Terra Mystica V-infinity
« on: July 26, 2013, 12:22:54 pm »

It has been a while, but now that I have holidays, I think it's time for the next games of Terra Mystica.
Someone from BGG has written an online tool to play the game that we'll be using: http://terra.snellman.net/
Instructiona re linked there under "Help".
I will therefore need an email address of every player I believe.
So whos's in?

Edit: By the way, note that there has been a rule change for the Cultists: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1009456/rules-update-for-cultists

I'll check out the tool from my mobile later today. If it's usable, I'm /in.

Noone? Is the new platform the problem or is there simply no interest in this game any more?

I'm tempted to join but seeing as I've got the game now I'm not as interested in playing online as I was before. Definitely in favour of the new platform, though. I'll play if there's enough for a game and you want me to fill a space.

I'm less excited about it on a different platform.

Of course, I was initially unexcited about playing with google docs...so, maybe I wouldn't be as opposed in practice.

I'm willing to try it once.

I've played on that site before, it works well, much better than playing by spreadsheet. I'm in.

But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

The new platform looks slick, less scrolling and tab-changing than in the Google spreadsheet. Mind you, the spreadsheet implementation was admirably good.

My feeling is that the design of recent games (little downtime, lots of short turns) makes them more palatable at the board, but less so online. The old play-by-mail installations had rather massive, very often concurrent, turns.

I don't know about everyone else, but the main reason I did not show up here pounding down the door to play was the disappointment from recent flakings.

Consider me in for this, though.

Sorry for not replying for a while.

The big advantage of the new platform should be that it processes moves automatically, so I can't make mistakes doing so and it also happens immediately.

So pops, Tables and theorel are definitely in, Galzria if it works on mobile devices (I think it does, but Galz hasn't replied since),  TINAS is in if we need someone to fill a spot, and ipofanes has just casually posted.

I have only received an email address from Tables so far. pops and theorel, please PM me email-addresses of yours so I can set up the game. If Galz,TINAS or ipofanes want to join as well, you have time until I received those addresses (though I might just start another game as well).

Well, we're 6 at the moment. I'm willing to play in 2 games, anyone else?
Otherwise I'll start one with 4 and one with 3. Preferences?

I'd prefer 4, not sure I want to be in two games right now.

If you want I'll drop out and you can play with 5. If not I don't mind, but I only want to play in one game for now until I've got the hang of the UI at least.

I set up two games with 4 players each now.
Game 1 (Galzria, theorel, pops, Watno): http://terra.snellman.net/game/fds01
Game 2 (TINAS, Tables, Watno, ipofanes): http://terra.snellman.net/game/fds02

If I'm not mistaken, there's two ways to do faction selection.
A) Post your selection here.
B) If you have an account on that site with the email address you gave me, the game should appear in your active games list, and you can select a faction there.

Afterwards, an account won't be necessary anymore, but it will make stuff a lot easier probably, so I'd advise you to make accounts.

Everything appears to load well for me, the biggest issue is that all the pertinent information is abbreviated... so I need to thoroughly remind myself of what everything is.

A landscape chart wouldn't go amiss either so I can see what terraforms to what easily.

I'll select my faction in a bit. Need to pull up the rules again and read each one over.

Also,  learning the appropriate input commands will take some time.

I don't think it's really necessary, since the page allows you to send email notifications when you do a move after faction selection, but if people prefer a thread, i can make one.

A landscape chart appears on your faction when you select one. For now use http://www.terra-mystica-spiel.de/en/voelker.php
