I just played two games with doctor.
In the two games, I opened doctor with $4, trashing the card of the top of my deck, and my opponent didn't open doctor, but bought it quickly afte with $7, trashing four cards. I lost the two games.

Do you think my opponent's play on doctor is better ? I'm a bit skeptical because the benefit of my opening is the reshuffle turn 2.

You get to reshuffle turn 2 but what are you shuffling in? A silver? Your opponent probably gets to reshuffle his 7 coins tuns 3,4,5, and 6 by trashing so much early

if I reshuffle turn 2, I can play another doctor turn 3 or 4 for quick trashing.

If your reshuffle lets you get an extra play out of Doctor, then if you're extremely lucky you've trashed an extra three cards. Which is as many cards as your opponent trashed more than you to begin with. I don't see any way in which that reshuffle puts you in a better position.

I bought it late in the game for 14$ once.
It was a soothsayer cursing game with no other trashing. So it was pretty effective

Commentary is in German, it was a pretty good move though. He could trash 5 bad cards and a Doctor and a Silver.
