WTF my opponent's start

I know my Bishop is helping him (I was planning to build something pseudo-GD-ish the hard way, and it kinda-sorta worked in the end), but how lucky do you have to be to get consecutive Provinces on turns 8-10 (and then duchy-duchy-province the next three turns!) with a pretty much BM strategy?

He could have had another Province turn 11 if he hadn't trashed to your Bishop.

Basically you have to get lucky enough to trash all your estates for free.

I think I've seen you post a couple of games now where you're buying too many silvers for a golden deck. At times you can buy nothing, have less to trash from your deck as a result, and still not be short of coins for a gold.

Is golden deck even a good idea when there's only single-card trashing available? Won't it lose to something simple like Monument-BM if you don't have a fast trasher to start it up?

Very much so.  Or else every bishop game with a bishop would be a golden deck.

... Is "-ish" meaningless here? I didn't expect to actually get down to 5 cards. I expected to trash my starting cards (check) while building high-value Treasure (check) and picking up enough points to combine with green for a victory (check, but much harder than it seemed it ought to be).

Well, I can do the first two things on your list without even buying Bishop, as long as you're nice enough to buy Bishop for me. So really, Bishop isn't worth it unless

A) You expect to get enough VPs from it to offset how it stunts your economy

B) You expect the other person will fail to trash a significant amount of the time
