Power Grid Strategy: the blog. NOW PUBLIC!

EDIT 8/16/13: I'm making the blog public today! You should go check it out!

Still under construction at the moment, but there seems to be a demand for some more in-depth discussion of Power Grid, so...

http://powergrid.boardgamestrategy.net/

I'm hoping this subforum will be a place for us to have more in-depth discussion, and to refine the articles I hope to post on the blog eventually.

...just another site in the bgs community, hopefully there's enough interest here to form a community and do lots of cool stuff.

Sounds interesting. I don't know if I know the game well enough to contribute, but maybe. Could be interesting.

But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

The blog has gone public. There isn't much content there. I'm going to churn out some articles as fast as I can but I want them to go through some review here before I post them.

OK nevermind, it's private again. We'll wait until there's a decent amount of content available before making it public.

So I have seven articles and a video that I've made. I feel like that's enough content generated to get the blog started.

...but only one of them has gotten enough feedback to even make a second draft, and none of them have gotten enough feedback yet for me to feel comfortable that they are ready to be published, or that they are even about topics people care about. I fear that I'm not going to be able to make much more progress without the help of the community.

I understand most of the people reading these articles haven't played Power Grid enough to feel comfortable correcting the content of my articles. That's fine, obviously I'd like for some way to verify that what I'm saying isn't total crap other than just my own observations, but perhaps that's aiming too high at the moment.

On the other hand, it would be awesome if those people reading the articles would let me know if I'm at least getting my point across, or if not, how I could do better. Without at least that, I don't know how comfortable I'd be publishing any of this stuff.

I've learned that on these forums, silence does not equal consent, silence equals disinterest; that's why I'm wanting some kind of validation. Without that, I could only assume the only person interested is theory, and while that's great, I don't know if that's enough to publish a blog over.

For what it's worth, I (as someone who hasn't played Power Grid yet) have read through all the articles you've posted so far, and they seem to make sense. I obviously can't comment on the specifics of the strategies, but the general approach seems fine, and you write clearly.

So I don't see much a reason to keep the blog private at this point. There's a good amount of content there, and making the blog public will be the thing that motivates me more than anything else to continue making content. So I suppose I'll do my best to promote it, and I encourage you to check it out!

This is as good a place as any!

Bought power grid yesterday because of all the good things I'd heard about it in the past, but more importantly, your "how to teach" video sealed it for me. played 6p (everyone playing for the first time) and it was amazing! so thanks :)
