[OOC]Oh, I had missed that you got shaken. 
So, you don't get first strike unless you spend a fate chip to break the shaken.  You get the spirit roll at the start of your next turn.

@ashersky: fighting is correct, but Ken doesn't get a wild die (not that it mattered here).

As grant stands up dusting himself from the fall, the creature swoops down upon him, mouth gaping wide.  He throws his hands up to defend his head, but the creature changes direction at the last second and bites into his gut, tearing cloth and flesh with its sharp teeth.

[OOC]So, that's 21 damage which is 16 over toughness for 4 wounds. 

@Jack Rudd: you took 18 damage which is 13 over toughness for 3 wounds.

You may want to soak these wounds...
