all the pip and face cards are assigned to, but not what the Major Arcana do. They're... special.

Here's a sample setup spread:

Town
5 Vanilla Townies
2 Masons
1 Cop (Mafia/Non-Mafia)
1 Backup Tracker
1 One-Shot Strongman Vig
1 One-Shot Dayvig
1 Innocent Child

Mafia
1 Mafia Roleblocker
1 Mafia Doctor
1 Mafia Watcher

Werewolves
1 Werewolf Tracker
1 Ninja Werewolf

Third Party
1 Werewolf-Immune SK

Cayvie, I can't see myself playing in a game of that magnitude, but if you need a deputy mod when the time comes I'd be happy to serve. (I'd love to watch that one from the inside knows-the-set-up side)

One Backup Tracker, but no Town Tracker?  Does the Backup Tracker spontaneously become a Werewolf if the Werewolf Tracker dies?

...or does the town get a reward for killing the Werewolf Tracker by having the (Town) Backup Tracker suddenly become a Tracker?  That's... kind of an interesting mechanic, actually.  Makes the Mafia maybe think twice about trying to kill Werewolves.

So I would like to host a newbie/loser's mafia game... same structure as pops first one... mostly one that is a little more basic and simple (perhaps for people that want to play but are a bit intimidated by all of the intricacies of the games going on right now, as well as cayvie's).

But I don't want to step on any toes by running another game parallel to the ones already running and the ones about to start.

I don't want to not include the regular people that want to play, but I think I might give priority registration to newer players and players that haven't played as well... like a few days priority registration... and then accept more experienced players.

Thoughts?

I count 18?  I read the 3 tarot cards as something that may either move around, or may or may not replace vanilla townies?

Also: the game does not need 21 players, that was just a sample deal of 21 cards.

Any number ~14+ should work.

Yes, in that sample deal, the backup tracker would become a tracker after the scum tracker died.

I'm IX.

Do you really think I should post a signup for my game?

There's FOUR open signups right now, and five games currently running.

edit--i guess my game would be the fourth.

Ehh, I'm not sold on having too many sign-up threads open. People may forget what they've signed up for and where. Once a game is going you're involved, so it doesn't slip your mind - but I could see someone signing up for multiple games, having them start, and then realizing they committed to too many.

We're working with about the same 15+ people at this point, and most will be in for whatever is running, I don't know that there's a need to have it listed so far in advance of other games (games that will launch before it) even having started.

I would wait to post sign-ups until VIII starts, but that's just me. I don't think it would HURT to have it there now, but I think it might clutter things up.
