Combo: Treasure Map/Nomad Camp

Treasure Map is a fun card to activate: you get four Golds on top of your deck for your next turn! Except... this isn't necessarily as good as it may seem; you get $12 with one buy. This is great in a Colony game, but in a Province game, it's overkill somewhat. Also, the fifth card in your next hand may be rendered useless. This is most annoyingly true if it's King's Court, but other normally-useful cards such as Smithy can be rendered impotent in such a hand.

This is where Nomad Camp comes in. A top-decked Woodcutter isn't normally something to get excited about, but if you buy it on the turn you've activated your Treasure Maps, it's a Woodcutter top-decked with four Golds, which is a very different kettle of fish - $14 with two buys gives you a wonderful next hand, which can at the very least be used to buy Province + Gold.

Centuries later, archaeologists discover the remains of your ancient civilization.

Evidence of thriving towns, Pottery, roads, and a centralized government amaze the startled scientists.

Finally, they come upon a stone tablet, which contains but one mysterious phrase!

'ISOTROPIC WILL RETURN!'

That's a cute trick, but it seems pretty rare that a Treasure Map deck is going to be able to afford $4 in 3 cards before playing the maps.

What do you mean, ackack? The point is to buy the Nomad Camp in the turn with the 4 Gold, not before. This has a success rate of 100% (ignoring opponent's attacks) to be possible in the turn after activating the treasure maps, not the same turn.

No, that's definitely not the point. The point is to buy the Nomad camp before the turn with 4 golds, so that you have it once you get 4 golds, so that 4 golds don't go to naught but rather you can actually use all their money.
That being said, I don't think this is a real great combo. Now, throw in a mandarin...

Oh, yeah, right. And now that you mention Mandarin, that's exactly the card I had in mind. Since it doesn't provide the extra buy, it's not that good.

That happens when you don't know all the new cards well enough and mix them up, sorry.
