When I try to post on the forum in Chrome, there's no input box for the message body. Any ideas what might be causing this?

I use Chrome and it seems fine. Does Quick Reply at the bottom of the page work?

It still isn't working... I have Reply on other PHPBB boards, but not this one. Really strange.

The Quick Reply box is currently not working for me, on Chrome. The box appears, but the preview and post buttons don't do anything.

WOW so it turns out the issue was that my anti-virus software (it's one of those free ones which is basically self-installed adware in exchange for protecting you from everything else) had a popup which had somehow turned invisible - or never turned visible - and about a 150x150 pixel area on the bottom right was being covered by it, including the post and preview buttons.

So dumb.

Well this isn't a phpBB board. Are you registered on any other SMF boards?

Doesn't Microsoft Security Essentials exist? Why would you need black hat antivirus software?

I couldn't say. I don't post on a lot of forums anymore. It's possible I have some extension or Tampermonkey script killing the reply box, but I couldn't begin to guess which one. If I find out I'll let you know.

I found the culprit... an old extension I had for browsing certain forums (like 4chan) was destroying the field for some reason. Maybe an update to SMF software, I dunno.

Black hat? Umm... I don't think that means what you think it means. Black Hat is illegal/underhanded hacking. This is just Avira's free anti-virus software. But being free means it gives you a little advert popup every few hours.

My free Avira stopped doing popups with their latest version upgrade. Might be worth checking out.

I use Avast! with no problems. The only ads seem to be ads for upgraded paid versions of itself every once in a while. Microsoft Security Essentials isn't as good as other free options, anymore. It was when it came out, but for some reason, lately, it's been doing poorly in tests.

I didn't realize MSE was falling behind and intended as a baseline. That's somewhat disappointing, since it's by far my favorite AV in terms of user-friendliness and no annoyingness.
