I'd like to know how often this happens.
I think that stash may have helped a tiny bit, but I'm pretty sure I would still win if my stashes were silvers.

First, I don't think Chapel is a good enabler for FG rushes.

Second, your opponent didn't Chapel very well (didn't trash Coppers even though he still had enough in hand to buy another FG).

Third, Spice Merchant has no place in a Chapel-FG game.

All that being said, I don't think Envoy-BM does poorly even against good Chapel-FG.  Just my gut, though.

However, I think Spice Merchant-FG does pretty well!  Especially with the +buy/+$2 option.  He would have done better without the Chapel!

According to a quick simulator run, Envoy-BM loses to straight Chapel-FG by a little bit - but not by much. 46% wins for Envoy, 50% for Chapel/FG, 4% ties.

So it's pretty close. Maybe Stash gets you an extra few percent.

Your opponent added in extra things like Spice Merchant or Cities which would obviously change the numbers too.

Spice Merchant/Fool's Gold, BTW, beats up Envoy-BM by a lot.

Also, turn 15 he Spice Merchants a Fool's Gold for +buy/+$2, but only buys 1 thing and doesn't need the $2 for it.

Envoy BM < Spice Merchant+FG < Envoy+FG < Spice Merchant+Envoy+FG

You should open Spice Merchant to get a few FGs and then get an Envoy to draw them.
