A Rebuild mirror, and I got squeaked out at the end. I'm thinking my most glaring mistake was my turn 5 purchase of a second Rebuild, instead of a Duchy. Do you guys agree, or did I blow it some other way?

Turn 5 Rebuild has to be correct. You lost the Duchy split on turn 9 when your opponent Rebuilds and then buys into the last two Duchies; that's just first player advantage and shuffle luck. I would probably have gotten Embargoes after two Silvers, to keep my deck smaller and play Rebuild more often.

Another thing, I don't know if silk roads are too good with Rebuild.  I haven't looked and it might be good, but they're probably worth about a duchy by the end and you can't rebuild them into provinces.

Silk Road probably won't be worth 3VP if you're going for Rebuild - Rebuild strategies do get through a lot of Victory cards, but the majority of them end up in the trash.

I agree. I didn't start grabbing them until I lost the Duchy split; I was desperate at that point.

My rule #1 in a rebuild game is to win the duchy split. Depending on the board this can mean buying duchies in favor of rebuilds. Sometimes it means buying estates to rebuild into duchies (esp. with shelters). Occasionally it means remodeling (or remaking, etc.) cards into duchies. Even in colony games the duchy is the choking point in a rebuild game.

Yeah agreeing with everyone else, I guess it was just loosing the duchy split, with help from the 2nd player disadvantage. I think you played it fairly well. I also like Warfreak's advice on the Embargoes, I wouldn't have thought of that!

My rebuild match against irata... Similar to your kingdom in the sense that it also had Kings court. You should have definitely gone Kings court/Rebuild. You shouldn't have.
