GOKODOM I: Round 2 Results and Discussion
« on: April 22, 2013, 08:14:54 am »
+3

Round 2 of GokoDom I is here.

How to Play Your Match

1. Go to the spreadsheet and find your name.  Your opponent for this round is right next to your name.  PM that person and work out an agreeable time to play, and choose a room to meet in--I suggest something unlikely to be crowded. Match Results are due no later than Monday 29 April 2013 at 1200 GMT -- 0800 EDT -- 0500 PDT.

2. The player with the most sets will host each game using random cards in Unrated mode.  That player should also take responsibility for saving game logs.

3. The first player for the first game will be decided randomly by Goko.

4. The player who lost the previous game will be the first player for the next game.  This may require you to resign/restart a game.  In Unrated mode, it doesn't matter who resigns.

5. If a game was tied, the player who was the second player in the tie game will be the first player in the next game.

6. Play a minimum of three games, and a maximum of six games, based on the next section.  If any game was a tie, the sixth game will be played.

How to Score Your Match

1. The following situations automatically settle the match:

A. Player A has three wins after 3 or 4 games.  Player A wins.
B. After six games, neither player has won three games.  The match is a draw.

2. If, after 5 games, the match is 3-2, then:

A. If the leader played the first game, win or loss, as the second player, the match is over, and that player wins.
B. If the leader played the first game, win or loss, as the first player, play a sixth game, with the leader as the second player.  If the leader wins or ties that game, he wins the match; otherwise the match ends in a draw.

How to Post Your Match

In this thread, make a post that includes links to your game logs, the final score, and the winner and loser of the match.

You must post your results by the deadline listed above.

What If We Can't Figure Out a Time?

There are two situations here:

If you have sent a PM to your opponent, but they have not responded to two separate PMs, send me a PM.  If they do not respond, you will be awarded a win by default.
If both players are in contact but are unable to find a mutually agreeable time, both players should send me PMs; both players will receive a draw by default.

Not much to say for myself, Watno played better in general, I got screwed by my opening in game 2, and didn't hit 5 in my first shuffle in game 3.

Thx for the games, I think I got pretty lucky and certainly shouldn't have won without you winning a game.
Did you make videos of these games btw?

The games went pretty quick and I drew a little better especially in the 2nd game where Joseph drew 2 copper + potion for missing a familiar while I hit it good on my scheme for a 9-1 curse victory. Further no very special games :).

Thanks for playing and good luck in the next rounds.

One of the most fun and tense games I ever had. I recommend watching this series against PitrPicko. Thanks for the great games, he was a great opponent.

Result for Kirian or anyone who wants to spoil themselves: I won 3-2

Commentary tomorrow as I now have to go sleep.

One of the most fun and tense games I ever had. I recommend watching this series against PitrPicko. Thanks for the great games, he was a great opponent.

Result for Kirian or anyone who wants to spoil themselves: I won 3-2

Commentary tomorrow as I now have to go sleep.

Here the comments after a rewatch:

Game 1: I was very lucky in this Tournament game. Although he had a Province and a Tournament he couldn't connect them in his Tactician turn. But on the other side I liked it trashing down with Spice Merchant and getting Gold with Market Square. And I had 2 Tournaments to his one which helped a lot to connect, but it wasn't even in a Tactician turn, so yeah I was really lucky there. Still he had a points lead and I was struggling to overcome that. Close to the end he played Tactician and I had nothing really in my hand to buy a Province. I could either play Followers or Tactician on my own. I decided to let him discard, but he only discarded from $6 to $5 as his deck was already fully of junk. This gave me the opportunity to win luckily.

Game 2: He had a IMO lucky 5/2 on a Vault/Chapel board where I decided to go straight Courtyard BM. I could get an early lead and decided to get the second last Province as we were even for a possible tie because I knew his deck would be better in the long run. He could get to a Duchy while I could only get to $4. He could then win by buying the last Province. I think here I was the one who was unfortunate, so we're equal again.

Game 3: We both went for a Monument engine with Border Village here. He executed it way better than me, no doubt. But I'm still not sure what I could have done better. I think the second Junk Dealer wasn't necessary as drawing with Hunting Grounds would be better than heavy trashing. Also the +buy source should have come more and earlier from Hamlet instead of that one Storeroom that I picked up. I don't think that I got the Hunting Grounds too late as winning the Monument split was really important here, but he got the engine pieces together faster than me, no way for a comeback.

Game 4: This was a crazy game. Again there was Border Village, here with Smithy for draw and Goons as main engine part. I focussed more in getting BVs+Smithies to play the 1 (and later 2 Goons) more regularly and then getting more Goons later. I couldn't get to a point though where I could draw a big part of my deck. Then he had a good turn where he depleted the Goons with BV as the second pile already depleted and the Smithies nearly depleted... and he had a lead of around 10VPs. I was in big trouble. Now every turn was just about getting the maximum amount of VP and I could slowly catch up. I did some crazy stuff that you probably won't see each game like playing Band of Misfits as Feast to gain a Duchy. Each turn I had to recalculate the current score at least twice. He was close to win this game I think twice. I think he was once $1 short to empty the Smithies and later with 3 Estates left, I could have bought one Estate for one more point which would have allowed him to win. I'm glad that I saw this possiblity and opted for the safe route. Although he had more Goons, I think my deck was just better so that I could get in the lead and then empty the Smithies myself. I still think Border Village + Smithy was the right move here, but I should have gotten some more Goons earlier, probably. Both our hands were shaking after this tense game.

Game 5: First time I encountered the Hermit/Market Square combo and in this important game. So I wasn't so sure how to execute it. Although he knew the combo, he went for a Trader+Rats+Market Square thing which allowed him to get tons of Silver and Gold each turn. But the combo is so fast. He first tried to deny me of some Market Squares so that I was really concerned. And I think if he would have denied me of more of them, I would have been in big troubles. The interesting part is that there was King's Court and other strong cards like Menagerie on the board, but they weren't important. He did get 2 KCs (which probably should have been Provinces), but then my combo kicked in for way too many money and too few buys. Still I could empty the Estates and buy 2 Provinces and win as there haven't been bought any VP cards so far. This was a great feeling and I'm glad that I won although I'm still not sure if it was deserved or not.

My opponent played very good and I hope he can still get a very good result in this tournament.

Thanks for great games! I guess I will spend some time rewatching it for a while. :D So thanks for recording.

Game 1:
In the first game it was probably all about getting those Followers. They are so hard to beat when no other curser is on the board. Well I went heavily for Provinces rather than Tournaments and I would probably do it again if I had the chance. If I would get those Followers you would be most probably dead on arrival, but that didn't happend. What really bothered me was, that you won 3 tournaments before I was really able to put that prov/tournament together. But I still think it is just some luck. But I don't know... Maybe some AI simulation could help here :)

Game 2:
Yeah 5/2 was totally lucky, but when I saw how well you're going with that courtyardBM I was really scared. Fact that I colided vault and chapel in at least first two reshuffles was also scary. I still don't know what was a correct play. If Chapel 3 cards or get gold via Vault. But that lucky end was just lucky...Very lucky.  That's all.

Game 3:
I was thinking about that 2nd JD and it would come handy when trashing hounting grounds but we didn't reach that point. Also I think that Hamlet was pretty important here. It is cheap source of action when you are drawing whole deck. But I played that Hamlets really poor. And I didn't track my deck well. I think it was the worst play from me in these 5 games. I was so scared of discarding monuments for action and I should have known that I well draw them again anyway. But as you said my combo pieces came together earlier.

Game 4:
Oh my! This was so exciting. Recounting poins every single turn. I was really thinking that I got you when I hit those double goons. Well not. What I thought will resolve this, was fact that I had more quarries. I was looking for grabbing some more actions with double goons and double quarry. But that didn't come together. I could really end anyhow it was just matter of luck in the end. But you kept your calm and finally got some poins. Maybe I shouldn't play that BoM as navigator or I should do better decisions there. Maybe BoM as feast would helped me more. I really don't know.

Game 5:
Just wow. I knew that market square hermit is good. And I also know that it is fast, but 12 turns?! Just wow. When I rethink it, countering that with getting MS is not very viable. If you get 3 you are fine. you can get like 12 golds from it and that is just enough.
I should take here those hermits. No doubt. Your opening was much much better than mine. So this is deserved win.
Trader MS Rats are pretty good. Flooding your deck with silvers and golds. But not so fast. Those KC was totally a mistake. Prov was correct play. I could get 4 prov in 14 turns. But, eh...  you could bought 6 in turn 12... nevermind :D You made better play here and deserved that win.

I really enjoyed playing with you. I have some chances to reach top half, but that's all. But I'm really looking forward to GokoDom II :D
It was great to see you thinking about each board and about each turn especially in that goons game. I think we had same thoughts in that game. If I don't buy this one stupid estate, he will buy this two smithies and win. And later, If I buy that one stupid estate, he will buy last two and win...

Rabid 4 vs SheCantSayNo 2

Many thanks for the match was fun as always.
You played very well, with a bit of bad luck at the end.

Game 1
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130423/log.505d732a51c359e6597efeb8.1366745964795.txt
Workshop, Caravan, Conspirator, Island, Thief, Bandit Camp, Catacombs, Festival, Mine, Mystic

We both go for Caravan Workshop into Conspirator, my 1 workshop against 3.
The extra workshops allow nice end game control and I lose this to the 3 pile on Islands.

Game 2
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130423/log.505d732a51c359e6597efeb8.1366746611533.txt
Develop, Forager, Oracle, Watchtower, Gardens, Golem, Contraband, Margrave, Minion, Mystic

Forager / Silver into Minions for us both.
Better draws and start player give me a 7 / 3 minion split for the win.

Game 3
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130423/log.505d732a51c359e6597efeb8.1366747892237.txt
Beggar, Herbalist, Scrying Pool, Trade Route, Warehouse, Ghost Ship, Vault, Wharf, Farmland, King's Court
We both stick to Warehouse Wharf King's Courts.
I stick to the minimum 7 copper, 3 Silver, 1 Gold = $16
Against a slightly slower but more powerful 7 Copper, 3 Silver, 4 Gold = $25
Which is $1 short of 3 prov + Estate on Turn 13

Game 4
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130423/log.505d732a51c359e6597efeb8.1366748485078.txt
Fishing Village, Smugglers, Storeroom, Farming Village, Pirate Ship, Jester, Rogue, Venture, Adventurer, Border Village
My Smugglers gets lucky in this game and it feels like I'm ahead.
But SheCantSayNo correctly wins the Duchy split 5/3, then spikes a 4 th Prov just in time.

Game 5
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130423/log.505d732a51c359e6597efeb8.1366749296276.txt
Duchess, Squire, Ambassador, Great Hall, Cutpurse, Ironmonger, JackOfAllTrades, Golem, Venture, Goons
My Ironmonger + Amb vs Amb + Amb.
Lots of early terminal collisions for SheCantSayNo and I win the Amb war.
Ironmonger + Greathalls lets me play lots of goons for the win.

Game 6
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130423/log.505d732a51c359e6597efeb8.1366750123715.txt
Fishing Village, Masquerade, Menagerie, Bishop, Bridge, Navigator, Worker's Village, Graverobber, Merchant Ship, Tribute,

Lots going on on this board.
My 4 /3 Masq + Bridge against 5/2 Merchant ship gives me the lead.
Maybe Masq nothing is better with 5/2?
I build towards a menagerie / village / Bridge mega turn.
Then end it on piles when I get the chance.

Stealth Tomato 3 - 1 Avin
2nd-win 18-18
2nd-win 42-30
2nd-loss 36-46
1st-win 10-9

Dark Ages goes nearly unrepresented in a match of close games, likely all within a turn.

Stealth Tomato 18-18 (wins on turns tiebreaker) http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.505de22f0cf2ef979299a5d8.1366804029617.txt http://dominionlogs.goko.com//20130424/log.505de22f0cf2ef979299a5d8.1366804029617.txt

Goofy thing with a bunch of $5s available, we both go Torturer with sauce. He allows me to take the last Curse while up 7 having already played his Governor (and with no +buys), which ends it on piles.

Stealth Tomato 42-30 http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.505de22f0cf2ef979299a5d8.1366805212919.txt
http://dominionlogs.goko.com//20130424/log.505de22f0cf2ef979299a5d8.1366805212919.txt

YW and Witch with Squire bane. He goes YW, I take Baron to get Witch. I end up winning the Curses 6-4, and my Tacticians prove slightly more effective than his Golds at picking up Provinces.

Avin Fernando 46-36 http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.505de22f0cf2ef979299a5d8.1366805697259.txt http://dominionlogs.goko.com//20130424/log.505de22f0cf2ef979299a5d8.1366805697259.txt

I get a bit too cute with Festival-Library, we PPR our way out of Duchies to get to next-Province-wins mode and he gets to it first.

Stealth Tomato 10-9
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.505de22f0cf2ef979299a5d8.1366806668782.txt http://dominionlogs.goko.com//20130424/log.505de22f0cf2ef979299a5d8.1366806668782.txt

Margrave-Quarry.  With 2 Margraves,  2 Market Squares, 5 Festivals, and 6 Ironmongers left, I start attacking the Duchies and draining piles on Turn 12. Avin takes a couple of Festivals, making my job easier, and I kill it on turn 15 and win by one.

We take completely diverging strategies here.  I build for NV/CR engine with Haggler support and he goes basically Bishop/BM.  I feel my CRs help him out greatly in the early game and he jumps out to a big lead.  He starts to stall in the midgame but still maintains a lead.  I start to realize that I will need the last 2 Provinces after we dwindle down the Duchies if I am going to win this game so I break PPR on my penultimate turn.  On my final turn, NV/CR line up for me and with a few extra cards from my NV mat I am able to buy the final Province (and D/E/E) and come away with a 52-45 victory.  Something simpler may have been better here, but it worked out in the end.

3-3: http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50d27829e4b00e9b124212b1.1366840590165.txt
This game is why I love Dominion.  As second player, I did not want to mirror him in a Workshop/Gardens race so I looked at the board and there was a definite possibility to build for a HoP megaturn.  Plus, it was more fun trying to build something to beat Workshop/Gardens  ;D!!  There was strong trashing (Upgrade), an easy way to acquire what I need (University), strong draw (Hunting Grounds), and virtual money (Conspirator).  The biggest problem was that there weren't any villages besides University.  I never quite got things to line up right and it took a large turn at the end just to make the game close (lost 42-39) .  In retrospect, I really should have contested him on Gardens and bought 2 or 3 of them and then Upgraded out of them.

I just got thrashed 3-0 by Philosophyguy. I'll comment on my insane thoughts once he posts the logs.

philosophyguy wins 3-0 over gman314:

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50ad02dae4b0fb8e18c1ae6b.1366848384502.txt
Haven, Lighthouse, Cutpurse, Remodel, Contraband, Ghost Ship, Horn of Plenty, Junk Dealer, Fairgrounds, Forge
philosophyguy 1-0, 42-21

We both open Lighthouse/Cutpurse, but gman does for Junk Dealer and Remodel, while I just go into money/Ghost Ship. Not much to say here.

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50ad02dae4b0fb8e18c1ae6b.1366848865747.txt
Develop, Forager, Hermit, Tunnel, JackOfAllTrades, Monument, Cache, Catacombs, Hunting Party, Saboteur
philosophyguy 2-0, 41-27

He gets a bad 5/2 split here. I do some Forager/Jack stuff, which seems to go ok. His Monument worries me, but I'm able to buy Provinces pretty consistently with Forager clearing out the Coppers.

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50ad02dae4b0fb8e18c1ae6b.1366849359606.txt
Hermit, Tunnel, JackOfAllTrades, Sea Hag, Ill-Gotten Gains, Upgrade, Vault, Venture, Witch, Hunting Grounds
philosophyguy 3-0, 36-19

He goes for Sea Hag, while I opt for Jack and Hermit. I get a couple of collisions but am able to keep my deck reasonably curse free. He has an interesting Upgrade/Venture deal going that is able to Province consistently, but without +Buy he gets caught unable to break PPR several turns and I get the win.

Thanks for the games! Although they weren't the most interesting of boards, I enjoyed playing you and hope we can do some more games in the future.

In game 1 I thought I could get some crazy remodel stuff going with a thin deck, but it was just too slow and I didn't get enough Gold. Maybe I could have done something interesting Remodeling to Fairgrounds, but I didn't think about this early enough. By the time I thought about this I was out of Estates and Coppers, meaning I needed 2 more types.

In game 2, I tried Hunting Party/Monument, but I had trouble getting to $5 except for my opening where I figured that Monument would probably be better. I thought about picking up a Forager, especially since he added Silver to the trash, but decided that it would just give me an extra name in my deck until I got rid of my Estates.

In Game 3, +Buy was indeed a major inhibitor for me.

Results of kn1tt3r vs. Polk5440:    3-3 DRAW

Game 1:
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50ba29b8e4b015dcbac5f45a.1366831184638.txt

Ruins, Adventurer, Bureaucrat, and Moat are bad cards, right? This game may be the exception. kn1tt3r goes first and opens Cultist/Moat to my Silver/Silver and for a while it's downhill from there for me. I lose the Ruins split 4-6 due to the rediculously good timing of his Moat. We both transition to Fairgrounds, which makes my 4 different Ruins a plus. I pick up a Bureaucrat turn 10. I actually think the Silvers from this card is what won it for me late -- even though I never landed the attack because of... MOAT!! Grrr. I pick up an Adventurer turn 12. Ok, that was a mistake. It does nothing for me but add variety, and should have been a Tactician, probably (or even Gold or Fairgrounds). The endgame was attrocious to calculate.

This game illustrates why I love not having a point counter: the uncertainty! the suspense! the headache-inducing second guessing! I thought I was ending the game on a tie, but somehow miscounted and found myself one point ahead for the win. 60-61.

Game 2:
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50ba29b8e4b015dcbac5f45a.1366831753634.txt

Well, hmmm. I am not sure how this game got away from me so quickly. Courtyard-big money for both of us. I augmented with Trader, he with Talisman.  We both pick up a Noble Brigand, as well. I thought he was picking up Silk Roads too early, but then late they helped him solidify a lead. So I guess I ignored Duchies and Silk Roads for too long? 42-33

Game 3:
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50ba29b8e4b015dcbac5f45a.1366832374696.txt

Now this is really interesting: Steward, Rats, Forge, and Market Square. Wandering Minstral, Cartographer, Harvest, Secret Chamber, and Tunnel. Great Hall rounds it out. This is a great tournament kingdom. Too bad I freak out and keep it too simple: Steward and Market Squares galore. While I get a lead early, he correctly utilized Cartographer, Wandering Minstral, and Tunnel (but maybe buying them too early?) to provide longevity for the deck, as well. Tunnels for points late clog my deck up too much. He rightly wins. 32-28

Game 4:
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50ba29b8e4b015dcbac5f45a.1366833466166.txt

This is a game of which I am really proud: Ambassador was NOT the key card, for once. We both have 5-2. I open Harvest, he Ambassador. My goal is variety: Harvest and HoP. I get my one and only Ambassador on the first shuffle, he gets a second. There's enough trashing that I can set up Border Village/Apprentice drawing large hands, consistently turning HoPs into Provinces, and buying some more for the win. 23-38

Game 5:
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50ba29b8e4b015dcbac5f45a.1366834139344.txt

Ironworks, Hermit, Silk Road rush. I still suck at these rushes. He correctly uses Hermit to grab some early Silvers and a Madman while I try to get cute gaining Estates. Instead, I get clogged and lose. 28-13

Ok, it's 3-2, but he started game 1 so it's on to game 6!

Game 6:
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50ba29b8e4b015dcbac5f45a.1366835764778.txt

This board was a disaster waiting to happen. It could have gone either way several times. I get a Workshop while he doesn't. I want to gain lots of Shanty Towns and Oracles to build a little engine until I get some KCs going. I make a mistake getting Province instead of KC early, but still win, 39-28.

So, 3-3 Draw. This was a fantastic series of games. Great, kingdoms, too. Too bad the games weren't recorded. :(. Thanks kn1tt3r for the match. I am hoping both of us can make it into the knockout round still, so we can continue the battle!

Results of kn1tt3r vs. Polk5440:    3-3 DRAW

This was a fun one with an unfortunate ending for me. Probably I didn't build up enough and choked badly in the end. I actually was somewhat certain that this last Duchy would be his win, since I was counting and trying to keep track of the score. Probably not optimally played by both of us, but fun nevertheless.

Game 2:
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50ba29b8e4b015dcbac5f45a.1366831753634.txt

In retrospect I think the Silk Roads haven't been such a great idea, but the Talisman-Silvers kept my deck running. I presume this goes down to first player advantage.

Game 3:
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50ba29b8e4b015dcbac5f45a.1366832374696.txt

Tunnels for points late clog my deck up too much. He rightly wins. 32-28
I actually thought his one was lost for me, but in the end I had some good draws and he didn't, so that's that. I'm really not so sure my strategy was better, I probably was just a little bit more lucky.

Game 4:
http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50ba29b8e4b015dcbac5f45a.1366833466166.txt

Great game by him, though my start was a bit unfortunate (and 5-2 is not exactly great if want to go Amb). With 2 Ambs I drew CCEEE and after that (if I remember correctly) AACCC. But yeah, very well done by him and a deserved win.

Game 5:

Not a lot to say. IW/SR, first player, win.

Game 6:

Hm... I don't really know what made the difference here. Maybe his Workshop providing lots of Shanty Towns and Oracles, which made his deck a lot more reluctant to greening...? But I also felt (after quite a lead) I had some bad luck in the end with 2-3 dead hands, but well... maybe this was also a result of me not having build up enough.

So, 3-3 Draw. This was a fantastic series of games. Great, kingdoms, too. Too bad the games weren't recorded. :(. Thanks kn1tt3r for the match. I am hoping both of us can make it into the knockout round still, so we can continue the battle!
Yeah, great match, and sorry I couldn't record. I'm currently on a sort-of-holiday in Colombia and had to use my GF's laptop. But at least we were in the same time zone, which made it far more easier to agree on a date than being 7 hours apart.

DG vs ftl, DG wins 3-2

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130425/log.50612a9b51c36e573294bfd0.1366903192310.txt
Fool's Gold, Oasis, Watchtower, Familiar, Armory, Farming Village, Spice Merchant, Duke, Festival, Nobles

I go first open oasis/potion, DG opens watchtower/potion. In retrospect, perhaps an Armory opening would have worked here. Anyway, I get two familiars, a spice merchant, and an armory, and very slowly build up an oasis/festival/farming village/watchtower engine. DG gets his familiar later, getting more early watchtowers, and switches to buying coppers, presumably for duke/duchy; I'm worried for a while when he starts getting duchies, but my engine comes together and I get a few provinces before piling out.

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130425/log.50612a9b51c36e573294bfd0.1366904544509.txt
Apothecary, Forager, Steward (bane), Workshop, Salvager, Young Witch, Festival, Rogue, Treasury, Adventurer

DG opens potion for apothecaries, I elect to skip the potion and open YW/steward. Since DG isn't trashing his coppers, I load up heavily on the Young Witches, getting three. Somehow DG's Apothecary/Festival/Steward engine comes together and he pulls ahead. Still not quite sure how that happened... Looking back at the logs, I guess I just ended up getting too many terminals.

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130425/log.50612a9b51c36e573294bfd0.1366905076450.txt
Embargo, Bureaucrat, Island, Marauder, Navigator, Cartographer, Catacombs, Library, Margrave, Treasury

I open margrave/embargo on 5/2 and embargo the libraries, DG opens marauder/silver. We mostly play BM, with some marauders and terminal draw. I break PPR on a turn where I played a margrave, figuring that with a 3-card hand DG wouldn't be able to get a province and I'd have a good shot at the last one; unfortunately, I'm not paying close enough attention at what he discards, and I should've seen that he discarded a spoils, meaning he can afford the last province. DG wins by a point.

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130425/log.50612a9b51c36e573294bfd0.1366905702907.txt
Cellar, Ironmonger, Rats, Tournament, Worker's Village, Apprentice, Embassy, Margrave, Expand, Forge
I play tournament-BM with literally nothing else but tournaments and money. I get Followers first and get 6 provinces by turn 17, never buying any action cards besides three tournaments. Ohh yeah, pure skill. Uh huh. Master class right here.

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130425/log.50612a9b51c36e573294bfd0.1366906721233.txt
Cards: Market Square, Shanty Town, Village, Trader, Treasure Map, Explorer, Margrave, Market, Pillage, Trading Post

I open silver/silver and make a village/margrave engine. DG opens Trader/Market square, has them collide on turn 3 with an overgrown estate (and, looking at the log, his necropolis and hovel too), then draws 5 coppers on turn 4 for a margrave. Dammit. I almost make a comeback with the engine against DG's more BM-ish play, but can't quite pull it off, and lose by 1 point (with all the estates and duchies and provinces bought out, I'd trashed one estate that I'd used to trash hovel, and otherwise we're even.) Close finish to a close series.

RTT Ties Beyond Awesome 3-3

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50612f220cf2d91d287a93b8.1366830243070.txt
Cellar, Herbalist, Squire, Cutpurse, Militia, Band of Misfits, Counting House, Treasury, Upgrade, Vault
We both open Cutpurse Silver and its a Mirror Vault Match.
In the end I win from first seat with 42 - 34

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50612f220cf2d91d287a93b8.1366830911611.txt
Cellar, Loan, Oracle, Cutpurse, Nomad Camp, Talisman, Young Witch, Count, Ill-Gotten Gains, Vault, Witch
A heavy cursing board where i shuffle very unlucky and get my first 5$ in turn 6
So i lost the curse split badly and the game rather close with 27 - 31

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50612f220cf2d91d287a93b8.1366832061192.txt
Beggar, Vagrant, University, Storeroom, Nomad Camp, Scout, Wandering Minstrel, Horn of Plenty, Library, Trading Post
Here Beyond Awesome tries a HoP Megaturn but has very Bad luck in the turn to discard most HoP with the Wandering Minstrel. So he gets just 2 Provinces by that. I went rather a Tradingpost BM strat. and won in the end with one estate I bought in my last turn. 36-35

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50612f220cf2d91d287a93b8.1366832829577.txt
Lighthouse, Scheme, Golem, Band of Misfits, Bazaar, Cache, Knights, Mandarin, Treasury, Fairgrounds
we both go rather BM and i buy a lot of lighthouses to be save from the knights. In the end I had bad shuffle Luck and drew a lot VP cards while my Golds are in the botom of my deck. At the end I loose 42-44

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50612f220cf2d91d287a93b8.1366833344914.txt
Coppersmith, Pirate Ship, Bazaar, Embassy, Graverobber, Treasury, Venture, Witch, Altar, Hunting Grounds
Bazar Huntingrounds Graverobber and Witch. A lot of strong 5$ but not cheap card supporting to get them quickly.
we both Graverobber a few cards to provinces and i won 40-33.

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130424/log.50612f220cf2d91d287a93b8.1366834040820.txt
Fishing Village, Oracle, Shanty Town, Woodcutter, Noble Brigand, Spice Merchant, Cultist, Horn of Plenty, Laboratory, Nobles
this game I lost pretty clearly. we pile out FV and Ruins Quickly and i get an early province. but he gets a good HoP engine and piles out the Nobles for the win. very well played.11-17

Well Played Beyond Awesome. I thought I would loose some games I luckily won. Thank you for the games.

First, I was surprised, where curses might've come from. Then I thought, it might've been you cursing your bad luck. Then only I realised you hadn't changed the cards from first game's setup.
