Actually, one thing that might help automatch is to have a setting where it automatically will start with you looking for a game.

I don't think this is that good idea. Sometimes you want to play with friend or rematch and you would be automatched before you could say you don't want it.

Agreed... I think making it optional and easy to enable/disable would be essential.

I'm not sure if having the option to auto-automatch would be a bad idea. You could disable the auto-automatching from the extension settings menu, so if you want to play against a friend or something, you can. And for people who don't have friends playing on Goko, such as myself, it would be convenient (though wouldn't really help with the problem as I always enable the automatching manually anyway).

And I'm pretty sure that there are other, more important features that need (or "need") implementing than this.

And you have never asked for rematch in Outpost?

We need auto-auto-automatch, which reads your mind to determine whether you want to continue using auto-automatch.

I don't know if it would be possible, but...

Could automatch also search through the rooms for open games and if one of them meets your criteria (within 2000 points, X sets, etc.), then it join you to that game?  Or would that be impossible due to the multitude of rooms...

Assuming the minimum and maximum sets settings in the automatch aren't just there to ornament the UI, there actually is.

I'm actually puzzled as to why more people aren't using automatch. Can anyone who isn't using it help me understand why not and/or what would make the difference for them?

Haven't played much. I would use it if I played more.

Also let me briefly plug the ragingduckd's automatch feature in the extension, which doesn't yet have critical mass but is already useful and will be fantastic once more people use it.

Stupid need for critical mass...

I'm actually puzzled as to why more people aren't using automatch. Can anyone who isn't using it help me understand why not and/or what would make the difference for them?

Two features I'm considering adding to address the critical mass problem:
1. Search for and auto-join compatible games in other lobbies when you submit an automatch request
2. (Optionally) send out an automatch request whenever you create a "5000+"-type table
Theoretically, I'd like to use this.  The primary problem, is that the internet just plain confuses me.  I don't know what extensions are, how to work/install them, how to turn them on/off, or why/when I'd even want to do that.

Other problems for me are that I'm not sure what auto-match options are for somebody who plays as infrequently as me (my pro-rating has been 0 for a real long time, and it's unlikely to ever get up to this constantly talked-about 5000+ level that everybody seems to want to play in)

If you're using chrome or firefox I would highly recommend getting the extension; It's made using goko so much more pleasant. Basically it changes the way the goko website interacts with you so that you've got a nice log on the side instead of their terribly formatted one in a pop-up window that blocks the board as well as some other options. Tell us what browser you're using and I'm sure we can walk you through installing it.

If you play bots you can fairly easily get your rating up to the level where people will play you. Just remember that BM-X or workshop-gardens is almost always the best strategy in base.

And... Now back to my question about buying the sets. I think I'm leaning towards buying, but I'm still concerned about giving goko my credit card information given their track record (passwords in plaintext leaps to mind). Does someone know whether "powered by ultimate pay" means that goko is never responsible for storing, transmitting, or reading my credit card info?

Yes, Goko doesn't do payment processing, they use a 3rd party service.

Sorry if the advice sounded condescending. I only gave it because when I was trying to get my rating up by playing bots, I bungled a few games because I really wanted an engine to win, but it just wasn't better then BM-X. As for getting your rating up with bots, from personal experience it isn't that hard (though it takes a little bit and it's boring) and then once you're in the 4k range you can find people with cards who will play with you (though you have to hunt around).

You can have the automatch doing it's thing for you while you try to get a game in some other way as well, so it's not a hinder at least. As for the rating, I at least use automatch with Rating +/− more than my own rating, so I'll play anyone (who has any cards).

Ok now I've decided to buy in and I can't...
I go to the store, and go to buy gokoins, and select 450 for $45. I click the $45 and then the "Buy Now." The ultimate pay window pops up, I enter my credit card info. I hit continue.... And then all of my credit card info is cleared from the screen and nothing happens.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I think something similar may have happened to me...did refreshing or reopening the page show the purchased gokoins?

Nope. I don't think they were ever purchased as I never got to any kind of confirm screen or anything. The same thing happened about a week ago and nothing has showed up on my credit card, so I'm pretty sure the purchase isn't going through at all.

On a side-note I think there's a summer sale until tomorrow or so where you get a free expansion if you make a purchase of 20$ or more.

Yeah. That's why I'm trying to do it now. I posted on getsatisfaction. Hopefully someone over there will figure it out.

in any case related to money transaction you should contact them directly at help@goko.com. This is usually the faster way to get help. If you mention the summersale, i'm sure they'll grant you the bonusses, even if you are late to the party.

Thanks. I'll send an email as well. I asked them about a week ago about merging accounts and they never responded, so I thought get satisfaction might be faster.
