Hi.

is it even possible to get enough shields for one promo by just playing through the 3 base adventures?

Not that i dont have the other sets but want to know that for a friend.
does anyone know this?

It's not. Base adventure gives coins for avout half an adventure iirc

the coins arent the problem as  you can get them from playing bots.

Do it. It's well worth it. I held off for some time playing just base and then one day just took the plunge and bought all sets. Haven't regretted it for one second. It's basically the price of ONE cardboard game and I'll almost guarantee you that you'll spend far more time on online Dominion than on any cardboard game you might own.

The thing is, I don't currently play just base except for the adventures. I mostly join other players' games with more cards, and by getting the cards myself and then starting to host, I would quite likely get a lower quality of game because in general the players with cards are better than those without.

Really it's just for the part of me which wants to get all the cards anyways.

I've got base + hinterlands and can't finish hinterlands adventures because they need a few extra cards as well. So there's another reason not to get hinterlands as your first expansion.
