For the love of Pete, I cannot beat Gentleman Gandolf (Prosperity: Act 1, Level 19).  So far, the other undefeatables I've eventually been able to conquer, but I'm getting destroyed here every time.  I don't want to use more than 2 zaps--somebody please give me a strategy that works--I'm going crazy here.

Can you post the kingdom and the starting decks?

It's Prosperity.  The supply cards are Moat, Bishop, Bureaucrat, Militia, Spy, Council Room, Vault, Witch, Goons, Grand Market.  He has 3 silvers and mine are all coppers.  He also has 2 Duchy's and an Estate, while I have 3 curses.  Deck is obviously stacked in his favor but there's gotta be a way to beat him.

Unfortunately this is designed to be beatable only by using multiple zaps. I think I read somewhere that Donald couldn't even beat this level without zaps.

Here's a win without zaps:

Unfortunately, I really didn't deserve to win and I doubt you'll benefit by following my rather random strategy. I was mostly just mashing buttons really.

The key to the win was Gandolf's lust for gold. He had 9 Grand Markets by turn 11, but that wasn't enough for him, oh no. He spent turns 12-15 buying 2+ Golds each turn (and no Provinces), which gave me enough time to catch up.

When you get to hinterlands you can use 9 zaps and your decks are still not even. It's just silly. As soon as you start using that many zaps it becomes rather arbitrary whether you use more or less zaps. Any moral compunction to fight on a fair footing completely disappears.

There is only one real strategy. Buy zaps, use zaps, win.

After MANY attempts at this bastard, I finally did devise a strategy to beat him (also may have been a fluke... I have a theory that after so man repeated tries, the program is set to slip). I did this after researching some logs and only found three that have beat him out of my results.

Here is the Game log of my win against him.... FINALLY.... I hope this helps you all!

Someone has way too much faith in these programmers.

Man, people are gonna be steamed when/if the new version comes out and the Adventures completely change.

I thought they had changed adventures, so both people started with 7 copper & 3 estate, so this should be easier now.

Yup. That is the case. Beating the adventures should be relatively easy, but still a grind.

Hang on. We can't have isotropic but they can use Gandolf?

Ok, not a HUGE gain, but was definitely still a tough one for me and was happy to beat without any zaps. :o)

Gandolf: similar to, but legally distinct from Gandalf®.

So we should be able to play Domanion on isotropic, a similar but distinctly more manly version of a popular card game.

This might also still work, and be much less of a grind.
