What card is missing from this list? For this puzzle you will need to think outside of the Dominion box.

Wharf
Market
Warehouse
Quarry
Governor (assuming it will be released in Hinterlands)

City and Horse Traders could perhaps be added to the list but I chose to exclude them, they are not good clues, and they are not the answer. No knowledge of the governor card is needed, other than it might exist.

Bank. Black Market, Library, Lighthouse, and Trading Post work if the category is expanded slightly--assuming I'm right about the category.

Argh! I think this is a puzzle I can solve, but I am not able to identify the missing card!

Though, if I think outside of that box, I would say library, lighthouse, and black market.

I'll try to think on the original puzzle some more.

Although, I think that Island might be stretching it. It's kind of technically true, but I don't think it fits like the others.

Argh! I thought I had it with Great Hall, but that wouldn't fit either.

And I don't think that Harvest counts, but that's kind of close.

I just want to say Familiar, as in, "I should be familiar enough with this topic to know what I'm talking about!"

I've never played the game, but based on the other user responses and a quick Google search http://brettspielwelt.info/rules/PuertoRico/ seems to suggest that Colony, Lighthouse, Library, Trading Post and Black Market are all valid answers... unless I'm not on the right track.

If it is what we're thinking, Lighthouse, Library, Trading Post and Black Market all sort of count but technically not really, they only appear in that game's expansion, which I think DG was probably excluding originally.

And I think it's Bank, not Colony, because while you do have colonists, there is nothing in the game actually named Colony, but the Doubloons are stored in the Bank. Island I think could also work, because each player board has island spaces where the plantations go...

But then since you say you haven't played the game, who could blame you for not knowing that stuff?

The answer I was looking for was "Island" as a term used in "Puerto Rico".  There is a trader, a city hall, cargo ships, and colonists but they don't really fit into a Dominion card. Each player does however have an island with island spaces to hold the plantations.
