I'm debating whether even to submit a ranking; it wouldn't feel right to ignore Dark Ages but it also doesn't feel right to ignore them either.

I feel like one of those ignores is supposed to be rank or something; that or I just don't know what you're trying to say for some reason :P

Qvist, please ignore my Dark Ages rankings on the 2-6+ cards.  Having played a little with Knights and Ruinseseseses, I went ahead and ranked those, so feel free to include or exclude them as you see fit.

I'm going to woefully underrate Feodum. I just don't know how to use it, outside of the obvious "silver-gainer+Feodum" combo, which still gets beat by a reasonable Province engine.

While I hate to stifle discussions, wouldn't it be better if we didn't discuss what we were ranking where?  Otherwise we could end up with a kind of group-think which isn't really the idea.

Actually, I was going to post the same. I'm glad to see that discussion, but it might be better to see the discussion when the results are revealed.

And btw, yeah, this time I got stickied.

Agreed.  All conversation about why Scout should be ranked last needs to stop. <snicker>

Couldn't help it, sorry Piemaster.

I feel like if an experienced player looked at my rankings, they'd be like,
"Huh. They must like native village a lot."

and then..., upon reaching the $4-$5

"How on Earth did this person ever reach level 30?!"

Different people favor different cards, and can make different strategies work.  Like apparently WW hates Bishop, and I tend to win when I go after it like a fox after a chicken.

I wonder if it would be easier to set up a MaxDiff approach to ranking.  I know it is tiring to get through the $4's and $5's.

Misquoting by exaggeration is sort of what I do.

You stalk the Bishop, taking in every detail of its surroundings, waiting for the right moment to pouce so as to maximize your benefit and minimize your exposure to potential predators?

You, sir, are one intense Dominion player.  ;)

I'm planning to program a facemesh style little app for this, but had no time for it so far. I don't know MaxDiff but it seems like it has a similar approach although I don't know how much can be said about a ~60 card list if you only compare the best and worse card.

just to make sure
#1 means the best (and not "1 point") ?

I'm not sure what you are referring to. The top card in the poll is the best one and it has a 1.

Let's see how many submissions we get this time. The more we get the better the rankings will be.

In hopes of maximizing the number of rankings, I took the liberty of posting about this on BGG and reddit.

Frak. Was 90% finished rating the 5$s (longest and hardest, sigh) when I accidently closed the browser. Aaaargh!

The usual way to do it is you ask people repeatedly about pairs of cards, then you use those pairwise comparisons to build a ranking. This is easy but costs lots of time because you need so many questions. Max diff is a way to do this and get more information per question: when you pick the best and worst of a b c d e you get a > b, a > c, a > d, a > e, b > e, c > e, and d > e all in one question.

For last time's Favorite Cards list, I wrote a program in Python that helps me sort the cards by doing 2-card comparisons. It works pretty fast even for the 157 cards for the whole list, and would definitely be reasonable for any price point lists. If anyone wants to use it, let me know and I can put it in a Gist.
