Galzria, I don't think your method works...you're MUCH more likely to end up with a number between 400-600 rolling 20 dice at once.

Well, yes, you're right - however the second number does not need to be random. I could choose 500 every single time. So my method of picking the second number shouldn't really matter.

Except, you could argue that the 1d1000 is much much much more likely to hit 900+ or 100- (1/5 of the time even!) than the 20d50, and as a result I'm making it harder on myself to win because I'm artificially limiting my guess.

And while that's technically true...

I still think it's no different than my never guessing sub-100 - and on any given roll my odds of matching are still 1/1000, regardless of what I pick or how I get there.
