It fails to get a good grip on him, scratching him to no effect as it flies off.

OOC: If we're out of combat I'd also like to inspect the dead bird monster thingy. I'm not an expert on these things, I'll roll if I need to, but I'm mostly looking for a description.

Jimmy says, "I'm okay, but it looks like some of us took a bit of a tumble."

Jimmy lights up the lantern, and you're able to survey the scene.  Grant's gut is covered in blood, Amanda is a bit beaten up by her fall, and the remains of one of the creatures lies in the midst of the group.

The creature that attacked you is around 6 feet long from head to toe, one fleshy wing extends out to it's right, while the other is curled up at its side.  The middle of the creature is a bloody mess.  It's head has large pointed ears, and a big snout full of large teeth, with small eyes which glint red in the light of the lantern.

Amanda goes over to examine Grant and make sure he's all right.

If he seems not to be, I'm going to attempt to heal him. Here in advance is the healing roll:

[OOC]
Healing rolls are modified by both your own wounds and your targets' wounds, you might want to get yourself healed first at least so you're only facing Grant's wound penalties.
For reference, you're aced d4 there would be a 0.

Grant looked down at the blood pooling around beneath him.He lowered his hand down to dip his fingers in it. Hot. He lie there in shock, incredulous in disbelief that it could be his own life force spilling out.

The pain... Well if he were to describe it, Grant would almost say that it felt like a cool breeze on a summer's day. Goosebumps ran up his arm as a light tingle coursed through his body.Funny. It certainly didn't hurt - at least not like one would expect. Still, Grant knew the injury was far behind his ability to heal. He called out to his companions for help, but he couldn't be sure he was heard.

Damning the creature that did this to him Grant tried to sit himself up, but the world began to spin around him as he collapsed backwards once more. Gasping for breath Grant laid his head on the ground and stared straight up into the night sky. A lamp lit up to his right, but he couldn't be sure who the holder was. Right now all he could hope was that someone he was traveling with knew how to bandage him up.

Faust has also been incredibly stubborn this game. In other news, it's hot in the summer, and water falls from the sky when it rains.

Genji puts a hand out to Ken.  He cocks his head as he tries to find out what is happening around him, and what the attack meant for him and the group.

[OOC]@ashersky: you notice basically what's happened?  I mean you can hear Grant's more labored breathing and falling down, the creatures have left, as people talk you get an idea of what's going on.

@spiritbears: if it wasn't clear: Grant and Amanda are in the worst shape.  Each can be healed with a Tribal Medicine roll (using your Healing power), you suffer a -3 on the roll when healing Grant and a -1 when healing Amanda.  Your limiter here is just your power points, it takes negligible time to use the power.

Oh, and apparently I missed the most recent posts by Jack Rudd... :-[
So, Amanda spends 10 minutes bandaging cleaning and bandaging her own wounds.  She's feeling a bit better afterwards.  (Heal 1 wound, so you're at -1)

[OOC] We would certainly benefit from spiritbears healing ability here, but he hasn't been on in awhile. It's been 9 or 10 days since he posted. Thoughts?[/OOC]

[OOC]Okay, I think we need some healing, especially if you guys will be down to 4 players by the time you reach the next combat...
So, I'm going to go ahead with it, and some IC stuff.[/OOC]

Bob comes over to Grant, and grabs some sand of the ground.  He pours the sand from one hand to another as he chants over you in a strange tongue.  Finally after the sand has poured, he tosses it over you, and shakes a stick with some feathers and beads tied to it over your wounds, finally tapping your abdomen.

I'm going to spend a fate chip on that to reroll, because it would result in a fatigue.

Wait, a blue chip should overcome the 1 and add to the other one.  I should have just spent a blue chip.  Anything negates the fatigue, if he can get more than 1 then it's a success at least.

[OOC]Okay, Grant feels a little better at least.  He can cast Healing one more time, either trying to heal some more wounds on Grant, or healing Amanda the rest of the way.  I'll let you guys decide.[/OOC]

Sky Hawk looks at the creature, then at the gun in Jimmy's hands.  He turns to look over his shoulder towards the horizon, then back to the gun, and then over at Amanda's gun.  "They will have heard.  They will know someone's out here, we might not be able to sneak up as simply."  He reaches down in the dirt and draws a wavy line, and picks up some nearby rocks and places them around the line.
"They ambushed us as we camped in the ravine.  I rode off in this direction [towards the right side of the drawing], and was fired at from here and here.  [gesturing to the rocks he placed]  There were one or two ravenites on the opposite ridge, and some that may not have fired on me.  My people are in the ravine, they will have heard the gunshots as well...they'll be able to help as soon as they know we are there.

Genji focuses on the smell of blood after what feels like an eternity of silent thought.  Ken licks his hand, then curls around his feet in a protective manner.  Genji wonders how everyone else his doing after the bird attack...
