It's about time this one got going.  I'll be first to swallow my pride.

In an otherwise close game against SadPanda wherein I trash a Province.  My brain was stuck on "Province" and told myself that I needed to click on the "Province" button to get one....

Code: [Select]
--- shark_bait's turn 16 ---
   shark_bait plays a Worker's Village.
... drawing 1 card and getting +2 actions and +1 buy.
   shark_bait plays a Governor.
   ... getting +1 action.
   ... shark_bait trashes a Province.
   ... There's nothing for shark_bait to gain.
   ... TheSadPanda trashes a Silver.
   ... TheSadPanda gains a Gardens.
   shark_bait plays 2 Coppers and a Gold.
   shark_bait buys a Gardens.
   shark_bait buys a Copper.
   (shark_bait draws: an Estate, a Province, 2 Coppers, and a Worker's Village.)

Is quite curious - Who is the mystical "Celestial Chameleon"?

Senator Hamann plays a King's Court.
... and plays a Trade Route.
   ... ... trashing a Harvest.
   ... ... getting +1 buy and +$1.
... and plays the Trade Route again.
   ... ... trashing a King's Court.
   ... ... getting +1 buy and +$1.
... and plays the Trade Route a third time.
   ... ... trashing a Silver.
   ... ... getting +1 buy and +$1.
   Senator Hamann buys a Silver.
(Senator Hamann draws: a Bazaar, a Monument, and 3 Coppers.)

Obviously wanted to KC-KC-Havest-Trade Route.

On goko, I often click "end turn" instead of "play treasures"... Now if you miss your 4$ Sea Hag on the opening, you basically destroyed any hope of wining the game  ;D

The whole interface in Goko is an invitation to 'user error'.

As I posted in the thread for the greatest moment:
This was not really a great moment for me, but I think it might be funny to see. I was happy that I can forge some cards into a Colony:

Code: [Select]
  — GwinnR's turn 22 —
   GwinnR plays a Forge.
   ... trashing a Curse, a Tournament, a Shanty Town, and a Duchy.
   ... gaining nothing.
But I unfortunately I had misscounted :-( I think I should go to bed now...

What's funny is that I read through those cards and added up the costs in my head and came out with 11 at first.

I treated Shanty Town as being 2 cost. I'm not sure if I got the cost confused with the number of actions or just felt it should be a 2-cost card.

The card that always makes me do this is Farmland.

"Okay, click to buy Farmland. Now I want my Province, click the word Province. NOOOOO!"

Yeah, I've definitely won some games on this. Heck, I've passed a card like this over copper in a lot of cases where they don't have another action to play it.

In 2011 I accidentally mined a platinum instead of whatever else I had in my hand.  Wouldn't be too bad except platinums were all gone.

My favorite goko missklick is trashing actions you want to play next with Jack of all Trades. It's because the cards you can trash with Jack start to flash red, and i always think "yeah, thats what i gonna play now....wait why is it in trash now...f***

Recently swindled an opponent's province with peddler on the board. My train of thought went something like, "Ok, be careful because peddler is on the board so you have a decision here. You have to make sure you click on province because... damnit."

I did this with death cart today. Then you don't even get the "bonus" silvers or the DC/C.

I also click end turn all the time on goko instead of play treasures, but when I do play my treasures, it blocks a farmland remodel since you can't undo.

Here's a lovely "misclick." In this game, I'm going for a Scrying Pool engine. My opponent doesn't even have a potion, so once I buy my ninth Scrying Pool, I alone have control over the depletion of the last pile (Pawns and Grand Markets were empty, but no other piles were close). I have a decent position here, since I'm able to end the game with a lead as long as I can buy the last SP and enough VP; but my opponent doesn't have that option.

We're at my Turn 16 now:

My SPs are overdrawing my deck at this point, so I have my deck in hand with some GMs and Pawns left to play. Almost on auto-pilot, I play an Upgrade, thinking I'll trash the Potion into a Duchy for some extra points. Once I clicked to trash the Potion, I realized my mistake. Without a Potion, I can't 3-pile on this turn, possibly opening the door for my opponent! I'd have to buy the Potion back that turn and hope to get another turn with the option to end it on a win.

I was talking to my opponent on Skype at the time, so once I did that, we both talked about how screwed that made me for a bit. Before that, I had enough to just buy two Colonies and an SP, which would have been enough to win; Trying to maximize points, I just potentially threw away the game!

Then I realized there was still a way around it...

Before looking at the log, I was sure your solution was going to be upgrading a Squire, gaining the scrying pool. Ah well.

The Coppers are an on-gain effect of Cache.  Since he never gained the Cache, he never got an opportunity to reveal Trader for the Coppers.

On the other hand, if he'd trashed the Cache with a Watchtower, he'd still be able to top deck the Coppers.

Operation: edge case: Find a case where you'd actually want to trash the Cache and topdeck two coppers. I think I can do it, although explaining the topdecking is a little harder.

Some crazy Apothecary engine (maybe with Coppersmith?) where Cache will just get in the way but you're happy with some more Copper.

Why topdeck?  Maybe you gained the Cache midturn somehow and will be able to draw those Coppers into your hand?  Or hey, a bit better -- you ARE using Coppersmith, and you've already played Scheme-Coppersmith.  Now you topdeck your Coppersmith with two Copper or better.

Probably needs some finesse to make this convincing, but it's a start. :P

You already have lab, KC, coppersmith in your hand, a spare action to play them, and some spare buys to make use of the kc-coppersmith you'll play afterwards. You  have no other card draw. You're gaining the cache mid-turn via something, you trash the cache because it'll just get in the way of your engine which relies on kc-coppersmith for money, you top-deck the coppers so that you can play your lab to draw them to have a guaranteed $8 more to spend.

You've got a bunch of Gardens and need two cards to bump them up, but you don't want the Cache in your deck because your opponent has a Possession thing going and can buy a Province with your deck if you have the Cache in it?

You have Tortured your opponent down to 0 cards in hand, topdecked a Forager, a Fortress and a Native Village (mat contains 10 King's Courts and nine Foragers) with Courtyard and need to buy 4 Provinces to end and win the game. The trash contains a Copper and a Silver. You need to trash the Cache for the Foragers to produce enough $, and even though you probably won't need to topdeck the coppers, doing so will ensure that you will have the required $32.

I'm still recovering from the over 4-hour concert that I played at yesterday, and apparently it shows. Then let's say you've topdecked them with Armory instead. If you topdeck Cache, your hand will be either Cache, Copper, Forager, NV, Fortress or Cache, Copper, Copper, Forager, Fortress (with NV on top of the deck) and unless I fail to see something here, the first alternative will make $31 unless Fortress draws you $ because there is no second copper, and the second alternative will force you into playing the Fortress, and then you'll have to trash the coppers and some Foragers, which won't be enough for 4 Province buys either.

Two things recently for me: I was playing on Isotropic in a tired haze in the morning and three(!) times clicked for a copper when I wanted silvers.

Last night, I bought an Expand /w $7 instead of picking up a KC. Lost the game because of it.

HP + Conspirator game. I think we evenly split the hunting parties, but I start getting provinces a turn earlier so should be in line to win. A few turns later I have $2 and $5 in coins and one spare HP left and am like "eh, that's $8, already have all my green cards in my hand, might as well leave whatever is on the deck"

(then I drew SCCEE so all hopes at splitting the provinces were gone)

You play a Warehouse.
... You draw a Copper, a Warehouse, and a Gold and get +1 action.
... You discard a Curse, a Cutpurse, and a Copper.
You play a Warehouse.
... (You reshuffle.)
... You draw a Curse, a Cutpurse, and a Copper and get +1 action.

...

If you wonder where the misclick there is: apparently I misclicked by posting it in this topic, so I guess it counts? Anyway, I removed and posted it where it belongs. Qvist, can you upvote there again? :P

Nords3X4 gets +1 action and +$1 from the Fishing Village.
Nords3X4 plays an Envoy.

... drawing 2 Coppers, a Chapel, and 2 Estates.

So yeah, Copper was not what I meant to force him to discard there...

This happened IRL, but I'll call it a misclick. Synaptic misfire, at least.

After playing a long chain of Grand Markets and Conspirators, plus one Oasis, this was my hand: Trading Post, Silver, Silver, Copper. "What the heck," I said, "might as well," trashed Silver-Copper for Silver, then realized I was left with $15.

Final score was tied, I was P1, so... Whoops.

Oh yeah, that happened to me too.  I had a city engine going (can't remember if they were level 1, 2, or 3 depending on how you use the power levels) and I was neck-in-neck with somebody.  I was going to end the game this turn, played all my cities, peddlers, and such trying to get enough coins to end it.  I had a few coins extra, when I realized I could have bishoped a peddler (like I had been doing for the last few turns).  I still ended the game, and I was one point behind...

Not really a misclick, but a stupid "misthought":
In this game with Courtyard and Loan I put back a Walled Village and than played a Loan. Next turn I wondered why I don't have a Walled Village in hand  :o

Quote
--- GwinnR's turn 15 ---
GwinnR plays a Walled Village.
... drawing 1 card and getting +2 actions.
GwinnR plays a Rabble.
... drawing 3 cards.
... d.r.e.w. draws and reveals a Colony, a Courtyard, and a Gold.
... d.r.e.w. discards a Courtyard and a Gold.
... d.r.e.w. puts a Colony back on the deck.
GwinnR plays a Courtyard.
... (GwinnR reshuffles.)
... drawing 3 cards.
... putting 1 card back on the deck.
GwinnR plays 2 Coppers, a Gold, and a Silver.
GwinnR plays a Loan.
... drawing and revealing a Walled Village and a Horse Traders and then a Copper.
... trashing the Copper.
... discarding a Walled Village and a Horse Traders.
GwinnR buys a Province.
(GwinnR draws: a Copper, 3 Platinums, and a Rabble.)

Yes, so it didn't really hurt (especially as I had enogh money in the next turn to buy a Colony ;-)), but I was really shocked: "What there is a mistake on isotropic?...Oh I played a Loan  :-\"

reminds me of the time when I trashed my last HoP to gain a fairgrounds (and of course only had 15 card types before that. and I didn't even really need to begin with. had a big lead and was just driving the piles down)

After having played 8 unique cards, I discover that my HoPs were only worth $7 because... I had trashed all of my Mining Villages when I didn't even have to.

reminds me of the time when I trashed my last HoP to gain a fairgrounds (and of course only had 15 card types before that. and I didn't even really need to begin with. had a big lead and was just driving the piles down)
Reminds me of the time when I remodeled my only Witch to gain a Fairgrounds. Then I checked the point tracker, saw that I have enough points to win the game if I buy the last Duchy to three-pile the game, and was left wondering why I lost.

Wasn't 2013 though.

Happened to me on goko, so I thought it was a bug ;-)

I played a Smuggler and there were some cards to chose. I chose one and then I wanted to buy something, but I could play my treasures. Ok, damn goko, then I play without treasures :-|
After the second time it happened, I realised, that I automatically got a card from the Smuggler, because my opponent had only bought one. So my click on the card which I wanted to gain was my buy. Surely I can't play my treasures after that.  :o

Really crippled myself in this game.

Opened 2/5 on a Young Witch board, Duchess is the bane. Of course the bot is going to go heavy YW, because they always do. (Even when the bane is something I would double-open anyway, like FV or Amb.) But I figure, forget the bane, I can just grab this Chapel and not worry about it.

A couple of turns later, it gets to my hand and... wait, Cellar? Fuuuuuuuck. There's no trashing on this board at all.

Okay, but what was my starting $5? Choices were Embassy, Pillage, Stables, I bought a Stables. Best choice? I don't know, I wasn't thrilled with any of them. Oh, hey, I forgot to check what got pushed to the second page, let's look... Wharf? Fuuuuuuck.

A few turns in, I finally hit $5 again, time to get that Wharf. Except that in my haste, I miss the next-page button and buy a Caravan instead.

A comedy of errors. I got slaughtered.

I have serious problems on Goko when I buy something with Trader or Watchtower in my hand... buy gold, reveal Trader; buy Province, reveal Watchtower~

Can't not click a flashing green card~

I passed a province with masquerade to my opponent in a 4P game, but that is not a misclick, that is IRL.

My opponent was playing a bunch of tournaments in a row. Each time, I dutifully revealed the province in my hand. Then all of a sudden he played a bishop... and I revealed the province once more.

Did your opponent play more tournaments after that?  Because that would have been awesome.

I had this great Scavenger-Tunnel combo set up and was puzzled when playing Scavenger wouldn't let me reveal the discarded Tunnels. Then I reread the card and it occurred to me that "move your deck to the discard pile" != "discard your deck".

I still won the game, so all's well that ends well...

...
And I win anyway? Whaaat?
It's times like these that I wonder about goko's rating system. Also when I play a 5000+ player and they open village/pirate ship.

That's awesome, because in French version of chancellor, you discard your deck...
http://dominion.xseb74.com/images/base/chancelier.jpg (you can see on this card text was rewritten, but when I play IRL it is written the same)
But they fixed it with Scavenger, which is named "Pilleur", which may be confusing with "Pillard" which is the French of the card type "Looter"

I got this in hand: Bank, Gold, 3 Coppers
So this is a clear Province, but i wanted to buy a Farmland and "remodel" my Gold into a Province. So clicked on my treasures one after the other. But oh...I didn't pay attention and clicked my Bank as first card  :o And that's even not enough for a Province :-|

Hmmm... Okay. I´m going to play Forge now, trash all those Coppers, an Estate and two Silvers. Yes, that's a Province. Okay, that's only a Silver and a Potion left, nothing worth buying for $2P here, so I might as well press 'End turn' immediately.

Hey, wait, that's not where my Alchemists should be going!

Playing a Plaza-heavy deck where you don't want to discard treasures is a nightmare. Plaza->Done Discarding becomes auto-play... until that one turn where you started your turn without a treasure in hand, and you click End Actions.

Code: [Select]
plays Trusty Steed (Actions, cards)
plays Vault
plays Tournament
discards Province
Hey, why don't I get a Prize??? Oh, damn...I discarded the Tournament with my Vault.
I think this lost the game.

And I believe I have just added a unique "oops" moment.

http://dom.retrobox.eu/?/20130629/log.50ea2963e4b0429cfe091cec.1372560301926.txt

So here we are, last turn of the game, 1 Province left, a bunch of stuff on my Native Village mat including an Ambassador and a Province.  I've got 2 Fool's Gold in hand so I see this as a chance to gift the last Province and buy a Duchy for the win.  With confidence and braver I play that Ambassador saying to my opponent, "As a token of my impending victory, take this last Province as a token for your subjugation to my will."  The land is given to which my opponent replies, "Why you fool!  Why do you deal with pyrite, you could deal with Gold?!?!?!  And with that, my fake treasure was replaced by the grandeur of Gold!!!!  But wait, I forgot, I needed that fake costume jewelry to get the last Duchy in the land!  So alas, instead of having land and power albeit with fake Gold, I am left with real Gold and a less than adequate amount of land.

tl:dr  I revealed Province with Ambassador gifting the last Province.  In my excitement to play my 2 Fool's Gold to purchase the last Duchy, I revealed them as reactions to put 2 Gold's on top of my deck rejoicing in a shared victory.

Chapel, GM, Highway, Worker's Village, Wharf: pretty much an insane engine board.  And hey, at the end of Turn 13, I'm able to buy 7 GMs for just $14... pretty much sealing my megaturn next turn.  Right!?

Unless of course my opponent has enough buys to three-pile and end on a 0-0 tie!

I just played a game with Watno where I missed the last province (end turn button) then to add insult to injury I clicked "end trashing" for his Bishop instead of curse. I lost.
Then next game I clicked end turn on my first turn, and resigned cause I was so angry.

So a few weeks ago, I was playing a colony game and I accidentally passed a colony with my masquerade, a 20 point swing! I asked my apponent if he could pass it back next time with his masquerade.  So if you think he said no, you are right.  And of course I lost by 12 points!  He of course left immediately after the game without saying gg or anything!

I don't think what you proposed would have been a fair solution though, as his deck is temporarily worse because of the Colony, and you can't expect him to be fine with playing with a worse deck because you made a mistake.

What you could have proposed, and what I might have agreed to, is to end the current turn right away without doing anything else, and both do nothing until he is in a position to return the Colony. That way balance is restored without doing much harm to the course of the game, and you are punished somewhat (as you should be) by playing one turn less.

Not exactly a missclick, but..

I was climbing on goko's ladder, adn was mainly hosting games (Base + 1 DA set). Today I started joining "all sets". I got a Duke kingdom. And as I didn't play elaborate kingdoms in a while, instead of trying to pile out Duchies than go for dukes, I went other way. Ugh. Lost 59-50.

Done this on Iso, guy offered to give it back, I said it was fine :P

Ugh, just lost a game on a misclick.

I played Hamlet, got +buy, than played Scavanger for +2$. Now, I wanted to get 2 Estates, so I clicked on 1, than realized that I didn't play my treasures. Lost by that 1 point.

Goko. Need. Misclick. Pervention.
This would have never happened on Iso..

Maybe there should be an optional confirm button for end turn.

It was not end of turn. I played my actions, had 2$ and 2 buys, adn didn't play treasures. Than I wanted to buy 2 Estates, and I clicked on buy estate, than I realized I didn't play treasures. Iso would always ask you "are you sure" if you didn't play your treasures and you start buying..

Here's a face-to-face equivalent of a misclick.

4-player game with Baker and Soothsayer; everyone opened 5/3 as Soothsayer/Village or Soothsayer/Silver.  This led to a lot of quick plays of Soothsayer, as each play of Soothsayer caused everyone else to draw a card, putting Soothsayers into their hands and cycling the decks.

Wow, the Curse pile ran out quickly; that must be the result of all the Soothsayer plays.

With the Curses gone, Soothsayers producing a lot of gold, and Journeymen skipping curses, three of the four players had a lot of money and bought up the Provinces.  The fourth player kept on getting stuck with a lot of Curses (at least two turns with four Curses and a copper) and could never get anywhere.

When the game ended and we counted up the score, the Curse split turned out to be 4/5/6/15.  Apparently, when he reshuffled, the player next to the Curse pile picked up his "discard" pile which was the last nine Curses; that's why the Curses ran out so quickly.

My brother once almost shuffled the trash pile (full of Coppers and Curses) into his deck.  He caught himself quickly enough to sort it back out though.

It sounds like the sort of thing a really bad fan card would do.

Not a misclick, but only not paying attetion:

A nice game with Counting House, which worked well. My opponent played a Montebank so I was happy to reveal my Secret Chamber:

Quote
Forcy   plays Mountebank
GwinnR   reveals reaction Secret Chamber
GwinnR   draws University
GwinnR   shuffles deck
[...]
GwinnR: turn 9
[...]
GwinnR   plays Counting House
Not the best to kill his own Counting House ;-)

I just noticed that when I play an attack card and an opponent has a Lighthouse in play, unlike Isotropic, Goko doesn't say he's unaffected by the attack.

By buying an Estate after playing a Swindler. It was a $5 hand, too.

In a random game against a bot, thanks to using a slightly dodgy mousepad I somehow* misclick and buy a Coppersmith on turn 2. Cursing my luck, I play on anyway to see what happens. I then proceed to draw my Coppersmith with three or four coppers the first three times I play it, and then have it in hand at an ideal time to TfB against an opponent's Governor. Not the absolute best Coppersmith ever, but pretty lucky.

*seriously, I have no idea how this happened, I must have jerked my finger, moving about 40 pixels onto the plus, clicked it, and then managed to move sufficiently far away before I realised what happened, because I needed to check the log to see what I bought. But whatever, it happened.

SheCantSayNo: turn 13
...
SheCantSayNo   plays Trading Post
SheCantSayNo   trashes Spice Merchant, Silver

I realized this was a mistake, as Spice Merchant was the only source of +buy.

So, what do you do? Correct the mistake, of course: you just buy it back next turn...

SheCantSayNo: turn 14
...
SheCantSayNo   plays Fortune Teller
...
SheCantSayNo   plays 5 Silver, 1 Gold
SheCantSayNo   buys Spice Merchant
SheCantSayNo   gains Spice Merchant
SheCantSayNo   shuffles deck
SheCantSayNo   draws Hunting Party, City, Hunting Party, Gold, Hunting Party

...for $15.

And still win.

This wasn't really a misclick, but I just had a hand of 3x Festival, 1x Necropolis and 1x Copper.

I didn't want to play the Necropolis so I clicked "End Actions". Time to stop playing.

That's why I always play redundant actions until I'm down to 0 or 0 left in hand even if they don't mean/do anything.

King's court + Secret chamber. I planned to discard exactly 6 cards for my secret chamber so I could King's court the moat to redraw them… but forgot that KC played the Secret chamber thrice  :'(

brokoli   plays King's Court
brokoli   plays King's Court
brokoli   plays Secret Chamber
brokoli   discards Copper
brokoli   discards Copper
brokoli   discards Copper
brokoli   discards Gold
brokoli   discards Gold
brokoli   discards Silver
brokoli   plays Secret Chamber
brokoli   discards Moat

That was awful, especially because I planned to play a salvager afterwards, to trash one of my treasures.

I was playing a hand with Oasis and Junk Dealer. I got distracted briefly and thought I had played an Oasis and clicked on Province to discard it. Unfortunately I had just played a Junk Dealer. Lost that game thanks to that.

It's very much the opponent's fault, especially since he fell for it *twice*.

There seems to be an epidemic of this going around.  I had three consecutive opponents buy a curse after Swindling a Shelter yesterday.  The first was like "what happened, how did I get a curse in my deck" a few hands later and I explained and he said something like "I know Shelters cost 1. I'm not that dumb. Whatever." Apparently not. :)

I think it is entirely likely this is happening because people are not paying attention as opposed to them not knowing shelters cost $1.  They are expecting to choose a card when they play Swindler, don't pay attention to what got hit, and see that sweet blue plus sign next to the curse pile.  If that is the case, their mistake isn't not knowing shelters card cost, but rather not considering the possibility that Swindler could hit a card that has no replacement (and not paying attention to what is happening).

Yesterday I did the worst misclick, I ever did. It costed 3 Provinces and I became 3rd place instead of 1st.

I had much money and many buys, so I wanted to buy 3 Provinces. And suddenly the turn ended. And I said "What?" and "What?" and "Again, what?".
Which happened was, that I was chatting in the goko-chat and pressed "Enter" to send. But it didn't press Enter for the goko-chat but for the side-log of the extension. Because a clicked "end turn" the turn before, my Enter pressed that button and so I missed the 3 Provinces.

I like the extension very much and the new buttons are cool, but that was so sad. The buttons which should protect me from misclicking caused my worst misclick. Maybe there is a way to change this problem.

Oh, and if you like to laugh about my reaction, here is the video (in german and in a low voice, but I hope, you understand and enjoy it): Start at 14m55s

That seems a little more your opponent's fault since the shelters cost $1.

That has happened to me before, too.

That's not so bad as long as you are buying Death Carts with the Talisman in play.

It wasn't so bad because I ended up having enough dollars to empty the Hamlets instead, even after spending one buy on Survivors. It could have been worse if the next card was also a Survivors, making me think it actually works until I no longer have enough buys.

I used Merchant Guild/Talisman/Watchtower to topdeck four silvers and I'm more proud of that than I should be.

Opened 5/2 on a board with no 5's or 2's.  Unsurprisingly, my Bureaucrat/- opening struggled even against a bot.  The late game featured a Prince that never went off despite help from Scavenger.

A Colony game. My thought process:

"Uh-oh. King's Court/Masquerade. This could be a pin vs. pin game. What shall I open? Masquerade for sure, and... hmm, my opponent just grabbed a Worker's Village. Is that the right move? Yep, I think it is. Okay, I'll open Worker's Village/Masquerade."

"Okay, turn 3. My opponent just played his Masquerade. Fine. He passes me a card... I pass him a card... fair enough. Now..."

"Wait. Didn't I have my Masquerade in hand a second ago? Did I just pass him my Masquerade??"

*checks log*

"I did! AARGH!"

Fortunately, my opponent did not go for the pin. So I was able to recuperate, pin him, and win.  :D

Okay, maybe I'm not remembering correctly. But I must have figured it out somehow, since I bought a new Masquerade on turn 3.

Edit: Now I remember. After the pass, my opponent paused for a while, and then he trashed nothing. If I had passed him an Estate, he would've trashed it on the spot. So I knew for sure that I had goofed.

You can't go for the pin there, though, since the discard attack/Outpost is missing. If you do, your opponent will just buy a Masquerade, play it once, and ruin your everything.

I was looking a log today and wondered why the gain from a Sabotaged card didn't show up.  I thought it was a log bug, but after a while, I decided to read the card.  OMG, it is "may gain" - I've picked up a Copper from a Sabotaged 3 a dozen times or more!  :-[

Not a misclick, but easily the worst move on the board:

http://www.gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?/20141019/log.508ab3570cf2066fa6659c3d.1413736947292.txt

Throne room-poorhouse is my strategy, and it's going great. I develop all of my starting cards away, gaining all 10 poorhouses. Turn 18 I draw everything and get a zillion dollars, only 3 buys because all I could get was a throned council room. I get two provinces and another council room, so that the next time I have a big turn I can empty the provinces. Turn 19 I fall flat, decide that instead of just taking a province and tying the score, I will instead try to increase my chances of going off. I decide to develop two poorhouses I don't need into two vagrants. I forget that I also need to gain something costing 0, so I take two curses (better than copper for vagrants and for poorhouse). But that's not the bad part. The bad part is that poor houses and throne rooms were empty and I just lowered the vagrant pile from 3 to 1, turning a sure victory into a sure loss. (he only had one +buy and no develop)

Move in question is my turn 17. I was half hoping he might just leave and give me the win :P. ah well lesson learned. Don't assume that last minion is kings courted and keep trying to add 2 dollars when thats right where the end turn button is...

I had a province swindled right at the end of a four player game that i was winning. I chose to replace it with another province...and then produced Trader to turn it into a silver. I then finished second.

Your hand has only 3 cards (you put 2 coppers back on top due to Ghost ship): Dame Molly (the +2 actions one), Embassy, Altar.
This Embassy is the only serious draw in the game, you got it out of the black market deck.

You start with the knight (hits nothing) and then the million dollar question: what card do you play next?
It's a league game and if you get this one right you may well make it to the finals! (thank god it turned out not to matter after all)

Two thoughts happened at the same time, without intersecting:

"I'm going to Prince a Bridge, so I can Prince more expensive things!"

"I should get an Apprentice to get rid of these Estates!"

It took until the third Estate to figure out why the Apprentice was only drawing one card.

You had enough money in hand for the last Colony already, you'd had 4s swindled into Feoda, this put you over a new level, and the points were relevant? I really am impressed.

My turn 6:

"Okay, I'll play my Hamlet... discard a Copper for an extra action... okay, now I'll use the Chapel to trash a Curse, and then I'll play my Swindler."

*clicks Chapel*

*clicks Curse*

*clicks Swindler*

"NO! My Swindler!!!"

Thing is, I now think trashing that Swindler was actually the RIGHT move. Having done so, I felt I was pretty much forced to go for Treasure Maps, which I should've done in the first place. And I went on to win big.

Greatest Dominion misclicks, indeed.  ;D

And...as the distracted opponent during all of this...I must say that I approve of this post and in fact insisted that Trojan Horse post this here.

So I encourage everybody who knows everything to tell me exactly how and how badly I effed this up to get to the sad result that ensued. Needless to say, some of it was probably due to shock on my part. But more of it was due to the fact that I suck (and that's the variance component I'm after here) and some of it due to the bold misclick mentioned above.

It's not a misclick, but today I learned the valuable lesson that a BoM-based golden deck won't seem like such a good idea when the Bishops run out.

It was going so smoothly! Luckily my strategy was trash-then-gain rather than gain-then-trash, so I already had all the treasure I needed for a Province every turn when my golden deck lost its golden-ness.

Princing Jack of all Trades is generally not very good in most games, because drawing to 5 only helps after hand reducing attacks and it depends heavily on the question if you want so much silver.

But the biggest problem is that you keep trashing cards which you wanted to play at the start of your turn.
Wait where is my familiar...  :o

Three points behind.  One Province and no Duchies left.  I have $7 and Swindler....which hit Province.

Not a misclick but bad enough we'll let it slide.

Tie game. On turn 21, my opponent has the $4 necessary to win the game by buying the last remaining Duchy (he had played a Highway and Minions and Peddlers were out)... he threw in a Swindler just for the heck of it and it hit my Peddler, giving me a Province.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure Swindler has appeared 5 times in the last 10 posts. Honestly I wouldn't think there would be many misclicks with it.

I mean, you can't do so many misclicks with swindler. I think the one of Tombolo was bad luck, but he had to play the Swindler. The one of your opponent was only bad play. He should not play the Swindler, because there was the chance of hitting the Province and he didn't need to play it.

I don't think there's relatively much to misclick with Swindler.

Oh, you totally can. Just open double Swindler or whatever, hit a Shelter on turn 3, see that very attractive blue + button on the Curse pile and spend your $5 hand on a Curse. It's that easy!

I hope that one day someone will accidentally prince a tactician. That would truly be a misclick for the history books.

There was one game I was livestreaming where I was planning on using Coin tokens to get Grand Markets, but I kept hitting "Play Treasures" instead of "Use Coin token".

Not miss-clicks but I have a couple of times tried to be too clever for my own good when attempting to end games.

Game 1
I had a slight lead and there was 1 province remaining. Unfortunately I only had 6 to spend. I then had the bright idea that I could buy Farmland, trash the province in my hand and gain the last province that way :-[. My opponent bought that last province on his next turn and won.

Game 2.
I spotted a way I could cause a three pile ending to end the game. I started thinking how many provinces, duchies and estates I had bought and how many my opponent had bought. I calculated if I ended the game I would win by 1 point. I lost. My calculations regarding how many provinces, duchies and estates my opponent and myself had in their deck were correct. What I had not considered was that Knights were on the table and my opponent had Dame Josephine in his deck.

Bad misclick with Plaza:

GwinnR: turn 12
[...]
GwinnR   draws Province, Plaza, Copper
GwinnR   shuffles deck
GwinnR   draws Margrave, Hamlet

PetraK: turn 12
[...]
GwinnR   draws Margrave
GwinnR   discards Province
GwinnR   discards Copper
GwinnR   discards Hamlet
[...]

GwinnR: turn 13
GwinnR   plays Plaza
GwinnR   draws Plaza
-->GwinnR clicks "don't discard" for Plaza...but what?...I had no Treasure in hand, so it wasn't the "don't discard"-button, but the "end actions"-button  >:(

This happened to me in a World Cup match

Luckily, the most recent version of the Salvager extention (I think it might be the beta version?) prevents misclicks like this from happening. I suggest you look into it :)

Unless "slight" means 4 or more points, then it wouldn't have mattered if you knew the exact wording of Farmland and bought a Duchy instead.

Rebuild game. All Estates are gone. All Duchies are gone. One Province left. I have two Rebuilds in my hand. I play one, gain a Province. I play another Rebuild in auto-mode. I won, and then I lost.

Oh look this game there is Rebuild and shelter, I start 5/2 so I buy first a rebuild and second an estate to trash my hovel.
My opponent have 4/3 and he decide to slog my game taking potion for familiar. Ok so turn 4 I have 4$ I take a trader (I was thinking I will gain some silver).
And turn  5 is good I have Rebuild 3 coppers and my trader so I will play my rebuild say estate to trash my overgown and have two estate and after play my trader to trash one copper, very good  start I think, but ....
Emeric - plays Rebuild
Emeric - names Estate
Emeric - reveals Overgrown Estate
Emeric - trashes Overgrown Estate
Emeric - draws Copper
Emeric - reveals reaction Trader
Emeric - gains Silver

ohohoho ! I didn't plat my trader but I reveal it while I was gaining my estate. So I have only one estate....
You think it's not a so big mistake, sure but wait...
Turn 25, I have in hand rebuild, trader, one copper and two curses. Good time to play rebuild and after play trader to trash curse but ....
---------- Emeric: turn 25 ----------
Emeric - plays Rebuild
Emeric - names Colony
Emeric - reveals Rebuild, Province
Emeric - discards Rebuild
Emeric - trashes Province
Emeric - reveals reaction Trader
Emeric - gains Silver

ohohohoh my beautiul colony is only a silver ....

So I resign....

Accidentally buying Tournament instead of Counterfeit on turns 3 and 5? Yeah, those were pretty bad misclicks.

Reasons I should probably not be playing Dominion today:

Exhibit A (Familiar on the board)
Elanchana Destler   plays 3 Copper, 1 Potion, 1 Silver
Elanchana Destler   buys Stonemason
Elanchana Destler   overpays for Stonemason with 3 coins
Elanchana Destler   gains Stonemason

Exhibit B (2 Border Villages in play)
Elanchana Destler   Scheme choice: Scheme
Elanchana Destler   Scheme choice: Scheme
Elanchana Destler   Scheme choice: Smithy
Elanchana Destler   Scheme choice: Smithy

This is probably the most misclicking I've ever done in a single game. By some miracle, I still won.

Also, this one was caught on video! (skip to 3:00)

I'm not sure why we're posting in the 2013 thread, but anyway, a reminder not to autopilot with Stash:

singletee: turn 7
singletee   plays Lookout
singletee   places Stashes at locations: 2,1
singletee   shuffles deck
singletee   trashes Stash
singletee   discards Stash
singletee   places Gold on top of deck

(I guess there's no newer thread)

Play Herald, triggers Courtyard. Looks at hand containing KC, Trade Route, Gold, two Silvers, Copper, Copper, Necropolis

Oh yay, I can KC-Trade Route out the junk and buy a Grand Market!

Clicks KC to "play" it (KC goes on top of deck)

Clicks Trade Route to "play it with KC" and trash a Copper. This does trash but uses last action.

Clicks on a second copper to also "trash" it. This plays the copper.

Now KC is on top of the deck and a copper is in play so can't buy a Grand Market.

That would probably be the most efficient way.

Hello.  Name's Bruce.  It's all right.  I understand.  Why trust a shark, right?

Is quite curious - Who is the mystical "Celestial Chameleon"?

I currently imagine mail-mi wearing a dark trenchcoat and a bowler hat, hunched over a bit, toothpick in his mouth, holding a gun in his pocket.  One bead of sweat trickling down his nose.

I really hope the next version of Dominion Online has a giant picture of the card in question that will be affected when things like Watchtower, Trader, Duplicate, etc. might do something instead of the little tiny text in the middle of the screen or the tiny outline of a card in your discard pile.

I had €14 from Actions (including Grand Markets) and 4 Coppers in hand, so I clicked where the "play treasures" button is and wondered why my turn ended.

I did this like 5 times in a recent league match, each one accompanied by audible cursing as well. Props to Launchywiggin for letting me undo all of them.
