First time doing KC-Bridge online

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130827/log.5136e2dee4b07cef820a1126.1377645107865.txt

Exactly what the title says.  I noticed that King's Court, Bridge, and Governor were in the kingdom, and I decided that's good enough for me.  And, after carefully building my deck, drawing it all, and pulling off the combo, my opponent says, "lucky"...

Nicely done. Too bad he had to tarnish it for you by claiming it was luck - you had overdrawn your deck.
This board has all the makings of a fast game - I'm glad you got all the pieces for your  combo before it was too late!
As a side note - unless I misread the log, you frequently made him discard an action card to his envoy when he had no more actions left. It may not have ultimately mattered, but it seems tossing a silver would be wiser.

This is the same guy who constantly whined on WW's latest videos about the same thing. See the Tantrum Video for an example (of course I'll never forget that video because I got a shout-out :P)

You make your own shuffle luck. Nice win. Anyone who says anything else, ever, for any reason, is not worth playing with (myself included).

You were lucky in a way, in that he seems to not know the power of KC/Bridge. I have no idea what strategy he chose. Envoy/Black Market does not strike me as one of the best openings, then he picks up both Governors and Rebuilds?

Nicely played by you, always fun to pull off a cool combo!

I would probably call that more skilled.

The only reason charlietuna isn't on top of the leaderboard is Goko's RNG.

I was surprised that he opened Envoy/Black Market when there were several power cards in the kingdom...  Especially when he's +5000, if I remember correctly.

He was the one player that I have ever put on my blacklist because he decided to slowplay me when I was beating him.  He even had the guts to eventually ask if I was getting mad enough at his slow play to quit.

But since I use firefox, my blacklist resets every time I log off. >:(  Thanks for reminding me of his name!  Now I'll just watch out for him.  :)

No one who opens Envoy/Black Market on a board like that has any right to complain about shuffle luck. Frankly, those are cards you need above-average luck to do decently with!

Is this really quicker than rebuild?

I don't know about in general but I'm sure it is here, because the benefit you get when your opponent plays Governor for draw will actually hurt you if you're going Rebuild.

No way!

Well, it can hurt you, but only in the very rare instance when you have a Rebuild in hand and the very last Estate on top of your deck (or vice versa). In general, though, Rebuild decks have poor economy and nevertheless want to hit 5 a lot; a 6th card makes this so, so much more likely to happen. I'd say Rebuild decks are the decks that benefit most from the Governor/Council Room/Soothsayer nerf.

Hm, maybe you're right.  But with Rebuild you want to buy Duchies after you have enough Rebuilds (two, IMO, sometimes three) so as the game goes on the density of Victory cards in your deck increases, it gets more likely that you end up drawing Victory cards you don't want to have in your hand.  And it's not like he was playing just one Soothsayer at a time, he was playing multiple Governors for draw, further increasing the likelihood of having Victory cards you want to Rebuild forced into your hand.

Governor->Minion is an option in this kingdom. I know Rebuild is fast, but between being Minion'd and cursed (by Young Witch), I have to think it'd be the less favoured approach.

Having a Victory card in hand with Rebuild is only bad if there aren't any other Victory cards in the deck (possible exception if there is still an Estate hanging around you want to get rid of before Rebuilding into Provinces).  With the density you're talking about, drawing another Duchy isn't a big deal because there are more Duchies waiting to be rebuilt.

Do I miss a synergy between these two cards?

Play a bunch of Governors for cards and then Minion them all away so the benefit for your opponent is negated.

If it's a hand full of Minions, KCs and Bridges, it's fine if you play them first. If it's a hand full of Coppers and Estates, it's still fine, because your next hands are going to be pretty good after that one.

I'm still not really convinced, but it sounds interesting. Has anyone a log of a game where he combines minion/governor?

Minion discard draws a 3 Governors, Gain golds.

Governor draws 2 Governors, Minion, Gold, upgrade the Gold to Province, Gain a Gold and Discard with Minion.

Something like that. Seems pretty hit or miss and requires a lot of $5 card buys.

There's no doubt that governor and minion have some potential to synergize, but i wonder whether it is huge enough to mix them up. I guess in mosts games it will be stronger to go either for minions or governors, not for both; but I am very willing to learn more about the exceptions, this is why I hope that someone can post a few log-examples.
