I was cooking up an idea for Schroedinger's mafia - in which you were playing in 2 games simultaneously - with 2 different roles, but which role was which was unknown and only collapsed on observation.
I couldn't figure out how to make it work well enough to actually try to run though.
Schroedinger's Mafia
- The town consists of 7 Boxes, 1 Town Cop, and 1 Mafia Cop.
- Each night, the Town Cop and Mafia Cop must select a single player to investigate. A Cop cannot investigate the same player more than once. If they do not select a target, their target will be randomly rolled.
--- If the investigated player is a Box, then the Mod rolls a 4-sided die. On a 1, the player becomes a Poison. On a 2-4, the player becomes a Cat. The investigating Cop is told the player's alignment (Cats are Town-aligned; Poison is Mafia-aligned). The player is also told at the start of the Day that their role has changed, and, if Poison, they receive the Mafia QT link.
--- If the investigated player is already a Cat or Poison, the investigating Cop is told the player's alignment.
--- The Mafia Cop is investigation-immune. If the Town Cop investigates him, he is read as Town. (If the Mafia Cop investigates the Town Cop, he receives a "Town" result but is not told the target's role, i.e., that his target is the Town Cop.)
--- Boxes, Cats, and Poison have no abilities, other than their vote (and the fact that a Box's alignment is not determined until investigated).
--- If both Cops die, all remaining Boxes immediately become Cats or Poison (using the same random roll procedure as if they were investigated). Each such player is informed of their role at that time.
--- The Mafia team has their normal factional nightkill, with one restriction: they cannot choose to nightkill the same player being targeted by the Mafia Cop that night.
--- The game has a night start, with one restriction: the Mafia cannot use their nightkill on the first night.
Thoughts, gang?
