Inn + Gain

Just played a game on isotropic where I used expand twice to gain two wharves.  Then I bought an Inn, but only the Inn was shuffled into the deck (not the wharves I gained).   I don't have the rules in front of me, but don't gained cards go into the discard pile?  So, if you had extra action with draw, you could immediately draw them (eg all of the ironworks/great hall shennanigans)?  I don't have the log (stupidly signed off without copying it).

Any thoughts?

My thoughts are that I need to see the log, and that even the log won't necessarily be enough to make sure you didn't accidentally do something wrong with the interface. One possible mistake you might be making in your reasoning: did you cause a reshuffle between gaining the Wharves and buying the Inn?

I would recommend trying this in a solo game and seeing if you can reproduce the issue.

I was not able to reproduce your issue:

— Your turn 14 —
You play a Laboratory.
... You draw an Inn and a Copper and get +1 action.
You play an Inn.
... (You reshuffle.)
... You draw an Expand and a Copper and get +2 actions.
... You discard an Inn and a Copper.
You play an Expand.
... You trash an Estate.
... You gain a Minion.
You play 2 Silvers and a Copper.
You buy an Inn.
... You shuffle 2 Inns and a Minion into your draw pile.

Yes, if not said otherwise they go to discard.

So, if you had extra action with draw, you could immediately draw them ...
No! Therefore they have to go on top of deck.

I could be misunderstanding what Socrates meant, but I figured he was referring to the situation where you have your whole deck in hand or in play -- that is, no cards in either deck or discard.  In that case, it is correct that if you gain a card, then do something that causes you to draw cards, you will draw the card you just gained.

Case in point:  Ironworks a Great Hall.  Great Hall goes into the discard pile.  Then the +Card that Ironworks gives you for gaining that Great Hall will cause the Great Hall to be drawn into your hand.

You are on the right track, but more specifically Inn allows you the following:

Quote
When you gain this, look through your discard pile (including this), reveal any number of Action cards from it, and shuffle them into your deck.

So you don't even have to fulfill all the conditions you mentioned.
What I did wrong when playing first with the new cards was the following: Make sure that you buy the wharf first and only then the Inn. But that's not the point from the op.

Now that you mention it, I'm not sure that I didn't trigger a reshuffle  after expanding into the wharves (thus removing them from the discard pile).  I thought they were still there, but I could be wrong.

Can I find the log after the fact?  If so, how do I do this?

councilroom.com scrapes the logs from isotropic daily, so you'll probably be able to find the logs there once councilroom updates for the day.

Looks like this game.

Code: [Select]
   Socrates plays a Native Village.
   ... getting +2 actions.
   ... (Socrates reshuffles.)
... drawing a card and placing it on the Native Village mat.
Socrates plays 2 Silvers and 2 Coppers.
   Socrates buys an Inn.
... shuffling 1 card into the draw pile.

Seems fine to me.
