my understanding is that something is missing?

spy
thief
scrying pool
pirate ship
fortune teller

hints:

1. the criterion the list is based on depends on the function of the cards and not artwork.

2. the criterion is logical, but a little subjective.

3. the criterion could be reworded slightly to include minion on the list; with the wording i have in mind, minion is unambiguously excluded.

Cayvie got it! Meanwhile I've made exactly zero progress on Cayvie's puzzle.

Tydude: For the solution that I have in mind, I think that saboteur is a "sometimes yes/sometimes no" while everything on the list (as well as Cayvie's answer) is an "essentially always no." But saboteur did give me some pause while I was making the list.

I'd go with cayvie's answer probably. Likely no negative effect on me from the attack if the top of my deck is all green cards.

guided - interestingly, your reasoning is completely different from mine! (except of course my explanation revolves around the fact that they're all attack cards). it's interesting that this set of cards has these two properties in common - the one exception is that i think your property runs into trouble with jester.

the reasoning i had in mind was (complete spoiler to the whole puzzle now as i'm going to bed) that these are the attack cards against which it's completely unhelpful to have a watchtower in your deck.

A card which creates an exception to guided's explanation is if harem is at the top of the deck, as it'll still be hit by pirate ship/thief and will probably be discarded by spy/scrying pool

I could see Province get discarded in Tournament games.

Likely I said :P Note the word "subjective" too. Harem is not what I mean by a "green card" (it's green/yellow), and so long as there are Curses left Jester definitely has a negative effect if you reveal a green card!

ehunt, your official answer will require some rewording, though I see where you are coming from. Many of these attacks tend to leave useless cards on top of your deck, which makes it safer than usual to draw blind with a Watchtower and no extra action just to cycle some bad cards off the top of your deck. This is especially true of Rabble. Also, Watchtower's ability to top-deck cards tends to be slightly protective against things that mess with the top of your deck (since the cards you top-deck tend to go straight into your hand before you can be attacked). So Watchtower is a somewhat stronger buy against these attacks than it is without them. I don't have a good suggestion for how to unambiguously fix the criteria. "Attacks that don't decrease your hand size or make you gain cards" is perhaps not the most interesting category ;)
