The outlaws head out into the darkness, and shortly you hear the galloping of hooves.  The dust cloud settles to the ground and you see Sam Bass covered with dust, a gouge in his throat.

Scene 2: Mysterious Visitors
Now that the outlaws have run off, you have a chance to look at the stage.  The front wheels aren't in great shape, and the horses have run off.  For anyone with the repair skill, you can tell that it's fixable, but it will likely take most of the night.  Jeb starts pulling out some tools from the back of the stage, while Danny gets himself set in a good position to defend his brother.  Jeb turns to the posse, "Well, I got a long night's work ahead if we're gonna make it to Deadwood in any sort of time.  If'n y'all wouldn't mind trackin' down the horses we could be gettin' off by morning like as not.  I'd recommend keepin' in pairs at the least, it ain't exactly safe out here at night."

Looking out from the stage, the plains are covered in darkness.  The sky looks like a black and purple river filled with twinkling diamonds.  There are sparks and flashes from within distant clouds, and faint throbs of thunder echo across the distance.

Grant's eyes glazed over as he fell to the ground. There were voices around him, but he couldn't distinguish what they were saying - or in fact if they were even saying anything at all. The body of his assailant had smoked into dust when he threw himself at it, and the sound of laughter rang throughout the darkness in his mind.

[OOC]Interesting. If one does not close their color tags before rolling, one's roll is in color. Also, Theorel, can we get major game links in the first post? Like... links to character sheets // current game state/situation/map?[/OOC]

When Grant finally began to come around, the visions of his nightmare still haunted the darkness and shadows around the carriage. Every movement and sound set him on edge, and he was drenched in a cold sweat. It took him a few minutes to take stock of the situation around him. Bodies on the ground. Who's? Nobody he knew. Grant looked to the carriage and saw his companions setting about fixing the repairs. It seems none of them were seriously injured.

Grant slowly picked himself up off the ground. He heard Bob mention something about chasing down horses and took another look. Sure enough, they were gone. Grant made his way over to were Jeb was working on the carriage. "If it's a helping hand you need, I'll do what I can. I don't have any experience with fixing things, but I'm still an extra pair of hands. Tell me what you need, and I'll do it."

[OOC]With my Spirit Roll failing, Grant is still not cleared of his visions. He's back in control of his actions, but fighting (of any kind/weapon) will come with a -1 penalty.[/OOC]

[OOC] Added some links to the first page.  Let me know if there's anything missing you would want.
Also note that Jimmy is in fact wounded.  Though I'll leave it to Jorbles how that's portrayed.[/b]

Appreciate the offer.  But, we're not goin' far without horses.  Another set of eyes lookin' for them will be more useful than somebody that don't know what they're doin' here.  Maybe, by the time you find 'em we'll have an idea of what an extra set of hands could do here.

[OOC]The only person with Riding/Tracking is Jorbles - Can those of us without still do so, and if so, what do we roll? 1d4 + Wild?[/OOC]

"Well alright then. I'll go hunt down them horses. I've got myself a Lantern in my pack, so I won't need to take one from the Wagon." Grant climbs onto the carriage and grabs his pack from the rack, lifting it to the ground. "My lantern is full right now, but I don't have any spare fuel with me. So hopefully we can get these horses back quickly. Genji, you seem to have a way with animals. Think you can help?"

[OOC]Making an unskilled attempt would be at d4-2.  (as usual, roll a wild die and the -2 applies to both the skill and the wild die).

Of course, If you have alternative (i.e. Genji's animal abilities) ideas to get them that's fine as well.  Tracking/Riding are just the straightforward means to track down the animals.  Note: Cliff(Lekkit) also has riding.  Otherwise, just going along to help keep any dangerous critters away is also reasonable.

@spiritbears: If you want to shapeshift, you roll Tribal Medicine.
-A flying animal would have better distance vision, but in the dark it would still be tough to spot a few horses (I'd probably give you a Notice roll at some penalty)...you could turn into a Hawk.
EDIT: tracking animals such as dogs require you to be Seasoned.

Bear with me brother and sisters I'm going to try to have s little looksee and hopefully point us in the right direction of the horses. It should make the gathering s lot easier for the trackers.

Bob retreated to a quiet spot out of view and sound of the roughed up party.  Taking his medicine bag out he began to see himself as a small grey owl. Offering up a bit if sage and tobacco to his ancestors he Braun to feel the wind on his wings.....

You notice that Jimmy's hand appears to have a burn on it. It looks pretty nasty. Jimmy tries to wrap a bit of cloth around it.

"This is a pretty nasty burn I got here. Guess my gun backfired when I was firing or something." Jimmy shrugs.

OOC: Jimmy never actually fired his gun, but you guys might or might not have noticed it. The gunfight was pretty quick.

Jimmy eyes Sam's body greedily.

"Before heading out you guys first things first. Let's make sure we get that reward for taking down Sam. If we make sure to load up his body for the bounty I'll come and try and track down some of these horses with some of y'all."

As the owl, formerly Bob sweeps across the sky he is unable to spot anything.

[OOC]@spiritbears: You can stay out longer and make another Notice check or fly back.  I'll say each check signifies ~1 minute of looking, which means you're maintaining the Shape Change for 1 power point per check.[/OOC]

Jimmy hauls Sam's body over to the wagon and wraps it up in a piece of burlap. He's a little awkward at this with his wounded hand, but he badgers Jeb into helping him with it.

[OOC]Using the power will cost you the power points.  Then you make a Tribal Medicine roll, applying any wound modifiers as penalties to the roll (so -1 for Jimmy).  On a success he's healed, on a failure the power points are wasted.  The wound must be healed in the first hour after being taken, or else it will have to heal naturally (vigor roll every 7 days, success=heal 1 wound level).  Each casting takes 6 seconds, so time is only a concern regarding the power points recharging.

If you use the Healing skill, you can make an attempt to heal.  This is just as above (apply the wound modifiers as penalty).  It takes 10 minutes.  A result of 1 or less results in an additional wound.  Note: it requires supplies, being without causes a -2 penalty.

In both cases, a raise on the healing check cures an additional wound.

Grant looked up from his pack and over to Cliff. "It's... nothing. That dust storm must've bothered me more than I thought it would. I'll be fine." Pulling his lantern out, Grant put the rest of his gear back on top of the carriage. "Jeb, you were out here when the horses took off. Did you get a look at which direction they bolted?" Turning his back before Jeb could answer, Grant walked back out towards where he had collapsed at. His Tomahawk and Knife were still lying on the ground. Grant picked them up and looked at them for any signs of damage. Seems they weren't all that useful during the fight, and everything looked alright. Grant tucked the Tomahawk back into it's holster on his belt and slipped the knife back down his boot sheath. Walking back to the carriage, he looked to Jeb for a reply. "I'm ready as soon as you are Cliff. Let's just hope Jeb here has some bearings for us before we set out."

Ken approached Genji from the back of the coach, pressing against his right leg.  Genji patted him on the head while turning in the direction of Jenny, still huddled beside him in the ditch.

"Do not be afraid of him.  He really is quite friendly," Genji said in a soft voice.  While he spoke, Ken had started cleaning the blood from the fur around his mouth and on his chest with quick flicks of his tongue.
