Greetings & Salutations

I just found this section so I figured I'd introduce myself.

I am in my thirties, married with three kids. I consider myself a gammer with a decent collection (14 card games, 16 board games, 7 miniature games, and 9 different RPGs).

I work in the civil engineering field, though I am not an engineer.

I am relatively new to dominion, only having got the game for Christmas. Since then I have purchased all the sets except alchemy (Gulids is on order). This is a great game and a favorite for my wife and I.

Why not Alchemy?  :(

Anyway, welcome, I didn't notice it for a while too.

I guess alchemy just has a bad rep for being less applicable in all random games, which I absolutely don't agree with.  Just as mountebank is almost a must buy in any game it's in, One should consider Potions a must buy if the single Alchemy card is vital to winning.  This is most often Familiar, but often Scrying Pool, Apothecary, University, Vineyard and Alchemist can fit this as well.  One shouldn't judge potions based on the number of Potion cards in the kingdom.  Potions should be evaluated in regards to how useful it is to obtain the cards available (even it's a single card) with potion in their cost.

Alright, my rant on Alchemy is done, hopefully people will see this and reevaluate their less than stellar opinions of Alchemy.

Hello.  Name's Bruce.  It's all right.  I understand.  Why trust a shark, right?

Is quite curious - Who is the mystical "Celestial Chameleon"?

I started with Intrigue (for Christmas) and a month later got Prosparity. After playing the additional set I knew I was hooked. I got a bonus from work so I was able to get all the sets or all but one and sleeves. Since I once was a competitive ccg player I decided on the sleeves, and since Alchemy had the lowest reviews of the sets I skipped it.

I have enjoyed playing with the cards on goko, so I most likely will get it at some point.

Alchemy is probably my third favorite expansion.

Alchemy was the second expansion we bought. And we loved it. The first expansion we got was Prosperity so we were used to new kinds of treasures. The potion thing looked cool and who doesn't love putting 10 labs on the top of your deck at the end of the turn? More seriously though. What I don't like about Alchemy is how your potion might miss the reshuffle or you end up with $1p and it impacts the game so much. However that's true for most opening buys, whether it's a potion or not. It's just that it's more apparent with the potion.
