It doesn't matter now whether you click none or a duration that won't be cleaned up.
Don't forget: it is possible to play duration which get cleaned up, e.g. playing tactician without further cards on hand. As far i followed this discussion, iso should label such tactician as new and you could use scheme-effect on it.

I tried this out quick, and found out that a Tactician that is played with no cards to discard is (incorrectly?) labeled (old) by Isotropic.  This makes sense from a programming standpoint because it was not activated and will be cleaned up, and the same flag must be used to put the old/new labels on, but it is technically not correct because it is a new Tactician.  The way it is done does resolve the issue of knowing which Tactician you can successfully Scheme if you managed to play two of them in a turn, but one did not activate.

FYI my understanding is that Doug does not read this forum.

So, hey, Zongker, that's a funny name, isn't it. Zongker.

He does, however, read Isotropic Discussion, as far as I know, so you should post your Isotropic-related queries there.

Is that a subtle spoiler for one of the cards in the remaining expansions?

It sounds to me like a hint that "Doug Zongker" is not a real person. Maybe he's a bunch of people. Maybe he's Donald X's secret programmer alterego. Maybe he's a renegade strong AI who escaped from Google Labs, with a singular goal of bringing human productivity to an end.

(I know Doug Z is real. I'm referencing when people on BGG used to think that "Donald X. Vaccarino" was a pseudonym for a team of established game designers.)

It can not not be escaped, the domain is registered to someone living in the Googleheadquarters. So obviously it's still there, probably with the singular goal of bringing human productivity to an end.
