This happened to me on Goko: I played King's Court on a Deathcart. I only had one other Action Card in hands (Abandoned Mine), so I trashed it. Then, my King played Deathcart again, and I had no card to trash, so my Deathcart was trashed.

And yet, when all was said and done, I received $15 from Kinging the Deathcart. Is that correct? I was thinking I would only get $10, similar to how I couldn't get +$6 for Kinging a Mining Village and trashing it 3 times. But I guess the coin portion of Deathcart isn't contingent on trashing it... but can I really play it a third time if it goes into the trash after the second time?

Goko has it right. The state of being trashed doesn't stop KC or TR from playing a card. (It does stop KC or TR from moving the card back to the play area.)

Yes, it looks like Goko has it right. If you follow the text literally, +$5 is awarded, and then the card has instructions about trashing. It's the "If you don't" clause that forces you to trash Deathcart, so the +$5 is not conditional at all.

I think for many of us, the way that we think of Death Cart is "Hmm, I have a few Action cards in my hand, and one is a Death Cart, so I can get $5 if I'm willing to trash one of them".  But reading the text, it's pretty clear that you get +$5 per play, regardless of anything coming after.
