I got the lucky silver in the beginning and everything, and still had pretty much no chance at any point. Why?

Possibly really bad Noble Brigand luck afterwards? You got one hit on T1, but then your next hit of NB didn't come until turn 15, the turn after he'd already bought and used followers. And that's with you buying a bunch of brigands.

Yeah, your Noble Brigand's did absolutely nothing for you to slow him down, and if they don't slow your opponent down they aren't a good card.
