Goko levels vs. iso levels

So, I was wondering what players here believe is the correlation between Goko levels and iso ranks. It is still hard to pinpoint an exact rank correlation, but here is my guess for now.

7000=Level 40/50 (if you did not cheat to get that rank)
6000=Level 30
5000=Level 20
4000=Level 10

something like that seems right, though it is very murky, as my rating would be higher if I got all the wins from quitters...  that makes me think the numbers should trend lower once the exploit is dealt with.  I hope they reset the leaderboard or something.

I wouldn't put any great weight into those Goko levels at all. People are playing in different ways with different expansions. For example, I'm mainly playing 3 player vs bots with just base and hinterlands and it's particularly difficult to get any rating that way!

Goko's rating system doesn't seem particularly, uh, good to me. I mean, there is a general correlation that better players end up with higher numbers, but it's pretty weak, and as DG says, it's EXTREMELY dependent on who you play, and not just how you do - and not only for the reasons he gives...

I don't even understand the rating system. I see a pro rating, a casual rating, and a daily rating? Yeah, I don't get it. I really wish they would make this better.

And thus was born a new form of masochism.

You only need to look at the pro rating. There are the games rated, that you play in professional mode (all cards random, host doesn't know the setup before)

casual rating lists all the games you play in casual mode (hosts knows the cards that will be played, and can set up specific sets of 1-10 cards.

daily rating tell you how many games you have played this particular day

adventure rating shows how well you did on the adventures (basically the more zaps you use the better you are there).

as for the ratings, i think the 4000 range is for people playing better than iso level 10.

7000+ = 40+
6000  = 30
5000  = 20
4000  = 15
3000  = 10

I think it's how many games you have won this day, not played.

Is it transparent how the leaderboard works?  I'm literally 33rd on the Pro Board...but I've played a handful of games only, just to try out Goko.  I see names I recognize all over the board (Watno, Robz, WW, etc.) but with just a few games played, I'm up with you guys?  That's crazy, given I know where I am in relation to you all on iso...

I feel very honored being mentioned in that list, but I'm not really good. But I'm really not in the same league as Robz and WW (though i had a 6-1 record against WW at one point :P) I was about lvl 35 on iso when playing actively for the last time.

In general though, I feel goko ratings are too swingy.

Do any of you understand how the iso level work? My iso level usually doesn't change, even when I beat higher ranked players.

It's an implementation of Microsoft TrueSkill. https://github.com/aiannacc/Goko-Salvager/wiki/Rating-Systems

Essentially, you have two parameters: a skill estimate (mu) and an uncertainty (sigma). Each time you play a game, it updates these parameters. The displayed "level" is mu-3*sigma, which means that the system is actually 99% sure that your skill is above this level. Ratings are much less swingy than goko's, which might be why you aren't seeing immediate changes from beating higher-ranked players.

Especially your level isn't likely to change from a single game, akin to how your bank saldo rounded off to the nearest 1000 is unlikely to change much between day-to-day transactions (assuming you don't live in Zimbabwe).

Your mu (which you can find here) should be changing though.
