Welcome to Bastard Mafia III where you'll get nothing and like it! I'll have sign ups for 48 hours or until BM2 ends.

THESE RULES HAVE BEEN ADDED
New Rules In Effect
1) If you can hammer someone you MUST I will start posting the actual number needed to lynch
2) There is a new way for everyone to win but first a big reveal you are indeed all jesters (except Galz)
    2a) You start at 0VP, If you lynch someone without triggering their win condition you earn a VP. Getting to 3VP is another way to trigger a win for yourself

Bastard Mafia rules blatantly stolen from Bastard Mafia I.  Changes are in blue, along with the Role PM.

I don't think this game will take nearly as much thought/discussion as other games so I think it's fine if it's run concurrently with the others.  Because it's a silly game rules will be lax but I'll put them here anyway.  I'll leave registration open for a day or so.  I hope this doesn't violate any intergalactic dibs laws.  This game will have a night start. This game will have a day start despite my leaving this line in from Bastard Mafia I.

Mafia Ruleset (blatantly stolen from Axxle, as always)

Game Rules:

General Gameplay and Etiquette:
1. You may not quote private Moderator-supplied information (either real or fabricated) of any kind. Paraphrasing (for role claims, etc.) is acceptable.
2. There is to be NO personal communication outside of the forum postings unless your role PM specifically allows it. Mafia members may communicate at night and during the confirmation stage.
3. If you have a role with a Night action your choices are due to me by the posted deadline. If I do not receive your choice via PM by the posted deadline you will forfeit your actions. In case of multiple submissions, the last valid one before the deadline will be used.
4. Roles with Night actions will not be able to submit an action on Night 0 (i.e. during the confirmation stage).
5. Any player with a Night action may instead submit a “No Action” PM to let the Mod know that you do not want to perform your expected action that Night phase.
6. As a general rule you should aim for one post every 48 hours, minimum, to keep the game moving.
7. You may ignore rule 1.  Regarding rule 2, see role PM.

Voting, Deadlines, and Player Death:
1. A simple majority (rounded up) of all living members must agree on one person for a lynch to occur prior to deadline.
2. Once you have reached a simple majority no further unvoting will change someone’s fate. Further votes will also be ignored.
3. Once a player is lynched the game enters twilight until I post a death scene; all players including the one who was lynched may continue to post during twilight.
4. Please submit votes as: Vote: PlayerName. Votes will NOT be counted if they are not bold! Obvious abbreviations or nicknames will be counted so long as they are unambiguous.
5. Please submit vote revocations as either Unvote: PlayerName or Unvote. Unvotes are not necessary before changing votes.
6. You may Vote: No Lynch - a simple majority of these vote types are required to send the game to Night phase without a lynch.
7. This game will have 2 week 5 day Day deadlines (but see the Role PM), with 24 hour Night deadlines. If a player or No Lynch does not have a simple majority at Day end, no lynch will occur, and the game will go into night.
8. Once you are killed (either via lynch or night kill) you may no longer post. This means that you do not even get a “Bah” post. The dead in this game are silent.
9. Do not edit or delete posts. We don't want some players having more information than others.  If you want to clarify posts, feel free to double post.
10. You may ignore rule 8.

Miscellaneous/Mechanics:
1. Bold, blue text is reserved for the Mod. No invisible/small text is allowed, nor is cryptography.
2. If you have an issue/problem with the game, please PM the Mod privately. Do not post issues/complaints in the game thread.
3. The Mod may make mistakes - please point out any mistakes gently. Mistakes will be corrected where possible, but sometimes mistakes are made that cannot be reversed. These will stand as final to be commiserated over after the game.
4. Please bold all requests to the Mod so that they don’t get missed.
5. Prods of missing players will be issued automatically after 72 hours of no activity or upon request after 48 hours of no activity. A prodded player has 48 hours to respond or risks replacement Modkill. A player who has been prodded 3 times is subject to replacement Modkill without further notice.
6. Rule violations will be dealt with according to their severity, up to and including a Modkill.
7. If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.

Where is your curiosity people?  NO ONE KNOWS what will happen when we lynch eHalcyon.  We could all die, we could automatically lose with no winner.  He could explode in a shower of sparks which becomes 5,000,000 eHalcyons.  The possibilities are infinite (like the limit of the goodness of these cookies).

Things weren't looking so cheery for Galzria. He had been pushed and pushed to the edge yesterday, and finally he just couldn't take it anymore. He had been eyeing that cliff for some time (admittedly in the hopes of knocking somebody else off it), but now it seemed perhaps the cliff could provide his own escape from this wretched world.

So it was that Galzria found himself starting down into the vast chasm, the thought of eternal and blissful abyss coursing through his body. With nary a look back, Galzria sighed contentedly and threw himself from the ledge.

7.2 seconds. That's all it took. He would've sworn the chasm was deeper than that.

Wait... How could he know how long it took? Shouldn't he be dead? This was unexpected. Galzria didn't even feel any pain. WAS he dead? He couldn't tell. No... No, he could tell. Death would've brought him his escape. There was simply no way that he would be brought back to this disgusting, pitiful, wretched land.

With the sad realization that his attempt at suicide had failed, he decided the next course of action would be to get back to the town before anybody woke. No need to clue them in to his folly.

But wait... Behind that tree... Was that Robz and ftl? What were they doing here?

***Galzria came to hours later. How long? He couldn't tell. The sun was still low in the sky and he seemed to be all alone. Dreading what he might find, he looked down at the mutilation caused at ftl's hand.

Well, he may no longer be able to speak, but Galzria would be damned before he saw a no lynch occur. He didn't know how, but he knew if he sent his prayers, his vote would be heard. And ftl had just earned himself lynchee target #1.

Galzria listened intently as the squirrel chattered away at him. It seemed Robz wasn't the main culprit behind his current condition. Instead, a new name entered the fray: Voltgloss.

Galzria didn't trust this. Anybody with the power to change the very nature of a being was somebody who didn't need to be around much longer.

Disagree with bus driver guess.  If your info is correct, I would say that either Robz is Galz or Galz is Robz, so when you said to give it to Galz, it was given to Robz, who is Galz.  It also makes the "don't vote for yourself" modkill rule make more sense, because at any point you might accidentally vote for yourself.

Yeah, when you stray too far from basic (which isn't even necessarily that far), it turns out there's a lot of pitfalls you can fall in when designing a Mafia game.

I remember a game I designed, on mtgsalvation maybe, that wound up with nobody capable of winning because of the way N1 actions went.

My opinion though is, honestly, if you think this game's broken, just to let it die and try running a bastard game again later. It's not like anyone's going to hold it against you. Emergency fixes... tend not to, and the wind's kind of out of the sails, at least for me.

Galzria hummed tunelessly to himself. He recalled ages past, seeming lifetimes ago... He remembered the good days, and he remembered the bad. He remembered the times (and there were many) when he was one vote shy of being hung. How he had dreaded the thought then. Ironic that he would one day find himself attempting suicide. If only he had known how stressful life in this wretched town would be he would have begged them to cast the final vote.

But he really couldn't complain. Perhaps everything that happens has a reason. Life in the first really wasn't too bad, and not having to inhale the stench of the citizens in that village was absolutely wonderful.

Captain_Frisk - Had a tendency when this game started that I had noticed to point out everyones vote counts, so he had to die to the loudest person on the day.

Galzria - Called out my setup as being all jesters, all vts, or all suicidal, so he got to be a suicidal jester.

Robz888 - His numbers are 8's didn't have much to go on since I wasn't playing and even if I was it probably wouldn't have been fair to involve a feud with me in his wincon

eHalcyon - I started the timestamp of the vote mattering with Robz and I liked it so I played around with it a bit for others and gave odd day odd hour to ehal. In the pregame he asked for an ability since he didn't have one in BM2 so I gave him one, one that would loudly take him out with someone else.

Axxle - He was supposed to be a cop in M3, and because of that he made me a rolecop in BM1. So I made him the cop he was supposed to be here. Added Even, even

Ozle - In M1 he roleclaimed cop as mafia and got caught for doing so. So here I made him a vig that would loudly announce anytime he used his ability (there woulda been some like trip and fall flavour or somethinig). Gave him Odd day, even hour. Forgot the 'not day 1'

Eevee - In M3 Eeve used emoticons and short posts as mafia and got called out, I figured Eevee should get others to post similarily.

ftl - I didn't have a lot to go on here, so because bridge costs 4 I gave him the 4am/4pm stipulation, also as he's been in every mafia or its spectator thread at the time I gave him the resurrection ability. Although this probably would have suited Axxle just fine but he hadn't subbed into M4 or M6 yet.

O - I really toyed with not making O a jester, but I think O would have hated me forever if in a game of jesters he wasn't so I made him a jester. I decided since O has also voiced a taste for bus driver to make him one of those. I decided to start toying with night abilities affecting your win con I didn't want them all to be timestamps, so I made him a bus driver (another of O's favourite roles) with the condition that one of the bussee's must vote for him. This power ended up being one of the weaker ones as there weren't alot of night actions after night 1. Galz was always on O's bus when he did send in actions.

Voltgloss - At this point I wanted a way to reverse winning the game, and I saw the inventor role and thought it was suit Volt quite nicely, so I made him a tree stumper. The person he gave the gadget to had to kill him was a weaker version of O's bus target but he can indirectly resurrect players and thus unlynch jesters, which nobody did .

Morgrim7 - I gave him innocent child because well its the Morgrim7 defence! and I didn't want him winning off people going hes town get him! so I added that he couldn't be lynched on the day he claimed innocent child. I added even day odd hour because it still seemed too strong

Cayvie - Similar to a few others I was running low on ideas. I added the 6am/6pm but allowed lynch on any day as that was what I had stipulated for Robz and for ftl and it seemed fair. I added the ability to move votes, seemed like a cool power for a bastard mod game, too weak though so I added that the votes couldn't be moved and that they wouldn't know she had done it.


Theorel - I gave theorel what is easily the single strongest power in the game. The ability to shut down day powers including winning off being lynched as a jester. To compensate he had the weakest win condition (be lynched on a day that is a multiple of 0) he made a comment on math flavour so I called him sigma 0 and gave him the ability to nullify any other player for a day.

Of course Ozle/eHal/Theorel all dying day1/night 1 had some pretty cool abilities to speed up the game but dying early made it tough.

When I created Tree stumps I knew that they would win at the end of the game if they were alive and I hum'd and hawd about whether they should know who was in there team, ultimately I decided that they should and they should be vanilla townies. I didn't decide this until people started getting themselves modkilled and I added 2 stumps back in.

Ultimately I was hoping someone would aim a stumper at Ozle so that I could hide my mod error. And I thought it'd be a lot more fast paced and fun then it turned out to be.

Honestly, as the only person here with an actual losecon (be lynched by N2 or lose) in a game full of Jesters, I had to come up with something wild enough to get people to go 'wtf' over.

It almost worked too! I was at L-1 like, six different times D2! But really, my Jester role wa terrible. I've learned my lesson. Don't have epic pregame reads on the mod. They do nasty things to you for it.

Honestly, as the only person here with an actual losecon (be lynched by N2 or lose) in a game full of Jesters, I had to come up with something wild enough to get people to go 'wtf' over.

It almost worked too! I was at L-1 like, six different times D2! But really, my Jester role wa terrible. I've learned my lesson. Don't have epic pregame reads on the mod. They do nasty things to you for it.

I thought I was being nice you were the only true jester that could win by being lynched at any time. Ozle for instance had to make sure he was hammered at the right time of day.
