Prospector was in our games, and I used it quite a bit, for the money.  I know from the video that this is not normal procedure, but towards the end of each round, when there were only two role choices left, I often took prospector over the other, when it seemed a better choice.

I don't understand the comment about 'having people take more roles every turn'.  In our games, each round (I define round as everything between movements of the Governor button) continued until all the roles except one had been chosen (the choices alternating between the two players).  Is this not normal procedure? ( I haven't actully read the rules yet - between the video and the programming on BGA, I had enough to jump in.)

2p is a variant. Albeit a variant designed by the game maker. It wasn't created until a long whole after peurto Rico came out. That said this game is best with 3-5. If u want to play 2 player Agricola is how to do it :p

I suggest we play with the Factory and University costs switched, and with each player who starts with a corn plantation starting with a doubloon less.

Why?  Maybe there are things I don't know about this game; but, having played it a few times, I think things are fine as they originally are.

Yeah, I don't know if there's an official FAQ/Errata or something? I mean, there are probably some advantages to be had by certain players, but are these known and proven tweaks? If so, please provide a link to the source.

bozzball should update the OP title to reflect that it's at 4/5.  If people see that it's almost full up, they may be more inclined to hop in.

[I don't know how you played with 2 players, since IIRC it only plays 3 to 5.

I've found the best way to make 2player work is to have each player play two boards, as a four player game. Adds some interesting strategy to the game. You could play with the lower score being the only one that counts, or the average of the two.

I'm just posting to say that this is an incredibly fun and well designed game. I really like it even though I won't be playing it. (I considered signing up, but don't have time.) I will be following it and may chime in to provide unwanted advice occasionally. (corn... take all the corn.)

And the warehouses, and the markets, and the wharf.  But that takes money, and corn doesn't generate much, if any, so.... hmmm.

So just take all the coffee too while you at it!

surely you don't need warehouses AND a wharf; after all, if you have a wharf you really ought to be shipping all/most of your goods...

You need the wharf so you don't get your commodity "locked out" when other people are filling the ships at the public dock.

All the coffee facilities are the most expensive to buy, so you're back to the notion of where is the money gonna come from?

That's what I mean. If you have a wharf than why would you need warehouses?

Yes but it's not like you're never going to be able to scrounge up 6 doubloons...

I've never owned a wharf, but I assume it has only 1 ship.  Is this incorrect?

If it only has one ship, and you have two or more goods, then you will need warehouses, unless you are lucky enough to never get blocked out of the public ships (or unless you don't care about losing goods everytime some chooses Captain).  I've only played 6 times, though, so if my analysis is missing something, let me know.

It only has one ship, but in general that should be enough.  There are five different goods, and 3 ships. You have very good odds of being able to load on one of them, because there will often be open ships, which you can claim if you are the captain or maybe the person after. I've only ever played 3 or 4 player, so I suppose getting space on ships is harder with 5. Anyway in my experience a wharf is usually enough; you can afford to lose a few goods. There will almost always be another craftsman before the next captain. Even without warehouses you can still keep one good, so you don't need to worry about trader. It only helps you have more goods to load next time, which is only helpful if there is lots of space on them. Warehouses are still useful if you have a wharf, but generally much less so, so you would be better of buying something else instead of it.
