I just discovered there is a time feature, where you can type in a time in your local time zone and it will be displayed to other users, converted to their time zone.

I'm in MDT/UTC-6, and typing this:

Code: [Select]
[time]1:30[/time]
Displays "Today at 01:30:00" on my computer, while you see: "August 29, 2013, 03:30:00 am". If I go into forum settings and change my time zone, the displayed time adjusts itself! This should make things like arranging tourney times with far-away opponents a bit easier (in fact, I only discovered this feature after figuring out a time with an opponent 8 time zones away)

I haven't figured out how to put in times for days other than today (unless you just grab input the seconds from time 0, instead of a date), but there probably is documentation of this somewhere.

edit: looks like the way to enter an exact time/date is this:

Code: [Select]
[time]DD Month YYYY, HH:MM:SS[/time]
For example, "31 August 2013, 00:00:00" produces: August 31, 2013, 02:00:00 am

Unfortunately it looks like trying to include a time zone inside of the "time" tag doesn't work right, so whenever you use this, make sure you're entering the time for whatever time zone you're set to in the forum.

:o Cool. Would be even cooler if there was something that visually indicates that a [time] tag is being used, but luckily whoever uses that tag can do that just by writing "[time]13:37[/time] (your time)" and whoever reads a post with a [time] tag can press the quote button to see whether or not there was a tag.

Oh my, this is actually pretty impressive:

"Now" gives August 29, 2013, 10:45:22 am, which is the current time.
"Now + 3 hours" gives August 29, 2013, 01:45:22 pm
"Today, 1 PM" gives August 29, 2013, 01:00:00 pm.
"Tomorrow" gives August 30, 2013, 12:00:00 am, always at midnight (for me)--does it always show midnight for others?
"Tomorrow 14:30" gives August 30, 2013, 02:30:00 pm
"Next Monday, midnight" gives September 02, 2013, 12:00:00 am
"Now + 2 weeks" gives:  September 12, 2013, 10:45:22 am

Alas, [time]Christmas[/time] doesn't work, but it would be amusing.

Heh, in particular it will also convert Unix timestamps:

1234567890 gives February 13, 2009, 06:31:30 pm

No, your "Tomorrow" gives me Today at 22:00, so I guess it's just your local midnight.

Looks like it converts to Unix timestamps when quoting, so the time doesn't change to my local when I quote you.  Neat.

Do you have the correct time zone in your forum settings? Your message is sent 10:20 am here, but your time tag says 01:20 pm.

Go to Profile (in the row up there that has Messages and Home), then from the left sidebar, click Look and Layout. It shows the current forum time (which I believe is EDT) and you can enter your time offset based on that. Check that out, see if that fixes it.
