I saw someone made a post with all of the 'official' terminology (so like programming) and it made me think.

There are certain terms I've found myself using/thinking while playing. I think that's common to any endeavor where people are trying to learn something in solitude without a lot of guidance.

What are some of the terms you've developed?

Here are a few of mine:

"Taking a breather." Whenever it's greening time and we're acquiring provinces/colonies, if the other player skips a turn without gaining a province, I think of him as 'taking a breather.' This is often a chance to either catch up or get ahead.

"Chocking" When a deck loses its purchasing power because of too much green or too many terminal cards.

A "flat" kingdom. No extra actions.

"Lost in the shuffle." When a player loses not because of bad choices but because of how his hands were drawn.

Is that supposed to be "choking"? If so, it should probably be standard terminology (and on the official list) if it isn't already.

Around my circle of IRL players, we'd always refer to our coin resource as "buying power", as in "With a buying power of 5, I get a laboratory".

My family does the exact same thing.

A lot of times my family will say gold instead of coins, and that just gets confusing. I just say "I have 17 and 2 buys to spend, I'll get 2 scouts"

Also my little brother calls gokoins "owls"

Same for me, at least at first.  I purposely work hard against people's tendency to do this when I teach Dominion now... people think I'm being a little anal, but I tell them it really helps sort things out.  Coin vs. Treasure vs. Gold -- all terms that people want to use interchangeably, but have very distinct meanings in this game. =)

When saying how much I have to spend, I only say the number. If I have to refer to it in some way (i.e. choice for Minion or Pawn) then I use money and coins interchangeably.

Piledrive = to buy many cards from a pile quickly.

Sneak ending = to end the game in a 3-pile when the opponent didn't seem to see it coming.

(Small off-topic point: It is just, so incredibly important to watch for 3 piles. The ability to manipulate when the game is going to end is so useful, that I think it's the most important thing you can learn to get better at Dominion. If you know how to end or prolong a game, you know how to end with an advantage or prolong a game for a comeback.)

Steal the win = to end the game quickly in a win, where if the game had gone on for more turns I would have almost certainly lost. Usually happens from 3-piles.

My friends know the Base and Intrigue pretty well, but don't always remember all the newest cards. So if I play Goons, Followers etc. I just tell them to commit Militia. Urchin is "half-militia"  . Scrying Pool is spy and if I play Noble Brigand I tell them to reveal cards just like against Thief. Of course effect is not same.

I say "Silberling" instead of Silber all the time.
Sometimes even "Kupferling" although that's not really a thing.

I typically use it to refer to the available money in a player's full deck, assuming everything provides its max money, e.g. Pawn is worth $1, Steward $2, and Throne Room the highest cash output of any of the opponent's Action cards.

e.g. "I didn't expect you to get 2 Provinces this turn with $17 total buying power in 23 cards"

Coins are "bucks". "I play a torturer" is "TORTURE TORTURE TORTURE".

I call the coin you accumulate from non-treasure cards in a term 'paper money.'

Back on isotropic, whenever I played with my friend, and an attack was played, some sort of comment had to be made.

Often it was just as simple as "MARRRRRRRGRAAAAAAAVE!". My favourite was for Ambassador "Hey, have you heard of "Estate"?  Have a free sample".

The Bank-Spank: When a player plays a bank effectively, playing it after many treasures, or playing many copies one after the other, gaining immense amounts of coin.

When playing with my father, we always call "Gewölbe" (Vault) "Gewölle" (hairball)

Its not strictly a term, but when we play Masquerade we usually sing a short part of this.
Similar, you can guess the sound of Sea Hag, can you?

Back in Iso days, when I played a torturer and it said 'waiting while X is tortured,' I always did a 'YeEEEEEAARRRGGGGGHHHH'
