ZMIX - Veterans Go Flavorless (Mafia wins flawlessly)
« on: December 27, 2012, 07:14:58 pm »

Welcome to Blitz Mafia IX: Veterans Go Flavorless

READ THIS POST IN ITS ENTIRETY TO ENTER!

This game will begin about 09:00 forum time on Monday, December 31, 2012 Wednesday, Jan 2, 2013. D1 will last 27 real-life hours, ending at noon forum time on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013.  Decisions (if needed) about playing over the weekend will be made on Friday, Jan 4, and player input will be solicited at that time.

This game will use the hidden democracy method to determine lynches when votes are tied at the deadline.  This means that if Player X and Y are tied at deadline, I lock the thread, EVERYONE sends me a PM of which player they are voting for (X or Y). The player that receives the most this way is lynched. If neither player has a majority, no lynch occurs. The results of the vote are made public afterwards, and are useful information.

Setup Information (Less Pressure), but different.  Changes in red below.

3 Mafia Goons
3 Vanilla Townies
2 Innocent Children
2 Best Friends  Best Friends are two players who know each other to be Town but are unable to speak to each other privately.  The Best Friends are identified to each other by the moderator in the role PMs, but DO NOT have daychat.

Credit goes to Archetype for suggesting this variation.  There is some sentiment that this setup with 2 Masons is imbalanced in town's favor, and some sentiment that the original "Less Pressure" (with two Innocent Children) has been "solved".

Moderator notes:
1) A spectator QT will be available - just PM the moderator after game start.
2) There will be no flavor. It's not that I'm lazy, but I think I suck at writing flavor, and I'd rather spend that time on providing quick flips, more votecounts, etc.
3) BEFORE SIGNING UP, BE ADVISED THIS IS ONLY MY SECOND GAME AS MODERATOR. However, it has been independently verified that no animals were harmed during the play of ZM8, my freshman effort. (well, an Eevee was slightly damaged, but only very very slightly)

Mechanics:

This game is Nightless.
This game uses a White Flag: town needs to lynch any two Mafia Goons to win.
Mafia have daytalk.
When the first Mafia Goon is lynched, the killed mafia player gets a return kill on a player of their choice. This choice shall be delivered to the mod immediately upon the mafia player's demise.

I would like to encourage anyone that has been considering playing for the first time to give it a try.  This version plays in about 3 real-life days, so you can experience the game without investing weeks of your time.  We welcome new players (and new forum members) to join us.  Be forewarned however, the game can be addicting.

If you are signing up, confirm in your sign-up post that the following statements are true for you:
a) you have read the ENTIRETY of the opening post
b) you understand the setup and agree to the rules and the information in the opening post.
Without such specific language in your sign-up post, you will not be signed up.

Players (make sure you followed the rules to sign up, you may not be in when you think you are):
1 - raerae Vanilla Town, lynched Day 1
2 - Shraeye
3 - Robz888
4 - Eevee
5 - Insomniac
6 - Grujah Vanilla Town, lynched Day 2
7 - Galzria
8 - mcmcsalot

Backup Mods: Jimmmmm, and the illustrious Voltgloss (Thank you both, gentlemen)

Blitz Mafia Ruleset Changes in RED BECAUSE RED GOES FASTER

Game Rules:

General Gameplay and Etiquette:
1. You may not quote private Moderator-supplied information (either real or fabricated) of any kind.  Paraphrasing (for role claims, etc.) is acceptable.
2. There is to be NO personal communication outside of the forum postings unless your role PM specifically allows it.  Mafia members may communicate at any time in the mafia QT.
3. There are no nights.
4. Dead players cannot post in QTs, other than the spectator one.

Voting, Deadlines, and Player Death:
1.Whomever has the most votes currently on them at lynch deadline is lynched.
1b.  If there is a tie at deadline, THE HIDDEN DEMOCRACY METHOD WILL BE UTILIZED (see above).

2. Once you have reached a simple majority no further unvoting will change someone’s fate.  Further votes will also be ignored.
3. Once a player is lynched the game enters twilight until I post a death scene; all players including the one who was lynched may continue to post during twilight, UNTIL THE THREAD IS LOCKED.
4. Please submit votes as: Vote: PlayerName.  Votes will NOT be counted if they are not bold or do not follow this syntax!  Obvious abbreviations or nicknames will be counted so long as they are unambiguous.
5. Please submit vote revocations as either Unvote: PlayerName or Unvote. Unvotes are not necessary before changing votes.
6. You may NOT Vote: No Lynch.
7. This game will have 24 HOUR deadlines.  If a player does not have a simple majority at deadline, the player with most votes currently on them will be lynched, and the game will go into twilight.
8. Once you are killed (either via lynch or night venge kill) you may no longer post. This means that you do not even get a “Bah” post. The dead in this game are silent.
9. Do not edit or delete posts.  We don't want some players having more information than others.  If you want to clarify posts, feel free to double post.

Miscellaneous/Mechanics:
1. Bold, blue text is reserved for the Mod.  No invisible/small text is allowed, nor is cryptography.
2. If you have an issue/problem with the game, please PM the Mod privately.  Do not post issues/complaints in the game thread.
3. The Mod may make mistakes - please point out any mistakes gently.  Mistakes will be corrected where possible, but sometimes mistakes are made that cannot be reversed.  These will stand as final to be commiserated over after the game.
4. Please bold all requests to the Mod so that they don’t get missed.
5. Rule violations will be dealt with according to their severity, up to and including a Modkill.

The Golden Rule:

Please remember that this is a game and your main objective is to have fun! Be considerate of each other, don’t get personal, and enjoy the game.

Helpful Links:

TO CLARIFY, I AM NOT A MODERATOR OF F.DS IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM.  IN THE CONTEXT OF THIS GAME, I AM MODERATING THAT THE RULES ARE FOLLOWED AND HIDDEN ACTIONS ARE COMPLETED PROPERLY.

But there will be drinking!

I read the entirety of the opening post. I saw language that indicated hangovers, not drinking. The drinking comes before the game - and that I will NOT be missing out on. Definitely /in for that.

The hangovers will be mine. Does that change your "/out" to an "/in" for the game itself?

No. These games are too much for me. The desire to rage-hammer self as town to spite the IC's is too strong. I think I've been mislynched in this general format more than any other player, and the knowledge that it hurts townmore than the average game drives me up  a wall. I seriously don't have the patience for it.

If this doesn't fill, I'll /in. Otherwise, I'm taking a break from this. I'm in Ashersky's only because I was auto-inned, and the mystery setup leads me to believe he has something special planned.

Bump to follow. I decided to /out from the next Blitz game, but then my other games ended too so I'm only in one game currently. So I might join, or I might offer to be backup mod.

Yeah, Ash's has me intrigued, and I'll likely in, but haven't completely decided, for the reasons you mentioned above.  It's a stressful, frustrating game.

SFS,

I have read the entirety of the opening post.
I understand the setup and agree to almost all the rules and information in the opening post

The one piece of information I disagree with is this:
Masons have daytalk.
There are no Masons, so they shouldn't need daytalk.

(How's that for having read the ENTIRETY of the opening post  ;))

I have (semi) proof (no pun intended), though I realize I may have telegraphed it a bit in my PM to Shraeye, with a story about a rather rigid Harvard-trained Advanced Calculus professor I had as an undergrad.  He had VERY strict requirements about how papers were to be folded before being turned in.  Did I give it away, Shraeye?
