I don't know if this is the intended feature, but they're all the first card that does... something (and in some cases the only one still).

Alt-VP
"Set aside"
Dig
Pass
"Name a card"
Price reduction
Return to supply
misc.
Search discard pile
On-buy effect
"This is not in the Supply"
Negative money
"This is that card"

Embargo sort of had an on-buy effect.

In that sense, so do Goons, Talisman, and Hoard. Mint is "when you buy this", though.

Sure.  I only raised Embargo because it was published before those others, which were concurrent with Mint.

None of them contain a Q.

Fair enough. But each card on the list was not only the first card with the stated feature but, at the time, the only such card—there are no ties.

Which means, actually, that Library's key feature is draw-to-X, not "set aside"; Adventurer, after all, has "set aside" too.

Masquerade?

Clearly the answer is that none of them contain an X.
